Nafisah Mohamed I think that it's just the way Nightwish and Toumas have evolved over the years, I also believe that since Floor has a bigger vocal range than Tarja and Anette, the music will also reflect that.

M16a4sniper saw them with Sabaton and Delain as well. Usually opening acts don't make much of an impression on me but Nightwish has a way of picking them out. Sabaton and Volbeat(saw them during the Dark Passion Play tour) are now bands i listen to regularly
yes, I miss Marco,Jukka and Tarja ofcurse :( and people who say that its not possible that any of the band has had no lineup changes....look at Rammstein( one of my favorite industrial/metal music) and with 26 or 27 years they have managed to hold their band together,its impressive ,overallI dont like lineup changes personally but I can understand that sometimes its necessery
The thing about Tarja's voice is that there's SO MUCH DAMN POWER that she never, ever struggles or losers tone. Others have tried to emulate her, and just can't.
She's awesome, it's skill, but she does fail sometimes. In this concert her voice fails too, but that's natural because of the flu and fever she had and the concert being extra long: whe was quite spent towards the end. The very reason why Tarja moved from the band bus to hotels was because of her vocal problems: she didn't have enough rest, and the bus was eating her health. According to her words.

Tarja is super beautiful and has an amazing voice with well refined skills. There is also something incredibly captivating about her essence. They way she carries herself is....spectacular.
I couldn't agree more my friend. Her time w/ Nightwish was some kind of peak in the history of rock. Tuomas's songs, Tarya's singing, the addition of Marko - an unbelievably loaded band. If only she'd had a little more time to sing a few more duets w/ Marko. One more album. Night wishes for a reconciliation.

The amount of discipline and control in Tarja's voice is just outstanding. I'm a huge fan of Floor, but there are some times when you listen to something and it just stuns you and makes you think whether what you're hearing is real. Remember as well that this is LIVE and not just the best of 5 attempts in a studio. Excellent. Simply excellent.
Tarja's best at live....no great music can be overtaken by a human voice accept tarja..since shes gone even their music seemso silent and never satisfy my thirst for it as it did when tarja was....missing the good old nightwish music....how could they even cut her off just like that after she dedicated so much for the band..they just fired her with a written letter and didnt have the courage to tell her in her face...shes the one that make their band this much precious and they could have given her a beautiful ending with respect even if they want her out...shes been with them more than 10 years and now they hurt her, firing her just by written letter...what kind of a cruel, self centered, selfish, uncared, heartless idiots just let her go like that...fuck them

Tarja is a trained opera singer. Floor took some lessons but didn't proceed further. However you can hear Tarja, in this era, failing on the more modern sound especially on the lower notes. She beautiful hits those high notes and beautifully pulls out a full powerful sound on a classic work but she struggled like hell to mix the pop/rock sound with her training. Now you can definitely hear she improved a lot, but we're talking like stuff I heard last year. It took her some time to get better. Floor on the other hand uses a bit of her opera baggage to give some a specific style to the songs but focused more on training her voice to colour each particular of a song making her a full professional vocalist.
Anette's voice fits perfectly with the Imaginaerum and Dark Passion Play albums but definitely not with the oldschool works of the band. Only Tarja can handle them with divine mastery.
I do agree with you. There is no one else than Tarja to do this style songs on the ultimate top divine level. Anette and Floor are gereat too but it is the truth that only Tarja is for this style and original NW sound.

I hate to say it, but this is one of those performances that makes me disagree with that viewpoint. She misses the entrances twice, and ends up as much as a measure off at times putting her out of key with the rest of the band. It was a chronic problem of her live performances, and when it happens you can sometimes see Toumas wincing at it. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Tarja... but live she often just goes "off the rails" and it often made me wonder how much of her "talent" was more the work of the A&R guys on the albums, than it was her musical talent. Great voice, but would it have killed her once and a while to pay attention to the beat and what the rest of the band is playing? It's what made them feel like a novelty act, and not a cohesive band when live. A problem Floor clearly lacks.
Jason Knight - No surprise Nightwish changed keys and have more basic arrangements for Floor sans pre-recorded orchestral and chorus parts he controlled with his keyboards. The band is supposed to follow the singer mostly. When Tarja was in Nightwish, for albums and live shows, the sound mixing regard the vocals as part of the whole music arrangements. With Floor, her vocals was highlighted. But hey, if you want Celine Dion like singer in Nightwish, fine with me. I want a singer whose passion and emotion can't be contained by a slick but soulless band. Who cares if Tuomas is wincing or flinching during live shows when he was chugging alcohol, Marco fighting for audience focus with Tarja, him and the short guitarist running around the stage while making faces. Only Jukka keep the beat. And Tarja always look to him at the end of the shows with appreciation.

