My friend armature theuri is so long subject.But if you want to understand generaly armature rewinding you must inspect every armature motor carbon holder side angle and then armature commotator connections.
My friend you can rewind your 12 slat 24 pcs armature as 12 slat 12pcs.

first you should check commotator with series lamp if any two pcs are short then you change commotator otherwise your commotator is ok.
You can perchase copper wire from electrical motor parts store.
