It's crazy to think that when infantry is advancing they're basically playing battleships with the enemy artillery, hoping their coordinate doesn't get hit. Brave men.
Even braver when you consider each side has drones AND satellites watching their every move, so the opposite side is not exactly firing blindly.

The attack without artillery support that went so well is a sign of two things (speaking as an old infantryman myself).
1. Ukraine is weak.
2. Russian infantry have improved a lot and this unit at least seem extremely proficient in their craft.
No matter how this war ends, you gonna give both Russians and Ukrainians soldiers a big respect, both sides have their epic moments

I'm honestly curious why Ukrainians did not just retreat from the Krasnohorivka pocket when they safely could and just waited for things to get nasty. Either some people in command are "not really tacticly knowledgable" or Ukrainians willingfully sacrifised some of its troops to buy time which is stupid af since we all know that Ukraine has long standing manpower shortages. I can't comprehend this move on logical grounds.

Because it is Ukrainian territory. It is very hard for Ukrainians to just give it away even when it is more tactically and strategically sound to do so. Every lost ground affects morale and perception of how the war is going.

Unfortunately for Ukraine you can’t say every lost city or town wasn’t “strategically important” nor that Russian gains are because of x coping reason. They need that western support both financially and also the people. If people see Ukraine constantly retreating it looks bad compared to fighting hard and supposedly killing 1:10 ratio against Russians in battle. It’s all a game. I wonder what they will say when a front totally collapses.

@@vanjamenadzer it isn't too hard to find a referenced village, there are some.spelling issues, but, understanding progress requires a knowledge of where the line was say, two months ago... And there are several different fronts. Two months ago avdiivka was at the end of contest but between there and where we are now I don't know any place names.

I think one you and others fail to mention regarding the 100k Russian soldier offensive being set up on Kharkov is this will massively weaken the "entire" line of contact for Ukraine.
Ukraine is out of soldiers, which is why NATO troops might be sent to Liev so Ukraine can move troops to Kharkov.
This constant moving of troops keeps making new openings possible for Russian troops like what we saw in the update today.
Where a simple Russian squad realizes there is a soft spot in the line and can push forward to can more ground.
Everything this happens Ukraine troop moraal suffers, and more Ukrainians will retreat or surrender. This is the end of this war when the 100k troops entire the battlefield.
Plus, we know Russia has been producing far more artillery shells and rockets than they are using per day, so somewhere is a stock pile ready to be deployed.
