Andraya Carter apparently doesn't understand what a Flagrant 1 is. Also, Reese has all of 2 blocked shots all year. The play was a basketball play, but upgraded per the rulebook. Just like when Reese got choke slammed, it was correctly called a Flagrant 2, because it was NOT a basketball play.
Too much follow-through when she didn't get the ball, but she continued to swing all the way to her left side of her body. It was not necessary but her intention to punish Caitlin.

What I love about the wnba is they say that the league has always been like this, and yet can't connect that perhaps this is the reason the league has never been taken seriously. The interviews are unprofessional, the games are unprofessional, the refereeing is terrible, etc etc. So maintaining what used to be seems like a really bad idea.

I have issues with Angel playing the victim. She's been caught on film too many times (yanking on Cordozas hair during LSU/SC game); just recently purposely shoving Aaliyah Edward's (from behind) into the Sky player she was guarding. Refs didn't see the shove and called it on Edward's (her 3rd). Replayed in slow mo, clearly intentional foul to get Edward's on the bench early in the game. Even the announcers pointed it out. Sad to see her resort to dirty/childish behavior when she has so much potential . . . and then cries victim? She's not gonna get by with that crap against other seasoned pro's . . . they'll take her out.

Because of their June 1 antics. Angel Reese and her Dawg are being watched by the refs. Angel Reese calls hack ball "a basketball play". Reese is complaining because she is starting to get fouls for playing hack ball.
The incident of the foul looked fine to me. The flagrant foul was called correctly. And I have no issue with it happening at all. I've played basketball and when you get beat on defense, you have a split second to react. You're defending at that rim, you're bad play will give the other team points. So, you still try to make the play and foul happens. It was just bad defense and you get nailed for it by the ref because you reacted poorly instead of being more under control. What's bad is that weakside help got the block and the opposition got 2 free throws and the possession because of the foul. I've had some bad calls by refs. And if you've played any kind of organized sport, you'll get bad calls. But this is basketball and I don't know if the game has changed, but even in pickup games, when I was growing up anybody that committed that foul where I grew up would have acknowledge that kind of foul. You got beat and you know you were out of control. It wasn't ever a big deal. Give them the ball and let's keep playing. But this isn't what happened in the presser. She should have just acknowledge she got whistled for being out of position. There shouldn't have been any drama about the play. Instead, she threw it back that the ref got it wrong.

When Reese finally jumped, she knew she had no chance at the ball. Hearm was much lower, so she hammered Clark. She did not have to bring her arm down with that much force .. Besides even if it was just hard Basketball, it is a Flagrant foul if you hit your opponent in the face or head. Which she is clearly did. So, if that is the official rule what's the discrepancy.
They play hard and I understand that as long as the ref calls the game pretty decently I have no problem with CC getting hit it happens in all sports that’s why there are refs. The problem with Carters cheap shot was it was a dead ball foul before the ball was in play and it was characterized as an away from the ball foul so no consequences the refs need to do their job and keep these athletes in control before someone gets seriously hurt there are probably others getting this treatment and we just don’t hear about it because people aren’t watching everyone closely

They cannot stand the fact that CC is getting the eyes, and it grinds them, that a team in 7th / 8th place is getting the majority of the nationally televised games, but the numbers can't be ignored, when CC plays the viewership has tripled, from 440k - 1.3m, that is insane, and a big reason why the league is focused on CC and all she does. How can you explain their game v the Mystics, that had over 20k attend, for a team that was 9th at the time, and the other was winless, and last?.
What they are showing is what Reese said to Clark after she hit the pads on the floor. Look carefully and you can definitely read her lips.
Base on Reese’s history and her accepting the villain role, that “Basketball Play” was intentional.
Angel Reese needs to have better body control when going to block a shot. She was not even close to the ball when she hit Caitlyn. It was a clear flagrant 1 and the correct call was made. It is crazy how off her perception of the play was considering what how much basketball she has played. She should have just said that she needs to do a better job of getting to the ball, but instead she makes an excuse saying it was a basketball play. I have been a big a fan of Angel, but it is hard to support her when she can’t take accountability for her play on the court.

wow, WNBA 'physical' style play is giving a lot of these players license to assault anyone they don't like. Maybe the league need to look into that and make some kind of change. Every other sports have made changes for the safety of their players (ex: protecting the vulnerable quarterback).
Over a 135 flagrant fouls was called in the NBA. If you ever played any competitive sports sometimes hard fouls happens

If I had not seen her look directly at Clark's head before she did that then I would have agreed. But out of many clips out, there is one that shows how she looked at the back of Clark's head and then jumped up to " push the ball out of Clark's hands"

No issues with what Andraya said here and I’m one of those college fans who’s watching the W for the first time because of Clark’s dynamic style of play. But even newbies know the top draft picks go to the teams with the worst records, making so-called “mid-offs” inevitable. Honestly that was a pretty great game - lived up to the hype.

The incident of the foul looked fine to me. The flagrant foul was called correctly. And I have no issue with it happening at all. I've played basketball and when you get beat on defense, you have a split second to react. You're defending at that rim, you're bad play will give the other team points. So, you still try to make the play and foul happens. It was just bad defense and you get nailed for it by the ref because you reacted poorly instead of being more under control. What's bad is that weakside help got the block and the opposition got 2 free throws and the possession because of the foul. I've had some bad calls by refs. And if you've played any kind of organized sport, you'll get bad calls. But this is basketball and I don't know if the game has changed, but even in pickup games, when I was growing up anybody that committed that foul where I grew up would have acknowledge that kind of foul. You got beat and you know you were out of control. It wasn't ever a big deal. Give them the ball and let's keep playing. But this isn't what happened in the presser. She should have just acknowledge she got whistled for being out of position. There shouldn't have been any drama about the play. Instead, she threw it back that the ref got it wrong.

Look I listen and look at that tape from many angles. Reese was late to the Ball.Tthe other rebounder and the ball were about 2 feet higher. When Reese finally jumped, she knew she had no chance at the ball. Hearm was much lower, so she hammered Clark. She did not have to bring her arm down with that much force .. Besides even if it was just hard Basketball, it is a Flagrant foul if you hit your opponent in the face or head. Which she is clearly did. So, if that is the official rule what's the discrepancy.
They play hard and I understand that as long as the ref calls the game pretty decently I have no problem with CC getting hit it happens in all sports that’s why there are refs. The problem with Carters cheap shot was it was a dead ball foul before the ball was in play and it was characterized as an away from the ball foul so no consequences the refs need to do their job and keep these athletes in control before someone gets seriously hurt there are probably others getting this treatment and we just don’t hear about it because people aren’t watching everyone closely
I am one of those only here for CC. I don't know Reese, but everytime I do see her she's not a good sport. My goodness all she had to say in that interview is "I messed up", but no, she had to play the victim. I don't believe, myself, it was intentional. Yet, it was still a bad play on her part, and she deserved the call she got. Own it! Stop this victim baloney and move on! It could be fun to watch them both...IF... Reese would show more respect.
