Punk-rocker turned suburban mom, Kelly (a fantastic Juliette Lewis), is nostalgic for a life she can no longer have and uncertain of a future she doesn't yet fit in. Seventeen-year-old Cal (Jonny Weston in a breakthrough performance) is frustrated at his lack of control over the hand he's been dealt. When the two strike up an unlikely friendship, it's the perfect spark needed to thrust them both back to life.

Lauren H no it isn’t, I just finished watching it. And I had to comment on how terrible this movie is. But don’t take my word for it, watch for your self.
Spoilers in this post. Just a warning.
Overall, I enjoyed the film. I'd recommend it to all my friends. Just a few things I didn't like. First, how in the world does someone like Cal become a loner? It's unrealistic. The year isn't 1950. We've come a long way. Someone who's attractive, charming, and smart would still be the life of a party despite being in a wheelchair. Secondly, yet another disabled character is forever abandoned by his significant other shortly following a life changing accident?! It's getting old. People do change. I'd like to see Bailey more involved in the film. Perhaps she experiences an epiphany which lead to rekindling a romance with Cal. He deserves a happy ending!

I'm sorry but is anyone really tired of seeing these depressing movies that always try to be inspirational. I don't know maybe it's just me but, all the movies I see now have to do with someone getting out of rehab, barefoot and pregnant, someone dying, having premarital sex, or being a vigilante. Is Hollywood really out ideas? What happened to all of our creative people?

I think it's very important to get the message of Life in Freedom out there, in as many different ways and nuances as possible. Fight the prudence, the dusty conservatism and rigid structures we have in society, encourage alternative thinking and explore yourself. YES to Gender, to Sexuality and to Personality, YES to the Enjoyment and Laughter and Love. Most of all Love

No, Jennifer Lawernce is far far far from being anywhere near as great as Juliette Lewis! Juliette Lewis has this genuine arm performance, whereas Jennifer Lawerence comes of cold and hard for some reason (Loved her in Winters Bone though, but she hasn't matched that performance in anything else).
You are on to something. I wonder what it would be like if they both acted in same movie. JL has the Protagonist and JULIETTE as the ANTAGONIST. I wonder...
