@3:50 or so, I could not understand what 'chmod' couldn't do and why we have to use ACL. Must be a simple thing but I didn't get it.
Got it: If you need to setup permissions to a whole new user (of another group), then ACL would be used. Here a dir is owned by 'hdfs', but ACL is used to also have 'root' user read/execute as well.

If the files are not executables then how the map-reduce programs execute on HDFS. I understand that they use Map-reduce framework but still the files would be execuatbles and stored on HDFS.

please i have a question can you create a tutorial for HUE (creating users with permission not to delete any data file from hue i.e tables of hive and hbase ) so that users only have the permission to execute the query and read the tables from beeswax.

You should be able to achieve it easily using Ranger. I thought of adding a video on Ranger as a next item. But focus changed to something else. Will do it sometime.
