      What politician’s mean by that is, that they are not comfortable with the subject matter , and they want to change the talking point to the one they have prepared , or are more comfortable with.
      I have no particular liking for any politician of any party, so I want interviewers to press them , and to make them stressed and uncomfortable , and reveal what they really think. The question of the alleged bullying by Brecow, has not been resolved, so his accusers deserve that subject not to be brushed over.

    What a horrible interview, umpteenth times invited to talk about the core issues in policy which have aided this defection, but instead let's focus on his personal relationships. Both are inextricable, but these "news" channels are becoming more and more like the states.

There is something charismatic about him that the left hasn’t had since Blair. The only problem is I’ve been wrong before because I fell for Blair hook, line and sinker.

The fact of the matter is, Bercow has refused to become 'Americanised' in his approach to politics, unlike so many people in the British political sphere, and he simply has his head in the policies and debates and not the slander. I can respect Bercow, and I hope he maintains his approach.

    • @Dedition
      @Dedition 3 роки тому +3

      This is such a weird take. The Speaker of the House is supposed to be impartial and stick to the letter of the previously established rulebook made by his predecessors. Bercow went out of his way to twist interpretations to new meanings for the first time in history while he was Speaker so that he could exercise more influence and control.
      He constantly insulted people on the Left side of the chamber (the Conservatives) and would refuse to apologise or apologise sarcastically.
      He was being investigated after it was found out that he had been bullying his coworkers with multiple allegations coming forth.
      He became an internet celebrity IN America and the UK due to how he wielded that influence that made him look in charge.
      The Speaker should be the anchor that holds the ship together. The most critical component that is often not seen. Bercow instead became the anchor and the helm.
      To say that "refused to become 'Americanised' in his approach to politics" is pretty disingenuous.

      There's not many politicians in Westminster that seem remotely normal and respect the House of Commons, I feel like Bercow could easily be a future leader of the Labour Party.
      He seems like he could be a great inbetween for the Labour Party, he understands both sides of the British political world and seems to me someone that wouldn't let his own political views get in the way of democracy
      Just my 2 cents, he's the only English MP that I have "liked" so to say, the Labour Party need everything the can get their hands on just now and Bercow seems like he could bring alot of voters to Labour from the Conservative side, especially the more timid Conservative voters.

He's decent, cares about issues more than drama, he is a known quantity with the public and reflects the change that more and more middle of the road Conservatives are going through at the moment, having done it himself. There are some issues to iron out but it would be a change many could welcome and finally free labour of any albatrosses(corbin's antisemitism, starmer's pulling the wrong punches.
