I definitely think the problem is the jokers not making it clear they are joking, not all the people not getting the joke for not getting it. Only one of those two had control of clarity, the fault lies in people saying/doing horrendous shit and then later going “I was just joking how could I have known people would take me seriously” when they’re the common denominator, they could have been clear and chose not to and when they’re called out on it they try to pass the blame off on everyone else but themselves. The problem is people don’t take responsibility for their own actions any more, instead of owning up to what *they* said they’d rather have to change nothing and not put any work in so they blame everyone else for not coddling them. Adults used to go “ah I see my actions have consequences” but now we have entitled man-children going “it’s everyone elses fault for taking me at my word, how dare they I’m just a silly lil guy” and not manning the fuck up lest they have to actually fucking do anything about their own behavior.
