The way you explain things in the video is extremely helpful. I love the video work and editing. Curious how they slide / feel on different terrain like streets and powerslides on different things. Also, sick skating!
The slide is extremely satisfying, they feel more like sliding on a longboard with a super creamy slide and very little chatter. They ride ok on rough terrain but if you're skating to a spot id prolly want the softer ones. You can buy the same shape in different sizes and also the 93 duro formula which i havent tried. They have a nice amount of stickiness and they look like little marshmallows which i enjoy.
Got these from the Chermside store before they could hit the shelf a few weeks ago and I have to say the are the best wheels I've had in my 20+ years of skateboarding. So smooth and the stability it offers when on the rail is better than I expected. Opened up heaps of new stuff to learn.
You are literally the only other person I've ever explicitly hear say that for slappies what you need is a rounded outer edge. Maybe that's because most classic wheel shapes have this anyway, but I found out the hard way when I got myself a set of Spitfire "OG Cuts", which are just perfectly flat on the side with no transition to the bottom at all. These look nice though. Riding the X formulas now but think I'll go back to the softest F4s after. In my experience, the softer duro, while making for a smoother ride on rough ground, doesn't necessarily make really shitty ground fun to skate, but it does make pristine skatepark concrete feel a little sticky somehow. Really depends what kind of skating you do, but for me I'm fairly sure the best all-round wheel remains the Spitfire F4 99d.
@@chrhadden In 95 (old head here) I rode a 7.5 deck with 54 mm wheels mainly because I'd seen Mat Reason and Ricky Oyola ride bigger wheels. Never been to Philly or the East Coast at all, but I'm from Europe, so trust me I know shitty ground ;)
@@ariekanibalie if i would have known any of that i wouldnt have said anything lol you are 95 and you skate? you might very well be our oldest. one of the main reasons i came back was because it hurts to much to walk and i dont have a car, bikes get stolen. you are officially one of my heroes sir
Andy anderson is the man. I hate that people make fun of him and shit he's such a nice guy and so freaking smart. Dudes a genius especially when it comes to skateboarding. I've never met him but I'd beat someone's ass over that dude.
It's important to mention that these wheels are wider and about 1 wheel heavier together then most sets of 52mm wheels. The wheels add 0.25 inch to the axle width which is perfect if you want to match low trucks like Tensor or Venture (they usually go only up to 8 inches) with 8.25 inch deck for example, or upscale your board widght without changing the trucks. It's also important to mention that these won't slide much because of larger contact surface but that can change over time when they become more conical. In general they work great on curbs, walls and for freestyle trick because they prevent axle threads from damage, digging into your soles but also from axles hitting your shins when missing flip tricks. In general they are great all-around wheels but not for everyone. BTW being wider also means that they feel a bit softer then 97A and probably will make them last longer.
As far as axle wear why not use washers. The most neglected skateboard part in history. If you use washers to your liking they protect your threads and affect absolutely nothing negatively. I wont even tell you outside or inside as it’s all subjective. I personally wear shin guards however having a flat surface like an axle nut hit shin is different than axle hitting shin. I think basically he created a good wheel if you like the feel. I found it grippy. It’s cool. As far as necessary, properly using washers and thinking outside the box just a pinch may save you the money and definitely fix the main issue
If you didn't grip or hang up on ts or ns, wait until you wear away the outermost gloss off the wheels and they slide ridiculous! I used the 56mm conical dragons🐉🛞 for downhill on a 33" old school 🛹 w/total control of speed and every slide!
I just got a set of the bones x-97a 56mm v6 shape and absolutely love them so far. They’re wide with a rounded edge like a radial but side cut like a conical. Also tried Bronson g3 bearings and have been impressed so far
thanks for the review! I think they're coming out with the Nano Cubic shape in more sizes and the 93a Dragon formula.. I'll be curious how you think those compare to these and the originals.. I also have both, and am looking forward to this new variation..
Legend mate! Thanks heaps for watching. Great to hear they're coming out with more variations of the Nano Cubic. Might have to give the others a go too!
I like the wheel but they need to take 1/8th off the bolt end! If you have an 8.25 board and trucks and like to go fast BEWARE they will clip your heel they still put 1/16 past the bolt and will catch your heel
If there is an improvement in slappy’s then that’s awesome. As far as all of the other benefits of the wheel it benefits freestylers who railstand. Any other issues can be fixed easily with washers
Thank you for the awesome review !! Glad the wheels are working for youuu ❤
Andy! You legend! Thanks for watching mate!
Big fan of these wheels!
Got these on my 10” slappy setup and yes…they are damn near perfect
Tell the whole setup 😮 which trucks?
So good to hear mate! Thanks for watching!
Damn I wish they had skateparks like this one in LA 😢
like you guys dont have the best out of all of us lol or did you mean Louisiana? if so , i wish you did too

