Hey man! Firstly hello from Australia! With your video I was able to take out my power steering pump completely on my own as a person with essentially 0 mechanical experience. I have one question though, my fluid was also extremely bad, and I want to flush the system fully. What should I do from here? 1ROAD on youtube has a good video on flushing. He disconnects the 'low pressure return line' (which is the one we disconnected right, when we drain the system in your video down the bottom?), he then blocks off the reservoir with a plug, and then fills the reservoir, turns the wheels with engine off and pumps through fluid until it is clear. I understand the process, I just dont know which lines are which on the mazda and which to block off. To me the high pressure hose looks like the banjo bolt one, and the low pressure is the one we disconnected, but which side do I plug, the hose side or the metal pipe side, in this case with the cx 7? He plugs the metal pipe side in his vid but it's a different car, and when I poured fluid through like you did to flush that pipe, it comes straight out the reservoir into and out the hose, so wouldn't I need to block the hose not the metal pipe (in the join we disconnected when we drained it) Sorry for the gigantic message. I just want to flush it properly but can't figure out the best way Either way, thanks for your help dude, you alone helped me change my own pump so stoked 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Great job! This is why I make the videos is I hope it helps someone out there. Glad you were able to figure out the lines. This one is a bit different than other pump configurations. Sounds like a lot of people had oil just as bad as mine. Congrats on doing it by yourself. If you could do this repair you can do anything 🤘

Yooo the ratchet tie down trick was clutch. The belt is definitely a two man job but the ratcheting tie down made it possible with just myself.
Agreed two person job. Most difficult belt I have had to deal with so far. Glad the the technique helped you!

@@SteeleOfAllTrades I drew a diagram of the belt/pulley assembly. My p/s fluid was just as black. You saved me probably $200-$300 in mechanic work.
To anyone about to do this, just buy one with a reservoir attached. minimal cost difference to the effort saved.
