Have you tried a clay extruder to make thinner ropes for the icing cuffs? I had the same problem and I got an extruder and it came with different plates with different sized holes and another benefit is it’s a screw-like top instead of a squeeze so the ropes end up more uniform and I can make consistently thin ropes without breaking them from rolling or having one part be thin and another thick. Just an idea, hope it helps :)

@@POTSy-EDS-Zebra I didn't think foam clay would work in that. Good to know! Thanks!

@@upngrowing I thought about that after I sent it since it may be too tough but the kind of extruder I have has a bar at the top that spins like a screw to push it through the extruder so one like that may be strong enough to push it through since you’re not squeezing it though(I’ll try to find a link to show you the kind I have). I’ve also seen people push clay through a piping tip with their finger which won’t be as long as the rope you’d get with an extruder but it may give you a rope that’s just long enough to wrap around the gingy wrists. You could also use that method to test and see if the clay you use will fit through the extruder holes before buying one (although the one I bought was like $7.00 I believe)

Hi, can bohs be used to cover styrofoam without it cracking ? Or do you know of any tips to do this ? .. I tried with modelite, but that cracked ALOT

@@amilan409 yes I always cover styrofoam. I only use bohs. Be sure your clay is on the thicker side when covering styrofoam because as it shrinks during drying it can snap the rough foam and will leave a crack. You want your clay to dry as you layer it. As it dries and separates that's when you get the cracking look. I know a lot of tutorials are done all at once but in reality that's not how this craft should be done. Example ..if you're making a face...clay out the base color for face and let it dry. Then go back and add your eyes and everything. Fresh clay in fresh clay for big pieces won't dry nice. Hope that helps

@@upngrowing Thank you so much ! I guess I'll be buying some bohs then ! yeah, I was actually using kind of a thin layer too, so that may have been the problem, but it seems that the modelite does shrink quite a bit too. Yeah, I've noticed people who will fill a cup with clay, then spackle-whipped cream all at once and say "mine never crack" and I'm thinking, that's cause they never dry ! To me it's seemed best to let each or most steps dry between. Thanks again !
