Have you had the chance to ride Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in its 19 years of operation? 🤔
Luckily yes. This coaster deservs an emonational video like this
I was there on the last day! Long Live the King! 💚🧡
Yes. 3 times. June 2022.
I rode this thing on July 5th and 6th of last year and I’m so lucky to have ridden it. I was supposed to visit in mid-June of last year, but the Canada wildfires pushed that trip back to the start of July. It’s a good thing that trip was pushed back, otherwise I would’ve been there when Kingda Ka and El Toro were closed at the same time.
🩵💚🧡
This was raw emotion. Rides are more than just steel and wheels. They remind us of times with family and personal growth. Thank you for opening up, I felt your pain and appreciation all at the same time.
Well said. I appreciate the kind words. It was definitely very tough to do.
@@KatiesCoasters I enjoy your channel! Keep em coming! Looking forward to hopefully seeing you back up at Canada’s Wonderland next year!
They’re definitely so much more than steel. I wish I got to ride Ka.
Katie !! Your video intros are just mesmerizing !!
You're too kind!!
Wow, seeing you cry made me feel upset. I know how much this ride means to you and I can't imagine how it must have felt that night. I'm so grateful that I was able to ride this twice and I love how you have such a strong emotional attachment to such an iconic ride. #longlivetheking
It was definitely tough... Always appreciate your support, Caleb. 🩵💚🧡
Great video! Cherish the memories you have of riding it. Cherish all the good times. R.I.P.
The memories will never be forgotten. Thank you, Michael. 🩵💚🧡
@KatiesCoasters You're very welcome! I myself have good memories of riding Vortex and Son of Beast both at Kings Island and am happy I have the memories. Those are the only 2 defunct coasters I have ridden. I've never been to New Jersey before. Kingda Ka looked fun!
Beautiful tribute to Ka. It's heartbreaking; I cried on my last rides too. #LONGLIVETHEKING
Feel ya on that. Thank you. 🩵💚🧡
My first ride was September 8th, 2013, and my last was the same day this video was recorded. I got one ride shortly after noon, and one ride at the end of the night. For my last ride, I got in line about 5 minutes before park closing. When I was next to ride, it broke down. My heart sank, thinking I'd never get another chance, but they actually fixed the problem and reopened it so that everyone in line could ride. By the time the line was clear, it was about half an hour after park closing. In my opinion, this went above and beyond expectations.
I'm really only a casual enthusiast. Some would probably call me GP. I don't have 300+ credits, or travel the world to visit parks. I visit my home parks regularly and follow a bunch of coaster accounts on UA-cam and social media. That's about it. I always thought Kingda Ka was special. It was far more than just an amusement park ride. I hate to see it go, but I fondly remember all that it has accomplished. From opening day to closing day, it was the world's tallest roller coaster. It put Great Adventure on the map as a world class park, and brought millions of people from all over the world through the gates. Nowhere else could anyone experience such a raw display of power and speed, just by getting on a ride. I think what makes this so difficult is that usually when a coaster is removed, it's an old, unpopular ride, that's being taken down to make way for something better. It's a step forward. With Kingda Ka, it feels like a step backwards.
Well said. Amazing story, my friend. It will surely be missed. Nothing will be like it.
Long live the king. 🩵💚🧡
For those wondering why there are still people who think the ride could be re imagined it’s because even in their clarification they left just enough room for speculation to continue. They didn’t explicitly say “ the ride will not be reimagined” and they didn’t explicitly say “ the entire structure of the ride is being removed” either. This allows enough room for people to have different interpretations of what their clarification message could mean. Things like “what do they define as a brand new ride” or “what is their definition of re imagining” etc. I personally think the entire ride is coming down but until demo permits, or demolition actually begins on the ride or until Six Flags unambiguously says the entire ride is being removed people will continue to speculate
I really felt your emotions watching your vlog. I felt a lump in my throat listening to your emotional voice. It's so powerful when a person's voice and heartfelt words for such a loved attraction hit another person's heart. What a beautiful tribute you delivered to your fellow coaster lovers about this amazing ride! Sadly, I wasn't able to ride it however, I loved the original Dragster at Cedar Point before it retired. The launch was by far, my favorite part of that ride! I also rode Top Thrill 2 in May of this year and that was an amazing ride too, especially racing backwards up the spike at 100mph. I do miss the hydraulic launch though. And I will always miss the original Dragster! I am anxious what the future holds for this plot of land where the king once stood! Thank you again for sharing your story and love for Kingda Ka! May God continue to bless you daily!
Don’t mind me it’s commercial motivation, reminding everyone to watch a few commercials. It’s a great way to support this wonderful channel. That’s all God bless.💚
You are way too kind. Appreciate you. God bless! 🫶🏻
Long Live the King 👑. No other coaster like it, and it will truly be missed. Great video!
Couldn't agree more. 🩵💚🧡
Thank you!!
I had just barely made the height requirement for Kingda Ka at the end of its opening season. I remember riding most of the other coasters before getting to Kingda Ka because it was closed for a good chunk of the day. My mom and I had just gotten off my first ride on Medusa when we saw it running and we raced over to get in line. We waited about 2 hours for the front row. I was shocked by the gut punch of the acceleration. I think I was trying to smile on the launch because I was on the one ride I had been looking forward to riding all summer, but the picture showed the face I made was much funnier than that (they actually used to take your picture twice. Once on the launch and once at the end of the camelback). That ride changed me. I liked coasters before that, but after getting off, I was obsessed with them. I always considered riding that as a rite of passage for budding coaster enthusiasts. One thing I liked doing was finding people in the line who had never ridden it before and seeing their reaction when they got off. It's like losing their "Kingda Ka virginity." You're never quite the same afterwards.
