So I found out that there is a randomized factor for each day, as there can be spiders, locusts, or a toxic cloud on the 1st day, on the 2nd day there can be a blizzard instead of a heat wave, which is what the coats and blankets were for

I love these references to Script Welder's other games, like Cody and his Zombie dream referencing Don't escape 2, or the Lighthouse painting referencing the Deep Sleep series, or the Cabin painting referencing Don't escape 1. It feels so well when you catch the reference.

Also don't forget the floppy disc which can be found on day 3, it's very important to unlock the true ending for the second run instead of just repeating the same ending.

I want to add that conversations options can be important and new ones are unlocked in the second playthrough (which are also important in getting true ending) You'll know if the true ending is unlocked with a new game if the "New game" text on the main menu flickers. (Hopefully I didn't wrote any spoilers with this)
It seems to me that the four characters so far represent the five stages of grief. David seems like denial and or acceptance because of how nonchalant he is. Cate is obviously anger bc she's a massive tsundere. Cody is bargaining bc he made a deal to join. It's pretty obvious which one Barry is and why.
I'll bet everyone else are the manifestation of acceptance. Maggie, Sarge and his company, and even the raiders. I'm not sure for the scientists left in the SRP building but it's possible considering their corpses are still sitting in their offices while wearing their labcoats.
Hey Mark, was playing this game, get this: I had different threats and found vastly different solutions. You had a bug swarm night 1, I had a poison cloud. Against the heat you went for the cave, I sealed the house! I think the game has a lot more replay-ability than it first looks like. Unfortunately I dread the inevitable "Lone Survivor" achievement.
The creators commented on the first video and said that things are randomly generated. I feel the reason he found those coats is because you could have also gotten some kind of cold instead of the heat wave. :) I'm really interested in this game. Might pick it up.

OMG, I Just realized something, in the other games scriptwelder has made particularly in the deep sleep series, there's a boy named Cody and at the ending of one of the games there was a news report about Cody waking up from a 3-month coma. WTF

Time lines don't look to match up and with how scriptwelder has the mutiverse theory going I'd say it's more reasonable that this Cody isn't the same one. There was a world for that Cody to return to, The world before the sleeper entered seemed to be non moon blown up. His coma started in February and lasted for 3 months, moon blew up on the early march. And because a bus never makes it to the launch site it kinda shows that the world indeed went to heck in only a few weeks meaning the world Cody woke up in wouldn't have had newspaper and couldn't support someone in a coma for a month and a half. (Sorry that this got long I went digging into the lore and just couldn't stop digging.)
This game is a major example of how storie and gameplay alone are enough for an amazing experience!! I really don't get the people who judge games by their graphics and ignore the rest.. For me, it's a style that the devoloper chose, and it shouldn't immediatly make us think the game is bad!!

Both are orphans, kids (9 and 10) and like tigers (tiger plush and the goke about why did the tiger lose at poker). I don't remember being said that DE 4-cody had been in a coma, but the town nearby had a coma-recovery hospital. Nevermind DS and DE are probably directly connected but I've just realized that DE 4 ends with the world transforming to hell so DE 2 can't be after DE 4 edit 1: DE 4 is clearly happening after the DS series because DE 4 has shadow people and "dreams that seem too real" edit 2: they're related since of existence of multiple universes in the game (like the multiverse from dcu) and the other part of my comment is useless

I personally don't think the timelines match up so it's probably just a reference similar to the picture of the cabin the the first part

The similarities of cody (from Deep Sleep) and cody (from DE 4) are to big. Both are orphans, kids (9 and 10) and like tigers (tiger plush and the goke about why did the tiger lose at poker). I don't remember being said that DE 4-cody had been in a coma, but the town nearby had a coma-recovery hospital.
Nevermind DS and DE are probably directly connected but I've just realized that DE 4 ends with the world transforming to hell so DE 2 can't be after DE 4
edit 1: DE 4 is clearly happening after the DS series because DE 4 has shadow people and "dreams that seem too real"
edit 2: they're related since of existence of multiple universes in the game (like the multiverse from dcu) and the other part of my comment is useless

I mean Cody himself is from Deep Sleep as well, the boy who wakes up when you give him his Plushie Tiger. Also Sidreal Plexus has been mentioned in all of Scriptwelders other games to some degree, except for maybe Don't Escape 1, but I'm not sure of that.
