The lyrics are almost the same but the rest is pure Jimmy Page.
I don't make any money off of this as it is copyrighted. It took about 6 hours to put it together. I saw a lot of Led Zep reactions and no one had a clue what it was about so I thought I would use some of my retirement time up.
Thank you very insightful, I never knew any of the historical info. History & Music are my favorites. Needles to say this check both boxes.❤
I appreciate your comment. Makes me feel good about making this video!
Always loved this song & now it seems relavilent to what's going on in the 🌎🎵😎✌️
Wow, amazing song, amazing video... to think of how your whole world could be torn asunder and there is nothing you can do to fix it. Savor every moment with your loved ones 💔 Thank you for this good use of your retirement. I hope you do more.
You are absolutely right, we never know what can befall us so fast that would leave us in such a terrible situation. Thanks you for your in sight.
the drums....the drums....the power they got.....
Glyn Johns added some delay and microphone distance to get that wide effect.
Absolutely in my Top 5 of Zeppelin songs!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
For sure, me too.
Great song, and a fantastic history lesson. Thank you !
Glad you enjoyed it
I Must concur
From their Finest album ! Absolutely Wonderiffic !
This is the thousand times and it feels like I never heard it
Plant played an excellent harmonica
He does not get a lot of credit for that.
My favorite led zed song. Thanks for the history. Will check out the original
Mine too and your welcome.
The Great LED ZEPP🤘🤘🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Great- GREAT -song!!!
Yes a classic!
Would you expect anything less from them?
I'm 77 and I remember this one, those were the days.
Ya, never got to see them. They were going to play in Chicago (I lived in Indy) and the only way to get tickets was to get a coupon from the Chicago tribune and mail it in. I got the paper from the Indy airport but it was not the "metro" edition so it did not have it. I found a airline pilot that was doing a round trip and gave him $20 for five papers to bring back. I went home put on the radio and started dancing until the DJ announced John Bonham had died (20 Sep 1980). I still have the papers with the full page ad.
@@plumbum_zeppelin What a "bummer", slang from the 70's. Had to listen to it again while posting, Peace Brother!
Beautifully done. Giving credit to writers
The story behind the song. The history, the pain inflicted.
Moved me to tears tonight
Thanks David, it's history.
damn right
Never new this was a cover thanks for schooling me
My pleasure!
Always liked this song, but wasn't sure why, now I know what I'm singing along about, LoL
Always liked this song, but wasn't sure why, now I know what I'm singing along about, LoL
LZ always maintained a habit of not crediting their sources. They could have helped a number of elderly blues musicians back in the 70s
Who knows why they didn't. Maybe it was the labels, Peter Grant or the lawyers.
Man the timing on the snare bass and top hat.... It's freaking perfect Pants and Boots with a couple extra boots in it. I don't know anyone that can pull that timing off that perfectly without electronics.
For sure and it is sad that other bands bad mouthed him for only being heavy handed.
@@plumbum_zeppelin So what'd he do??? He showed them... Threw away the sticks and started playing the drums with his hands LOL! Always loved that video.
Awesome job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Excellent piece of work.
Thank you, that humbles me.
HUH a song ive heard over an over for as long ad i can remember im 50yrs old never really was a Led head but you sir may have just sparked something never knew the back story awesome pictography thanks for the educating awaiting the next lesson
John Bonham on drums rip Mr. Bonham
They knew Zeppelin without Bozo was not Zeppelin.
Open E tuning+capo to F; for any fellow les paul/Jimmy Page brethren😉
They also slowed it down a half step for that droning sound.
@@plumbum_zeppelin With respect, not so sure about that 1/2 step man. Say, I'm tuned to Black Dog on Led Zep IV, it's from that A tuning I get a straight F key from Page's guitar, for playing along to when the levee breaks. I play black dog & stairway, and everything else in open E. Converted to the Trucks way in 2006 and haven't looked back. What a journey😅
I have read this in several places and heard it discussed by musicians but this is the only place I could find a direct ref in the foot notes on short notice. The pitch may be right on but it was higher before it was slowed down.
"Portions of the song were recorded at a different tempo, then slowed down, explaining the "sludgy" sound, particularly on the harmonica and guitar solos."

@@plumbum_zeppelin I hear ye man. Fair enough point. But with respect, I'm playin a long time (giggin a long time too) and the set up I suggest works for playin along to Led Zep IV, if anyone wants to try it. Wikipedia & several sources might mean well, but they ain't playin it, ain't a guitar and ain't Page on Led Zep IV; my direct source since about 1991.
Its sad too that they never played it live together as a band. I think there is a warm up UA-cam video but I really don't like Page's and Plant's later versions... JPJ's playing for change was not bad
There's an interesting story behind where and how the drums were recorded for this song. It's well worth the search.
Yes see Rick Beato's video

Let’s GO with the Harmonica! And heavy bass! Oh Yeah!
What a way to wrap up an album!
Too many great cuts. Where to place them all!
Between the late 1800's and the early 1970's all the major rivers in the United States were re-routed. Buildings, land , and motorways were built onto where the rivers once ran. Well, the rivers are comng back. And the United States was warned it would happen from Onondaga
Quite high in the conversation for the heaviest song ever recorded.
Yup, I'm surprised.
It doesn’t even come close to being heavier than most of Black Sabbath’s songs
Atho originally written by another great musician, the style in which it's done iz pure LedZep, and is in fact my Favorite LZ recording.
Exactly
Nothing but praise of the highest level in this comment section. And rightly so. It's truly a masterpiece. The history behind it is very eye opening as well with deep, deep roots in early blues.
I am glad my effort has made many people aware and also found enjoyment with the greatest band LZ. Thank you.
As Jack White Said I Dont Trust Anyone Who Doesn't Like Led Zeppelin
Right on!
Yes very good sir those poor people when it happened 😢
Yes it was very sad but people preserved and I would like to think we could do the same in such a situation.
Ahhhh....music to my ears!! ❤😉🫡

Great job. I can’t believe it took only 6hrs.
Thank you. It would have been quicker but I am still learning the video software DaVinci Resolve.
Great edit on point
Thanks!
You did a good job on that.
Thank you for your kind words!
Thanks Tom, glad you like it!
The levee hasn't broken yet
Thanks a lot great picture story

Look like it might have been later in the 40s or 50s. See en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_blues
@@plumbum_zeppelin Hopefully when I visit the states again I will attend The Chicago Blues Festival :)
There's nothing listen to the Mitty LED zeppelin and getting stoned.
Meanwhile, in California Stockton caterpillar tractor was getting geared up to replace all those 40 mule teams, and hundreds of thousands of laborers anyway
So luckily, they moved north, because they would’ve been displaced workers with the coming era of tractors
And that’s how gasoline and gasoline powered tractors changed our entire country, and made us the bread basket for the world
Caterpillar tractors had a lot to do with that right around the same time
In California has earthquakes
But it also had mass areas of desert, which it was able to divert water and put housing and agriculture
Tractors the face of the United States also
Gasoline powered engines for sure, since then
Maybe it was God that made that happen so they get out of there and get up north and get away from those damn Yankees and their confederate flags
Hum... The Yankees were the northerners and the rebels were the southerners.
