    Thanks for explanation but I think it would've been better if you provided something like a visual diagram showing pointing out the parts.

    The auxiliary contacts are also handy to create a self-latching system. Wire your NO start switch and NO aux in parallel to A1 (coil) on the contactor. Then wire a NC stop switch to A2 (coil) or through your overload aux then to A2. For a fwd/rev setup with 2 contactors, wire both A2 terminals to your NC stop switch (or through overload aux as before).

      Gosh, ive been in a motor controls class for a couple weeks and im surprised i understood 80% of what you said. Although, i have little clue on how that wouold actually look like in practical terms

    Some sort of animation or diagram is needed, rather than just you talking.

      I agree @delavalmiker . Not everyone learns the same so it's important to try to teach using different methods instead of just audio

    I’m trying to replace a 520F-DOD (NEMA 2 Speed Con/Var Torque Starter) with one that’s not as ancient. What product do you recommend?

    Thank you for a great video.
    I have a challenge on hand I would appreciate your assistance.
    In resetting the the contactor from the overload state, must the machine be connected to mains power while the reset button is pressed and then the ON button pressed?
    I am terrified of making a mistake and destroying the machine.
    Many thanks in advance and once again for the training.

      Doesn’t matter either way. You won’t hurt anything by resetting overloads.

    Where would one find a magnetic starter? Refrigeration equipment or are we talking industrial heavy commercial equipment such as in cooling.

    • @TSPhotoAtlanta
      @TSPhotoAtlanta 3 роки тому

      I've seen magnetic starters on motors as mall as 5HP on a tablesaw, and I came here to find out more. Will keep looking. It was 3PHASE gear, labeled for 220V or 440V. The starter was marked that it presented an arc danger up to 18"...I think I'd like to know more before buying or operating this equipment. More than this video at least.

    Please correct the video, at 0:40 you are talking about the circuit breakers, but you say "the contactor". if it wasn't an educational video, I wouldn't put my comment.

      Objectively you are incorrect. I'm watching it at 720p and it's perfectly in focus and synched, and adequately lit to make good contrast for viewing.
      Subjectively, maybe you didn't like the content level (I came here looking for more technical to show apprentices so it's not for me but it clearly suits others perfectly), or maybe you didn't appreciate the presentation style (I'm not American and often find their style irritating, but this was perfectly calm and balanced and professional), or maybe you didn't like the presenter (should he perhaps grow a beard for you and get a better suntan).
      Subjectively, therefore, I _think_ you are an arsehole, but objectively you cannot make the factual statement of yours and get away with it because it is inaccurate.
