I'm going to korea for a year, I already researched about the climate that I will be facing ( Literally all 4 lol) BUT for my winter items i defiantly bought my cold weather items on amazon, everything fleeced lined and i bought good boots ( because I'm bigger than the natural korean lol). Its definitely costly but it'll be worth it.
yo buy your coat in south korea before it gets to winter from a place like teeny weeny - an actual korean shop - before winter hits when they're slightly cheaper. They're all goose down and stuff these days which is super good for keeping warm. They're an investment, but if you want to be comfortable, they're an investment you need to make (-14 celsius, 6.8 fahrenheit, plus strong wind dude). my friends all bought their winter coats from western brands when winter hit, and they paid more than i did and were colder. when you're on the subway etc always undo your coat, not because you'll overheat if you don't, but because you'll feel colder when you head back outside. You can take a blanket to class, or just keep your coat on but undone. make sure your boots have been waterproofed and have good traction (ice ice baby), and buy thermal tights and tops that you can put under your clothes. Reusable heat pads are great, and you can stick them under your clothes. Buy the non reusable ones in bulk. Places will sell huge packs of them. during the summer, always carry a jacket - they have ac on so high inside they literally have a word for getting a cold from it. and it just sucks to be that bloody cold. (also, non clothing advice - download kakao map and kakao bus onto your phone. You'll need to be able to read hangul but google maps doesn't work in sk, and kakao bus let's you set an alarm for two stops before you get to your stop and other great stuff like that. They're in English, but place names are often still in hangul) I think that's all the advice i can think of for now

I'm fearing the opposite problem. I live in Ohio so I'd be dang ready for that German winter, but I'm studying abroad next semester in Italy, so I have no clue what one does for a mild winter... I am in Florence, though, which I have heard gets fairly cold.
I studied abroad in Japan and holy shit the humidity damn near killed me. I can't handle the heat well so I was dying everyday. I was drenched in sweat, I had no energy, I only wanted to stay inside because I felt so gross and sweaty - and even indoors was hot. And their winters? BRUTAL. Good luck to anyone going to Japan if you don't fare well with the heat. I have no idea how best to survive in that kinda climate other than sunblock is your friend, water is your best friend, and fans in the conbini are your lifesaver.

OMG I'm going to Hamburg in a month and spending an exchange semester there (winter). Thanks for warning us about the winter but..it's too late.. I've already bought so much winter equipment *cries* What's more I come from Singapore where the temperature never goes below 25 degrees celsius so..not looking forward to it :'( Do u have any suggestions on places where we can get affordable winter wear in Germany such as said scarf? Zara has great scarf options, I was lent one by a friend from there that was like a blanket and super warm, but sometimes they can range from affordable to pricey. There are shops, thrift stores, and department stores (Peek & Cloppenburg, C&A?) around the Hauptbahnhof in Hamburg that may carry nicer options. Scarves and winter wear are a bit of an investment. I'm going two years to Europe. Finland from Sep to Feb, Netherlands from March to Sep and Germany from Oct to August. I'm having headaches on what to pack because I'll be going to different countries with somehow diff weather. 😥 I'm guessing I can use what I use for Finnish winter for Germany winter. And what I use for Netherlands spring-summer for Germany spring-summer. Still... I'm stuck at the moment.
Where are you going in Germany, because in most of Germany the climate is really similar to the Dutch weather in spring- summer. So I guess you can bring the same clothes for that. Finnish winters can be quite a lot colder than the German winters, still depending on where you are going in Germany
Which city in The Netherlands. If I can say one thing about Dutch spring/summer as a Dutchie: there is barely any nice spring and summer weather. Summer lasts 5 good days so do not pack too many summer clothes.
For the Netherlands you won't be needing a lot of real summer clothes, I would say, bring: a few t-shirts, a denim jacket you can wear with almost everything, a few jeans( recommend bringing more long jeans than short jeans) 1-3 sweaters, 1 dress and maybe a legging for if its cold and you still want to wear the dress❤😊

I was there from September to May, so all clothes suggestions should apply! I would bring T-shirts just to have, as buildings tend to be super warm, but since you'll only be there until February, I wouldn't bother taking a ton of summer clothes. Unless you decide to go somewhere in southern Europe in September, but even then, it gets cold down there too!

We are having an unusually long hot summer here in Europe this year, however comme September it will most likely have cooled down just a little bit so you should be fine with jeans and t-shirts, especially if you're used to even warmer climates
I live in Germany close to Mannheim and Heidelberg and I was a bit surprised about what you said about the climate in Germany, but I guess if you were in Lüneburg it makes sense. Lüneburg is in the north of Germany so it is probably a cold region of Germany. The region I live in is one of the warmest in Germany and it gets really hot in the summer. Not as hot as it gets in Texas, but from April or May to September or October there are definitelly days were you can wear hot pant and dresses. In July and especially right now in August it is so hot that you have to wear shorts or summer dresses outside or you can't stand the heat. The winter in Germany is definitelly a lot colder than the winter in Texas. I studied abroad in Lousiana close to the border to Texas and the winter there to me didn't feel like a "real winter" it felt like fall in Germany.
I trust you on Baden-Württemberg's weather! I only got to experience Heidelberg during the fall/wintery season. Winter in the "American South" is very much like Germany's fall weather. Here, however, there's really no "fall weather". Just straight from summer to winter, which means no adjustment time to the cold, which in turn just makes us all wimps to cold weather haha! But sending cooler thoughts your way! It's unusually hot there this summer.

Be ready for any kind of weather: hot, cool, humid, dry, rainy, cold, hurricane, etc. The weather can be extremely unpredictable particularly during that time of year! But also be aware that it's pretty hot here (average is around 29 degrees celsius) up until about November. If you're going to be in southern/central Texas, you probably won't need a super heavy winter coat, like a ski jacket. The weather down here is pretty tropical and mild during the winter compared to Germany. If you're going to be in North Texas it's a bit cooler and drier up there and sometimes it snows, so you might need a heavier jacket. Water-resistant backpacks are nice, especially if you're going to be walking around outside and around a college campus. When it rains/torrential downpours (happens a lot here), you won't have to worry too much about your stuff getting soaked while walking to class. Clothes sometimes fit a little different here than they do there, especially if you're super tall, a lot of times it can be harder to find garments that fit properly, so bring your favorite pieces that you like wearing regularly and then explore a bit when you get here (again it's warm here most of the year, so you don't need a ton of winter gear, just a couple basics!). If you have a preferred skincare or medications that you need to take, you'll need to research and see if you can buy the products or be prescribed the medications here as well. Some skincare products that you can generally find at an Apotheke, can sometimes also be found here, but you'll have to research that. With medication, if your insurance doesn't cover the costs of it (cost-coverage changes from insurance company to insurance company), you'll have to pay out of pocket for it and it can sometimes be super expensive depending on the medication. Hi there! I'm not certain, but I think I capped my main clothing at like 25 or 30 pieces, not including professional and sleepwear. But I think I stated the exact number in my packing video! It's a hard process and I spent at least a month revising my packing list and suitcase. Good luck and have fun in Sweden!

Italy actually can get pretty chilly! Just make sure to look up the weather patterns there and be ready for anything to happen.
