I did like the show. But if I’m going to be honest, belly was one of the most frustrating characters, because she just couldn’t make up her mind. She liked Conrad well dating Cam (and it was VERY obvious that she did. So obvious that Cam ended up noticing), then broke up with him because she almost kissed Conrad?! Which, was all for nothing, since she ended up kissing Jeremiah instead. I found that really surprising and confusing since Jeremiah liking her came out of no where, and was not shown at all in the episodes before except for when he saw belly and Conrad almost kiss. BUT well her and Jeremiah are a thing she STILL. LIKES. CONRAD. I feel like she just told Jeremiah that she felt the same way because she now no longer had Cam or Conrad, and she wanted to rub it in Conrad’s face that she had “moved on”. Idk, that’s just my opinion personally.

Agree entirely. Also, if she was a GOOD person, she would have told Jeremiah that she isn't ready for anything before she is fully sure she was over Conrad. Leading someone on jsut because they give you attention is the number one toxic trait of all. Also, can I just say how throughout the entire fucking show Belly does not do a SINGLE good thing for Suzanah, her mom, or ANYONE for that matter other than being bothered to hoe around for no fucking reason. Ngl Belly was a very frustrating character for me sometimes lol but looking back at 16 year old me I get it lol I was impulsive and made some really stupid choices back then too. I realized I was being too harsh on Belly's character. The whole point of this series is to show kids growing up, and Belly has a long way to go. She's the perfect embodiment of your average teen - selfish, impulsive, fickle, and insecure. Should she take accountability for her actions? Yes, but it doesn't change the fact that she has a lot of growing up to do.

I'm on like the 4th episode right now - Belly is immature, but it's kind of expected because this is her first time trying out romantic relationships. She's not good at them because she can't define her feelings well enough to say "Hey, I think you're cute, but I just don't return my feelings the same as you" to Cameron, or once she is in a relationship, to think "Before I do anything with someone else, I should talk to my current partner." I also think that she feels like she can do anything now that boys like her...? Er, that sounds weird, but like, when you feel invincible (ie. Belly's glow up brought up her confidence) when you feel like things are going your way for once?
I do wonder how else Belly could've confessed her feelings to Conrad starting at the beginning of her stay, no extra drama. Well... once she found out that Conrad and Nicole were romantically close, and Nicole/the debutants began asking her about details about Conrad. In that situation Belly had to reply like normal or stay quiet because she can't exactly say, "I'm uncomfortable talking about this because I actually like Conrad too!" I don't know, I just like that this show shows a girl very clearly being messy in her first relationships so people can discuss what healthy relationships are - especially for people who are lost or have no idea (like me lol). This rant came out of nowhere but I just wanted to put down my thoughts, I'd love to hear what you think 😅🌻

To be honest the first time I watched the show I felt like there was something there but I just assumed it was because he flirted with everyone so I was surprised when he confessed his love. But now I’ve re-watched the show a few times and now I can really see the earlier hints.

Idk I just feel like if you like someone (and has always liked them like he said) then you wouldn’t leave them all by themselves at a party to go hang out with other girls, while knowing that they don’t know anyone at the party.

The book does a better job of fleshi g things out. I went i to it thinking it was a wish fulfillment y/n story but it does show how in the past boys in her life treated her like she didnt exist based on her looks and a lot of the relationships in the book was grappling with the sudden change in behavior from guys in general. She doesnt know how to date, she doesnt know whose trying to take advantage of her, shes trying to make new friends but its awkward and bad not everyone falls at her feet cause shes pretty in the books. There was depth there!!! But the show focuses on the more romantic parts
I love at the end where Conrad is saying that absolutely cringy and cheesy line and you can see you like the light in his eyes die as he realizes how awkward what he is saying is.

Stefan and consequently Daemon only got closer to Elena bc she was Katherine's doppelganger and they both fell for her in the past. Sure, they came to love her for who she was and not just her looks, but that's essentially what drove them into Elena's life and they both protected her from constant danger. It's not like she CHOSE to mess around with their feelings like Belly did

@@frankiejoanne8420 I actually noticed a few moments when he was jealous of Cam. But I could be reading too much into it because I'm a Jelly stan lol.
When he met Cam, he was being super protective of Belly when she tried to ride home with Cam which can also be seen as like big brother protection but also the way he teased him by calling him Cam Cameron and how he watched them as Cam asked her to go whale watching in the morning.
Belly's birthday dinner scene when he kept giving Cam a hard time about not liking meat while Belly does. He even gave them a weird look before he starts teasing Cam.
The karaoke scene at the party because he noticed Cam and Belly were laughing and being cute, he was like uh no this will not do and start singing to distract them from each other.
His jealousy was just not as aggressive as it was with her and Conrad because he probably didn't see Cam as too much as a threat. He knew that Belly and Conrad was much more intense so he had to be more aggressive and petty when it came to them.

The same behaviour was exhibited in, shit even mammals/animals, like how a male animal often has to fight another male animal to be able to reproduce with a female animal, to show that he's rightfully succeeded in winning her over and can provide security for her. Not saying all guys only look at looks, and girls only look at money, people can obv be diff, but its just our biological initial drive in our brains ig.

I feel like they didn’t develop Jeremiah enough like for season 1 it should’ve been split equally with Belly love interest but they kinda made it all about Conrad and didn’t really give no one else a chance and the development they gave him most of it was for Jeremiah in the book I just felt like they wrote it so Conrad can be seen as the sole person to root for
I kinda see why they did it, cause in the books made me not like Conrad at all and then the 3 book felt like plot contrivances to make her end up with Conrad imo. So maybe they wanted to make Conrad more root-able. Cause from what I remember I wasn’t rooting for Conrad I’m for the first 2 books that’s for sure

-honestly forgot the rest but it’s definitely different but I think it is at least more developed
-they completely botched jeremiahs character arc in the last book to make conrad seem more likeable
