do broad band antenna rules apply only to transmitting, or receiving as well? can we receive a broad band signal with the dipole ? i mean in theory we can receive only one channel, right, or am i misunderstood it ?
yes it applies to receiving as well. If the signal is broader than you can receive the parts outside will be lost and the further away from the center of the antennas tuned frequency, the smaller the received signal at that frequency. If you connect an antenna to a network analyzer, then you can see how the antenna will receive signals at different frequencies. What do you mean by one channel? As in voice channel? With the right hardware you can capture just about everything that you can receive with the antenna.
