I currently drive an 07 RAV4 Limited V6. My friends have told me I get more "utility" out of an SUV than anyone else they know. Huge bike rack on the back, two kayak racks on top, which also double as lumber carriers for home projects. I took out the 3rd row seats and put containers in the floor wells that hold a ton of stuff. Then I cut a piece of plywood and covered it in rubber flooring as a rear deck, which allows me to carry even more stuff. And the V6 RAV is insanely powerful for a mid-size crossover. It's fun to pull up next to Porsche Cayennes and blow their doors off. I have no interest in the current RAV4. At 200hp, it's bringing nothing special to the table. And it looks exactly like every other mid-size crossover on the market today. I can't believe Doug said it looks "less generic" than the previous generations. With it's high rear roofline and the rear-mounted space, you could identify a 3rd gen RAV from a mile away. Every mid-size crossover today looks the same. The only thing they did for the 5th gen RAV was square every curve off, trying to make it look more masculine.

The one in this video is a XLE, which I think it really shouldn't have these wheels, they look like they belong on the LE, but Toyota stuck hubcaps on the LE. The XLE Premium and Limited have better looking alloys.
Honestly I'd like to see more "regular" car reviews Doug. Not at the expense of other interesting cars but there's a lot to be learned from what the mainstream manufacturers are expecting people to buy right now. There's some serious insight to be had there.
Just took a test drive of both the gas and hybrid versions of the RAV4. The hybrid felt like I was piloting something out of Star Trek. I like how chunky the front end looks on the gas version. I can see where corners are for parking. Yes it looks tank-ish. This is a serious contender as a replacement for my current car. Loved the physical buttons.
No one: Doug Demiro; This car is an AMAZING bargain, one of the best value for money cars ever made. The amount of tech is unbelievable. But it only gets a 9.
Doug is comparing these to collectible cars that are expected to increase in value and luxury cars that have depreciated 90% in a short period due to being no longer fashionable
Yeah they’re pretty fugly. That and the plastic trim look awful, IMO the outside of a vehicle, everything should be either paint matched, 2-toned, or chrome. No bare plastic it looks like shit. Also I’m not a big fan of roof racks and most people don’t use them besides when they bring home a Christmas tree.
Doug is the kind of guy that you could call for help moving a couch. Only to convince you it’ll fit on the roof of your Prius and your route includes a hwy.
My uncle had a rav 4 from 1996 which had like 200k miles and he gave it to my brother. That thing was such a good and reliable car. Japanese cars are just better than German cars.
This video won't have as many views as super cars, however, he says nice things about this vehicle, viewers are satisfied for reviewing a regular car (which some of us wanted) and he gets paid from the dealership and makes equal money like he would from the views of a super car. The problem is, I don't find this review honest like I always do with Sofyan and Redline. Not a hater, just pointing out...
Doug, a lot of the reason for splitting the body side outer panel comes from the fact that they don't have to grow their stamping presses if they split it into two. So there's also savings when it comes to tooling as they can extend the life of current presses

Douglas DeMuro: A Musical: The soft rays of sunlight poured with passion through a glare upon the windshield, as its tender light kissed the grille and blanketed an array of quirks and their lesser known brethren, the features, with an amber hue of which only the Maker himself could imbue. A young man, gangly legged and sporting not one, but two layers of t-shirt gazed with a quiet grace at the eye of the lens before him. "And now!’’ he proclaimed, his voice icy with defiance, all the while calm and collected, the very picture of a rugged 19th century cowboy..."for the quirks and features!" His bellow a cacophony of resounding knowledge, his smile an ode to a bygone era where the men were men and the women were damn glad for it. Dirt kicked with a fury from the road, jostling the ground below. A thick haze permeated the evening glare, the smell of burning rubber stamping its mark upon the soul. Murky shadows rolled in, and just like that, as quickly as he arrived, he was gone. Down the road in another man’s automobile. Forging forward into the depths of the unknown, the world his oyster. He turned ever so gracefully back at the fading sun. "And now, to give it a Doug score!" he wailed. Yes, my dearly beloved, he rode in with the fire of a thousand suns, that Douglas did...and it was to be into that very sunset he would ride again. Farewell, my dearest Douglas. We hardly knew ye.
Stephen Hendricks Yeah, I know. I reviewed one of my channel. It’s surprising, but a CRV is WAY bigger than the Mazda, but I drive a Mazda6 and prefer Mazdas.
I bought a 2019 Rav 4. Love it! I use the Apple Car Play all the time. The enhanced cruise control is nice on long drives. Lane assist needs work. I don’t regret the purchase.
I prefer the Mazda CX 5. One of the main reasons I like it more than the RAV4 is because of android auto. Apart from that they are pretty similar and the CX 5 is nicer to drive and just as reliable
I wish my mom's 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee came with addaptive cruise for the price. Well, if it can't adapt, just use its HEMI V8 to pass everyone until you're up front! *Evil laugh*
Perhaps the biggest benefit of the split pillar is easier refinishing - most bodyshops prefer to clear the entire panel, so breaks like that make it much easier to repair in that way.
We just ordered our new Rav4 the other day and it get's delivered next week :) The moment I test drove the Rav4 I was sold, the amount of safety kit you get in even the base model just can't be beat and with a little 1 year old that was at the top of my must-have's. It also ticket the great boot space box which anyone who has a big pram will know is important if you don't want to be playing Tetris every time you go shopping. P.S. That rubber flooring in the boot actually flips and it is carpeted on the other side so you can choose rubber or carpet.
47/100 kinda shows you how disconnected reviews are with what people actually need. Other than handling, the RAV4 hits all the responsibilities of a suv perfectly.
No oil diluting motor.. No turbo chargers to fail down the road..Good looks..Sterling reputation for durability and reliability.. option for a hybrid. It's a no brainer😎 nothing really compares in terms of reliability and longevity.nothing 😁
You hit the nail on the head about the tech (Toyota Safety Sense Version 2, TTS V2). I leased a 2017 Rav4 and was amazed by tech and the reason why I leased a new 2019 is because you get all this safety tech (pre-collision, auto brake, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot, rear traffic alert). To get that in most other SUV's is several thousands more and some don't even offer all that tech.

That's why I drive an Element now, it's like that on steroids. I'm scared for the day I have to replace it though because everything has turned into something like this RAV4 right here.
Totally agree! As a 2008 Rav4 driver, the more I see the newer Rav4, the more I wonder how much function is being sacrificed for form.
