For the third edition of Benidorm Fest 16 artists will be competing for the chance to represent Spain at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden. Today we're taking a look at which of them are looking like the most likely contenders for the win before the live shows!
Spain is getting ready to select it's next Eurovision hopeful through Benidorm Fest, a televised musical spectacle that has served as the country's national selection program since 2022. Today we're looking at what the festival has achieved in its first two years, and speculating on whether or not the festival will keep going past 2025.

It's quite amazing how Benidorm Fest has just turned up out of nowhere to become one of the strongest NFs every year. Frankly, I haven't a clue who will win, and the point you make about the winner only being clear once we see the live performances is one of the things that makes BF so great.

Last year they finished dead last in the televote and this year they have a bunch of local sounding songs but nothing that could do any damage in ESC.

As I was listening to St Pedro’s song, I felt calm. This song can really create this calming and warm atmosphere! Excited to see it live!

1 St Pedro
2 Sofia Coll
3 Almácor
But ,in my opinion,the best song is "El temps", by Roger Padrós.
Considering the fact that a lot of countries (both NFs and internal selection) are leaning towards party/pop/rock/electro songs, personally I feel st Pedro is a better choice in Eurovision.

St Pedro has the best song and he is going to bring us a very accurate performance.
Jorge González is hiding good cards, a dance break with a new version of the song,
Sofia Coll: strong performance, very accurate and artistic.
Almacor: energetic and surprising show
Lerica: a surprising galactic party with a very professional team.

It’s a nice and very Spanish/ Portuguese sounding song, but it’s the wrong choice for Eurovision.
It would barely scrap 20-30 points from the jury and almost surely get 0 from the televote, bottom 3 would be almost a certainty.

Great analysis of the songs. I would add regarding Nebulossa's song the issue of the live performance, maybe is the song that once on stage change more people's likes. My favorite to go to Malmo is Dos Extraños by st. Pedro. It has it all to make a big impact in Eurovision qualitywise. Once again, thanks for your vid, very well done.

I think these are the main candidates, someone else winning would surprise me. Knowing the jury and that it has half of the voting power I think it will be either between St. pedro or Jorge unless they disapoint with the staging and someone else brings a powerful concept like blanca last year.

Well you ended up covering my full Top 6 so I can be happy about that. It seems to me that we might be headed for the same situation as last year where basically all the right songs qualify and the final ends up incredibly strong.
Dos Extraños winning would be a dream come true. It really seems like the song has the potential for a really special performance which could surpass a lot of people's expectations.
Remitente is my 2nd aswell though I do worry about this one's chances with the Benidorm jury. This is destined to get a high score from the televote no matter what I think but the jury I feel could mark it down, especially if the vocals are any less than stellar (although they might end up being stellar we'll see).
Here to stay winning would make me very happy, as would Zorra or Sé quien soy as unlikely as I think those are. And I also really like No se me olvida though that's even less likely to win.
Amor de verano definitely gives me Nochentera vibes musically albeit less catchy, and while this has potential to be a good radio hit I think it's very unlikely to win.
So with that it's just down for me to hope that neither Brillos platino or Caliente win. I don't think I need to worry too much about Brillos platino but Caliente does have potential if they give an amazing performance.
As for the songs you didn't mention, I kinda don't have anything to say about them. Me vas a ver is my favourite among them, I find it quite cute. But none of those 7 I think really have any chance at all to win, and most of them seem quite unlikely to even qualify.
Great video! and I look forward to hopefully seeing your commentary on some of the other National Finals we've got going this year. A lot of them so far seem to be disappointing me somewhat, I'd say besides Benidorm my excitement is highest for Norway's MGP as of now.

I've seen people saying this was the biggest downgrade for a NF between to editions. I don't think there are super strong standouts at the moment but also I don't find any song to be "bad". I don't know where all the bad reception comes from lol.
Luis and Fran have both said that there aren't that many songs that are typical styles for Eurovision and that RTVE seems to be prioritizing music that appeals to the local market. The biggest exception would be Sofia which is the international fan favourite.
my faves are Remitente, "Sé Quien Soy", Caliente, "Dos Extraños" and "Me Vas a Ver". as you see, no urban pop with some EDM touches. you see "Flamengo", pop rock/soft rock, "Latin" dance song, good bolero ballad, and another party song.

Finally listened to all the Benidorm songs and I have to say, Yoly Saa’s song really surprised me! Yoly Saa’s song is top tier for me! I really hope it does well but if it goes to Eurovision by some miracle, I’ll be over the moon!

I’m confident Almacor will be able to perform his song live, so in my mind it’s Almacor vs st. Pedro for who is going to win Benidorm Fest, with Maria Pelae or Angy as a third contender that could surprise for the win! Sofia Coll might not appeal to more of a general audience and therefore flop, while Nebulossa will do great, but not come near to winning.

Great job on bringing this analysis! I'd love seeing st. Pedro or Yoly Saa winning Benidorm Fest... even though my favorite song of all 16 is actually the least probable to win (El Temps, Roger Padros) 😢.

I am convinced that if Spain send st Pedro they win ESC. People compare it to Portugal because of the fragility of the song, but st Pedro is even better because that song could perfectly hit the world hit charts. It’s a classy masterpiece but it can perfectly go mainstream. It has a contemporary feel to it.