The entire POINT of a rhythm section is to set the beat/tempo/pace of a song. That's why a drummer can make or break a band. Compositions too exist for a reason, and since Toumas is the huffing COMPOSER if that was the attitude they were given, I wouldn't have been surprised in the least at that being a contributor to Tarja being shown the door. You want to ignore the rhythm section and the composition, go back to solo performances at a dinner theatre without an orchestra. Ending up a measure or more off and out of key is not good musicianship and there's not a band in the world that's going to be able to follow a vocalist through that BS, no matter if the vocalist THINKS they're doing it to be "dramatic" or "put their own flair" on it.
The best version of wishmaster, not ever floor or Annette reach this level professionalism & talent. Thank you Tarja for your unique perspective & vocal range on the movement & piece! Your vacal style really shows your dedication & work to make this one of your finest performances
Me gustaría dar mi opinión ya que leo muchos comentarios comparando a las 3 vocalistas: En principio, Nigthwish tocó el cielo cuando combinaron lo instrumental con la voz lírica de Tarja, allá por el 2000/01, (que fue su momento culmine). Con el tiempo, Tarja fue siendo "La cara del grupo" y en aquellos tiempos, nombrar a Nigthwish o hablar de la banda, era un 80% de Tarja y un 20% del resto.- Por qué digo esto, por que fue tan genial esa combinación, que a muchos de nosotros nos conquistó, nos conquistó su voz, nos conquistó su estilo, nos conquistó su belleza, nos conquistó su forma de vestir, sus facciones, maquillaje y vestimenta que iban perfectos con la música que hacían, muchos detalles que mucha gente quizá no ven al momento de comparar.- Lamentablemente para muchos que no lo creen, Tarja fue la persona que disparó notablemente a la banda, y a tener esa fama que hoy en día tiene. Instrumentalmente son PERFECTOS todos! De hecho escucho muchos temas actualmente en su versión instrumental.- La Idea de lo que venía escribiendo es para refrescar un poco y poner un criterio a mi opinión.- Cuando hacen este recital, hay varias versiones que corren, la más leída y espero si me ayudan a su confirmación, es que le dieron una carta antes de hacer "End of an Era" diciendole que "Nigthwish es un sentimiento, y sus conductas capitalistas no nos van", aun así, ella salió y dio todo en este recital, y hoy en día para mí es el mejor recital de Nigthwish de todos los tiempos.- La llegada de Anette Olzon, me dolió, por que inconscientemente le tomé rechazo a la banda luego de que echaran a Tarja, y me mal predispuse a escuchar la nueva música junto a la nueva vocalista, les digo, estoy bastante arrepentido, por que el Disco "Dark Passion Play" es uno de mis discos preferidos de Nigthwish.- Lo único que puedo decir de Annette es que tuvo los huevos de un rinoceronte en tomar el lugar de Tarja, se bancó puteadas, se bancó alientos a Tarja en recitales, la hicieron llorar e irse del escenario MIL veces, y la mina seguía ahí, aun así, nos dio a todos ese GRAN DISCO! La llegada de Floor, no me disgustó, ni tampoco me gusta, simplemente, que los temas que la banda hacía con Tarja, son IRREPRODUCIBLES en otras Vocalistas, cuando quise escuchar Stargazer por Floor, y viendo que bajaron el tono de la melodía para que pueda llegar, automáticamente lo saqué.- Voy a rescatar de Floor, que me encantó su version de Ghost Love of Score, la escucho muy amenudo, tanto como la de End of an era de Tarja.- y que hoy en día me encuentro esperando temas propios a su medida y capacidad de voz.- Prometo no juzgar antes de tiempo y darle una oportunidad a lo nuevo de Nigthwish.- Pero básicamente, no se pueden comparar, ni una ni la otra.- Estilos, historias y momentos diferentes.- Saludos!!!
gonzalo hernandez en algo tienes un poco de razon, pero tarja es tarja y su voz de un angel y nadie pero nadie a menos que sepa cantar como ella en esos tonos podra igualarla ni si quiera annet o floor ellas cantan como todas si escuela de canto en opera osea que es como escuchar cantar a unos loros y cuando escucho cantar a tarja escucho a un ruisenor me explico.
Realmente a Tarja sempre foi sensacional, e quando ela saiu, perdi muito do encanto pelo Nightwish. Não curti tanto a Anette mas... sendo justo, é um estilo diferente, não dá pra comparar, e naquela época também saíram músicas muito boas (com belos vocais, inclusive). Agora, com a Floor, eu voltei a curtir muito a banda. Ela foi uma ótima surpresa, pra mim... ando gostando muito dos vocais dela e de músicas mais recentes (sem jamais deixar de apreciar a época da Tarja).
Perry Davis Tarja had a ...more opera-like vocal that gave Nightwish its original taste. Some people never got over her departure. I sure did; I love Floor's style and voice, I actually prefer her stage presence to Tarja's. However, I dare not say the comparison can be made; I can't picture Tarja singing "Élan" but I prefer her interpretation of certain old songs, such as "Wish I had an angel", "Kinslayer" or "Wishmaster". I find Tarja's voice holds more aggression, while Floor's voice is more soothing.

