"Taking something to your grave" means that you would never tell anyone. You wouldn't want anyone to know that Hikaru played a normal opening against you?
There was a meme in Hikaru Subreddit, where you think hes taking a long time to make a move, but hes actually just thanking his subs. Overall was an amazing game
I’m really glad to see Levy having more confidence in his games vs some of his other videos. Levy gives his opponents their respect but he doesn’t give himself the respect her deserves. As long as you’re playing another human, there is always the possibility of winning. I’m glad Levy stuck with his gut more and didn’t overthink his moves as much this game. I’m happy to see that
Loved your breakdown of the game and the way you explain your decision-making process. The self-awareness and authenticity throughout the game is encouraging for everyday players and beginners trying to navigate their own games.
Everyone talking about how mentally hard it is for levy to play against hikari as he's the second highest rated blitz player , very very accomplished in many ways this and that . Think about how stressful it must be for hikaru to not lose to levy as levy definitely would make a big fuss in the community if he won against hikaru
I would love to se a video of you emphasising the speed of these blitz/bullet games, and how you calculate multible moves ahead without spending time on the clock! 😊
You mostly play on instinct, based on what you know about the position, and take the most time on moments where you feel you might be better if you find the right move or tactic, which is again based on a feeling/intuition
It's like playing guitar or any instrument for that matter or if you don't play any, think of it like driving a car manually. In the beginning, you'll think about what gear to put the car in and you sometimes even forget what gear you in but as you drive more and more and become experienced, it all becomes naturally and you don't think about gears while driving. It is similar here as chess has become second nature to them.
The Sicilian I see against my e4 maybe 30-40% of the time. Almost never see the Scandi. That's why I like it. Puts half the players I play against on defense from the 1st move.
This video was the most enjoyable that includes analysis. I dont even play chess seriously but only for fun, the way you explained everything was very informative. Usually i cant understand youre analaysis but this was enjoyable. Thanks Hikaru.
its nice to see this game in both this video and hikaru video to see both of their point of view. like the one where the queen was almost trapped both of them got excited/scared for a second
Great opportunity for a joke at the beginning of the vid when he was talking about the dread of playing against Hikaru. He said it was like going to the dentist where he just needs to "sit...and be brave, and whatever." I would've died if I heard something like "lie back and think of the London system"
Gotta admit man, I have no idea how to play chess nor do I care to learn but your videos are entertaining and enjoyable to watch throughout. Congrats on that.
I swear when you watch gothamchess explain one game, it feels like watching 20 different games because he gives different alternate interactions of the one game for each move. When he resets back to the current progress of the match I just think, “wait, none of that actually happened?”

Hi @GothamChess, Could you find out percentage wise how many bullet/blitz/rapid end in out of time. Maybe divided in elo categories and white or black position.😊 Might be a great next vid. Thanks a lot!
Anonymous chess should be a thing, you only find out who you've played afterwards. The results might be a surprise as some people get star-struck by the 'big names'.
Epic chess when you're being humiliated for 30 minutes in a row?
Yeah man, I believe you
Pin of shame!
💀
The chess is still epic. His title stand strong :)
It's even better now that we know this has absolutely no effect on him
Trashtalking an IM by a player with no elo 😂😂😂
Hikaru did a normal opening?! If I was Levy, I'd take that compliment to my grave.
