Nice review of the plane. I have one of these and I am thinking of upgrading the motor so I can fly on 3S too. I see the specification of the motor you used, but when I search for this I find various motors that have the same specification, but it looks to me that the motor shaft is coming out the "wrong" end of the motor for using in this plane. The stock motor mounts to the front of the fuselage and the shaft obviously then protrudes from the front so that the prop will fit on. However, the motors I have seen look like they would mount with the shaft facing the back of the aircraft, which of course would be useless. I am struggling to see how one would modify the replacement motor to make it work in the plane. Can you help me by explaining what you did, or provide a link to the motor you got? Whilst I have flown plenty of planes, I have never swapped out motors before and all my other planes appear to have "standard" motors that mount in the same way that the replacement ones I have seen would mount. The Phoenix motor seems like an exception. Thanks in advance for any help. Really glad you liked the plane. It was clearly a good Christmas present!
Many thanks 😊 The 3S capable motor is this one (currently out of stock it seems) : hobbyking.com/pt_pt/turnigy-2217-16turn-1050kv-23a-outrunner.html This is a direct fit and this allowed me to use my existing 3S 2200 packs, this motor gets a bit to hot under warm weather, there's not a lot of cooling around the motor with this model. By now I ended up settling with 10x5 carbon prop that works way better then the original, I've also added flaps for slower landings, you xan check these on some videos I have from the Phoenix 😉 cheers from Portugal
Ora boas festas amigo Luis! Que prenda maravilhosa por baixo da arvore de natal! Parece ter um comportamento bastante equilibrado ..O que axas ,mais simples ou mais complexo em comparacao com a ASW? A tua esposa sabe realmente com que que se faz um sorrizo de orelha a orelha em meninos grandes como nos hehehe.. Que giro,a minha tambem me ofereceu um motor glider neste natal, do que nao estava absolutamente ha espera! Mas ainda nao montei o meu ^^.Tambem com o clima por aqui nesta data do campionato nao estou assim com muita pressa lol Mesmo assim espero que a ASW 28 continue em uso,gosto sempre de ver os videos dela,especialmente os videos sem ser "inboard" ;-) Grande abraco,

Este modelo é muito dócil e muuuuuuito mais fácil de voar que o ASW 28, não tem comparação, este podes abusar à vontade e mandar umas piruetas sem stress 😁 é um bom modelo para uns voos "stress free", características excelentes de "stall" recupera imediatamente e sem baixar uma asa. Claro que o ASW 28 é muito mais bonito no ar e com uma presença incrível, como exige mais na pilotagem isto dá um certo gozo e é bem mais rápido, especialmente quando vem em mergulho 😁 1 abraço amigo 👍

Eu recebi um Night Radian 2.0 BNF da E-flite ,especialmente em condicoes de ma vista,por do sol etc. deve ser um espetaculo..Em fim vou ter que esperar ate o tempo por aqui melhorar😇 Ainda tenho que ver e onde arranjo no meu quarto de hobby um lugarzinho para o novo brinquedo no tecto,como tenho presentemente 4 Avioes ja pendurados,isto comeca a ficar complicado😄 Pois e mais ou menos a idei com que fiquei apos de ver o teu video..Po isso achei interessante de preguntar qual e a tua idea em relacao de difficuldade em comparacao com a ASW E e mais "portavel" do que a ASW 28..De qualquer maneira continuo a achar que a ASW e absolutamente unica e bastante especial em termos de pilotagem 😉