Tarja stays for me the only and the best singer of NIGHTWISH. Her soprano's voice is so amazing ! She brought beauty and power

The amount of discipline and control in Tarja's voice is just outstanding. I'm a huge fan of Floor, but there are some times when you listen to something and it just stuns you and makes you think whether what you're hearing is real. Remember as well that this is LIVE and not just the best of 5 attempts in a studio. Excellent. Simply excellent.
Floor is talented, but she is no Tarja. I'm sorry..but they really need to fix that relationship and get back together. :-)
Tarja's best at live....no great music can be overtaken by a human voice accept tarja..since shes gone even their music seemso silent and never satisfy my thirst for it as it did when tarja was....missing the good old nightwish music....how could they even cut her off just like that after she dedicated so much for the band..they just fired her with a written letter and didnt have the courage to tell her in her face...shes the one that make their band this much precious and they could have given her a beautiful ending with respect even if they want her out...shes been with them more than 10 years and now they hurt her, firing her just by written letter...what kind of a cruel, self centered, selfish, uncared, heartless idiots just let her go like that...fuck them

@@greatiusiterfector4519 bro she deserved more money than the rest for sure just like tuommas did too since he composes and plays. tarja's playing is the hardest and most taxing of the band's parts. the others instrumentalists are all very easily replaceable. the band basically ended with her leaving
Tarja is a trained opera singer. Floor took some lessons but didn't proceed further. However you can hear Tarja, in this era, failing on the more modern sound especially on the lower notes. She beautiful hits those high notes and beautifully pulls out a full powerful sound on a classic work but she struggled like hell to mix the pop/rock sound with her training.
Now you can definitely hear she improved a lot, but we're talking like stuff I heard last year. It took her some time to get better.
Floor on the other hand uses a bit of her opera baggage to give some a specific style to the songs but focused more on training her voice to colour each particular of a song making her a full professional vocalist.
Clearly greatest live performance of Wishmaster ever. The whole group is in flames.
This song definitely made for Tarja.. and only for Tarja. Nobody can do better than her.

Anette's voice fits perfectly with the Imaginaerum and Dark Passion Play albums but definitely not with the oldschool works of the band. Only Tarja can handle them with divine mastery.
I do agree with you. There is no one else than Tarja to do this style songs on the ultimate top divine level. Anette and Floor are gereat too but it is the truth that only Tarja is for this style and original NW sound.

I agree, I like many of Nightwish's live songs more with Floor. But this, this one is Tarja's alone.

I hate to say it, but this is one of those performances that makes me disagree with that viewpoint. She misses the entrances twice, and ends up as much as a measure off at times putting her out of key with the rest of the band.
It was a chronic problem of her live performances, and when it happens you can sometimes see Toumas wincing at it. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Tarja... but live she often just goes "off the rails" and it often made me wonder how much of her "talent" was more the work of the A&R guys on the albums, than it was her musical talent.
Great voice, but would it have killed her once and a while to pay attention to the beat and what the rest of the band is playing? It's what made them feel like a novelty act, and not a cohesive band when live.
A problem Floor clearly lacks.
Jason Knight - No surprise Nightwish changed keys and have more basic arrangements for Floor sans pre-recorded orchestral and chorus parts he controlled with his keyboards. The band is supposed to follow the singer mostly. When Tarja was in Nightwish, for albums and live shows, the sound mixing regard the vocals as part of the whole music arrangements. With Floor, her vocals was highlighted. But hey, if you want Celine Dion like singer in Nightwish, fine with me. I want a singer whose passion and emotion can't be contained by a slick but soulless band. Who cares if Tuomas is wincing or flinching during live shows when he was chugging alcohol, Marco fighting for audience focus with Tarja, him and the short guitarist running around the stage while making faces. Only Jukka keep the beat. And Tarja always look to him at the end of the shows with appreciation.