Amazing story. Love to hear it! 🩵💚🧡
My only weekend visit to SFGA about month and a half ago was amazing with you and your dad. We rode this many times that weekend. Thanks for sharing this. It breaks my heart to see you cry, but I know how much this ride meant to you. I still can’t believe it’s gone!!!
It was so much more than "just a ride to me." Thankful you could experience it together with us. 🩵💚🧡
Thanks for showing the emotions. It’s got a soft spot in my heart as well.
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed! 🩵💚🧡
I completely get it. For me, it was The Vortex at King's Island. Killed me when they tore it down. I never did get to ride Kingda Ka.
10:47 little you loved it, i sent you a picture of little me after my very first ride on Phantoms Revenge.
I truly feel your pain, while i havent lost a coaster at my home park, but my all time favorite flat ride Bayern Kurve was removed in 2020 without any warning. They came out of nowhere and announced it along with 3 other rides were being removed. One of them was the Kangaroo and due to extreme backlash they brought it back.
My reaction was awfully similar. I was extremely devastated and still am, i really miss it.
Although Steel Curtain might not be long for this world. Although i wont be upset at all if it gets removed. I want them to remove it, its rarely open.
Now i cant imagine losing Phantom’s Revenge, i honestly think Phantom probably outlives us, its one of those eternal pieces of Kennywood,
I remember watching the final public train launch on someone’s livestream a week ago from yesterday and I was listening to the final part of the end credits theme from Super Mario 64 as the last train went over the top hat. It was a heartbreaking moment for sure
Fantastic vlog. Your reaction is truly heartbreaking. It shows what coasters mean to people. Losing them is so hard. Its truly devastating to lose a legend like Ka.
Hopefully its replacement is something truly special cause they have absolutely massive shoes to fill with this one.
Thanks, Bryce. Really appreciate it. Looking forward to a bright future at Great Adventure!
@@KatiesCoasters absolutely. Ive heard the figure 50 million dollar investment thrown out there. So im gonna assume thats the Kingda Ka replacement.
I wish they would pay tribute to Kingda Ka (still the tallest but not the fastest anymore) and the old Great American Scream Machine that used to be where Green Lantern is. Imagine if Kingda Ka, Scream Machine and Storm Runner at Hershey had a baby and that baby was this new ultimate launch coaster with elements of all three. I can dream.
That'd be amazing!
Loved hanging out with the group we had! There is really nothing like Kingda Ka, I am so happy I went to ride it for the first time!
Totally!! Such a fun and bittersweet day. Glad you got to experience it with us! Truly a ride that will forever be missed. 🩵💚🧡
this is such an amazing video. i enjoyed it so much. and for someone who didn't ride kingda ka, this is heartbreaking for me. this was on my bucket list for years i love launched coasters
Glad you enjoyed it! That is so sad. Sorry you didn't have the chance to experience it :(
@@KatiesCoasters thank you so much
Sorry that you lost a coaster that you love. I can’t imagine what I would feel if iron gwazi leaves 😢
Watching the Kingda Ka flashback makes me miss that ride even more😢
😢
Im lucky I’ve got to ride it this summer I’m feeling sad on what will happen it hurts as an enthusiasts I’m wishing the best from California
Long live KA
I'm sad this is already dead as of having 23 total lifetime rides and 11 total front row rides on this thing ever since my first ride in 2021 and now seeing it going it is leaving me so numb and thinking what's gonna happen with the future of this theme park. I feel you so much for being heartbroken over this and I truly understand that this is definitely a big fan favorite for everyone whoever has ridden it and so has myself. This ride will always be a special place in my heart and hopefully something better will come in its plot of land as I'd wanna talk spiritually, god is up there and he will definitely get us something more better for the forseable future. I will never forget the 128 mph launch i've experienced several times in my home state and there'll be nothing like it ever again.
23? Godamn 😂
@@NickWavvy I marathoned the hell out of this ride on July 8, 2022!
It's so sad when a favorite ride closes. I felt the same way when Kings Island closed Vortex. Unfortunately, I never got to ride Kingda Ka as it was closed the one time I went to Great Adventure last year.
I totally agree. Excited for what the future may hold!
Can’t believe that the Jersey Devil Coaster is gonna be the best ride in the park now 😢
That's so crazy dude 😱
we were honestly planning to go next year and do an east coast trip…welp guess not. great video!
The park will not be the same without it, but I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds!
Thanks for watching! :D
It's a bummer to see that beautiful Paint Scheme go down-blue, green, and orange-it reminds me of Florida Gators and Canes Unit.
Will the drop ride go down as well?
On the bright side, the far-superior Nitro by B&M is here for the long term.
Absolutely! 🩵💚🧡
I felt the same way when the original wildcat at Hershey Park got taken down.
And yet I still feel like a reimagined kingda ka built with intamin would’ve been the better choice here. Oh well the Mack super spin shuttle coaster will be a shit replacement
I felt the same way when hypersonic was removed at kings Dominion.
😢
I don't think they will be shown up by Saudi Arabia. What do you think Katie.
Time will tell!
No way😭 so it’s official closed now ?
Unfortunately, yes. 😢
What are your top 5 coasters?
😪
Very sad 😢😢😢😢 to see it go long live the king does anyone know if superman drop of domn will get the ax if so what ride u think 🤔 will replace it
I rode it a total of three times. The first time I went to SFGA with a buddy of mine I saw it and I may have uttered a couple words I shouldn’t have and every time I’d see it I got nervous about riding it. Then it finally happened I got in line got on the launch track heard the arms down head back hold on. Counted to five then I never felt an adrenaline rush in my life like that until I went skydiving. I rode it two more times when I went by myself.
What a story. Amazing to hear! 🩵💚🧡