They slide fine once broken in.

They were originally released as 93A Dragons , these are new.
54 mm also available.
i have been wanting a 97 a version of the dragons in 58mm. before these all they had was up to 54mm and i didnt like them
Nice review, already got a set and have been liking them so far.
Appreciate you Chilly Cheez! Thanks for watching!
hey! what did you think about them after all this time?
@@johnny8030 ya can't flip em so they cone. Other than that they are pretty nice.
Nice I just got a set. What park is that? Looks so rad
Rad! It's called Sydney Park (In Sydney, haha).
Been skating since 1976,these wheels are faves
i was born in 74 and i thought i was old. keep shredding sir hell yeah! if thats not og i dont know who is

I can still use regular bearings with these?
Sure can, the bearings just sit further to the back of these wheels!
I would like to get them; only setback is price. Down the line though, when I want to perfect my setup, I will probably come back to these.
is 10$really going to break the bank though? if you just brought coffee or your lunch from home for 2 weeks, that would cover the cost. for example
Thx. Cool review man. I just got the nano cubics 56 97 & lm really lookin forward to runnin them. I also got a heroin deck like u. 👍
Thanks mate! Sick, You will love them!
@@fasttimesskateboarding Yep. I love em. Thx
Thats the best looking skatepark ive seen. It looked like street
a street from skate 3 lol
As I'm currently divulging in slappies I may have to buy a set.
Thanks for watching mate! They're soo good!
Best wheels I've ever skated.
Glad you like them!
I noticed how smooth that slappy was... the wheels?
The outer edge 'Climb' profile definitely helps getting into Slappy's!
Bro you're really good RESPECT 💪 subbed
How about on metal? For me they are super sticky when grinding or sliding metal rails or coping. Other than that I love them
We haven't had any problems sliding or grinding on rails but thanks for the feedback mate!
thats a dope street style park
Sooo much fun! Cheers for watching!
When did people start thinking 97a is soft and will let you roll over rough ground or hit a pebble and not take a spill?
They definitely help with Slappys easier. I can tell a huge difference
Andy definitely designed a great wheel!
im getting a set but 58mm. big fan of this wheel line. nothing else will work for me now. im not exaggerating
Sick! The Nano Cubics are definitely the real deal!
I like the wheel but they need to take 1/8th off the bolt end! If you have an 8.25 board and trucks and like to go fast BEWARE they will clip your heel they still put 1/16 past the bolt and will catch your heel
good point. i know i wouldnt want smaller trucks. if anything i want bigger deck and trucks
Smaller trucks might be the go for this one!
Not a fan of the spitfire radials anymore??
The only downside is not being able to rotate your wheels..Definitely a really cool, innovative design though.
That's what I thought you can't flip them. But you can still rotate in an X
Ive never really been a fan of mini logo/bones wheels..they look cheap to me..
common sense wheels that should have been made 30 years ago.....

they were somewhat. they were called cross bones xbones 95 a at the time. i loved them. they looked really cool too
