Well, if someone deserves it, it's surely you Dave. For the professionalism, the passion and the commitment (& beautiful videos too). Many happy landings from Portugal 👍
Thanks for the video Dave !!! Seeing the Mustang taxi by and then being able to see the nose from "behind" made me think of the Spitfire and the lack of forward vision whilst taxiing. Is the Mustang any better than the Spit in that regard?
Forward? No, they're about the same. It helps if you raise the seat way up. But the tailwheel-steering and the toe brakes of the Mustang make it much easier to S-turn on skinny modern taxiways.
@@davehadfield5906 Thank you so much for the info. I was not aware the Mustang has tailwheel steering, but it is very apparent that it can maneuver around on the ground really well. To me, the Mustang appears to be a lot more stable on the ground than the Spit, especially when turning during taxiing. I would imagine the wider undercarriage is the primary reason for that.
@@stevewayne1359 No, not really. The Spitfire has excellent manners on the ground. The skinny-undercarriage-thing has been greatly exaggerated in literature. The Mustang is better in a strong crosswind on pavement though.
Hah, yes, that's how I feel too. But Dave grew up in a T-6 and has over 1000 hours in close formation aerobatics as part of the Canadian Harvard Aerobatic team.
What a beautiful flying machine! Congratulations to Mr. Hewitt! Thanks for sharing this video, Dave!
Man, I can't get enough of that sound!
Beautiful D model. The lovely sound of the Merlin. One of the most beautiful WWII fighters.
O dear, my dream, my dream..
Congratualations from Holland, this is somuch fun!!
I keep coming back to rewatch this video. Perfect flight of a beautiful aircraft. Pretty good photography too! LOL

Some more of that will improve his Harvard flying. What a great lead-in trainer for the T-6.

Did he have a large grin on his face coming out of the cockpit?
His face nearly split.
Wow 👌🏼
Skookum job. Is that the replacement for our Hornets?