The entire POINT of a rhythm section is to set the beat/tempo/pace of a song. That's why a drummer can make or break a band. Compositions too exist for a reason, and since Toumas is the huffing COMPOSER if that was the attitude they were given, I wouldn't have been surprised in the least at that being a contributor to Tarja being shown the door.
You want to ignore the rhythm section and the composition, go back to solo performances at a dinner theatre without an orchestra.
Ending up a measure or more off and out of key is not good musicianship and there's not a band in the world that's going to be able to follow a vocalist through that BS, no matter if the vocalist THINKS they're doing it to be "dramatic" or "put their own flair" on it.

Me gustaría dar mi opinión ya que leo muchos comentarios comparando a las 3 vocalistas:
En principio, Nigthwish tocó el cielo cuando combinaron lo instrumental con la voz lírica de Tarja, allá por el 2000/01, (que fue su momento culmine).
Con el tiempo, Tarja fue siendo "La cara del grupo" y en aquellos tiempos, nombrar a Nigthwish o hablar de la banda, era un 80% de Tarja y un 20% del resto.-
Por qué digo esto, por que fue tan genial esa combinación, que a muchos de nosotros nos conquistó, nos conquistó su voz, nos conquistó su estilo, nos conquistó su belleza, nos conquistó su forma de vestir, sus facciones, maquillaje y vestimenta que iban perfectos con la música que hacían, muchos detalles que mucha gente quizá no ven al momento de comparar.-
Lamentablemente para muchos que no lo creen, Tarja fue la persona que disparó notablemente a la banda, y a tener esa fama que hoy en día tiene.
Instrumentalmente son PERFECTOS todos! De hecho escucho muchos temas actualmente en su versión instrumental.-
La Idea de lo que venía escribiendo es para refrescar un poco y poner un criterio a mi opinión.-
Cuando hacen este recital, hay varias versiones que corren, la más leída y espero si me ayudan a su confirmación, es que le dieron una carta antes de hacer "End of an Era" diciendole que "Nigthwish es un sentimiento, y sus conductas capitalistas no nos van", aun así, ella salió y dio todo en este recital, y hoy en día para mí es el mejor recital de Nigthwish de todos los tiempos.-
La llegada de Anette Olzon, me dolió, por que inconscientemente le tomé rechazo a la banda luego de que echaran a Tarja, y me mal predispuse a escuchar la nueva música junto a la nueva vocalista, les digo, estoy bastante arrepentido, por que el Disco "Dark Passion Play" es uno de mis discos preferidos de Nigthwish.- Lo único que puedo decir de Annette es que tuvo los huevos de un rinoceronte en tomar el lugar de Tarja, se bancó puteadas, se bancó alientos a Tarja en recitales, la hicieron llorar e irse del escenario MIL veces, y la mina seguía ahí, aun así, nos dio a todos ese GRAN DISCO! Gracias Annette!
La llegada de Floor, no me disgustó, ni tampoco me gusta, simplemente, que los temas que la banda hacía con Tarja, son IRREPRODUCIBLES en otras Vocalistas, cuando quise escuchar Stargazer por Floor, y viendo que bajaron el tono de la melodía para que pueda llegar, automáticamente lo saqué.-
Voy a rescatar de Floor, que me encantó su version de Ghost Love of Score, la escucho muy amenudo, tanto como la de End of an era de Tarja.- y que hoy en día me encuentro esperando temas propios a su medida y capacidad de voz.- Prometo no juzgar antes de tiempo y darle una oportunidad a lo nuevo de Nigthwish.-
Pero básicamente, no se pueden comparar, ni una ni la otra.- Estilos, historias y momentos diferentes.-

Realmente a Tarja sempre foi sensacional, e quando ela saiu, perdi muito do encanto pelo Nightwish. Não curti tanto a Anette mas... sendo justo, é um estilo diferente, não dá pra comparar, e naquela época também saíram músicas muito boas (com belos vocais, inclusive).
Agora, com a Floor, eu voltei a curtir muito a banda. Ela foi uma ótima surpresa, pra mim... ando gostando muito dos vocais dela e de músicas mais recentes (sem jamais deixar de apreciar a época da Tarja).
2022 aún siento el poder de esta rola ....me activa en mis horas laborales me inyecta una energía tremenda

Perry Davis Tarja had a ...more opera-like vocal that gave Nightwish its original taste. Some people never got over her departure. I sure did; I love Floor's style and voice, I actually prefer her stage presence to Tarja's.
However, I dare not say the comparison can be made; I can't picture Tarja singing "Élan" but I prefer her interpretation of certain old songs, such as "Wish I had an angel", "Kinslayer" or "Wishmaster". I find Tarja's voice holds more aggression, while Floor's voice is more soothing.
