The amount of reference and research you shared on what Akasaka-san gaved us really makes me love Oshi no Ko a lot more, kinda like how people are named after a few things and kinda like how Goku is named after Sun Wukong.
So you didn't know that Son Goku written as 孙悟空 is named after Sun Wukong, also written as 孙悟空???

I am really glad that oshi no ko is getting the attention it deserves. I genuinely enjoyed the manga and the deep meanings of the plot was mind blowing!! I love that the anime did justice to the manga and the artstyle is so pleasing yet dark!

I have to say if ai doesn't come back I am dropping it I know it's good but I need ai back also I spoiled myself of the crow girl and what she said but concidering I have watched hundreds of anime I don't believe her in other anime when they say something is impossible it is usually proven otherwise (basically possible)

Another thing is in the same first episode in the very same scene where Ruby mentions Amaterasu, Aqua also claimed to be the "God of entertainment" which, as explained by Aqua himself too, is Ame-no-Uzume no Mikoto, who has a shrine in Takachiho as well, and, is related to Amaterasu as she was the one who drew her out when she was hiding in the cave.
*(Spoiler warning for people who haven't reached Chapter 77 onwards)*
If we assume Sarina/Ruby to be Amaterasu and Gorou/Aqua to be Ame-no-Uzume no Mikoto, then the Amaterasu stepping out of her cave could be a parallel to Ruby falling into revenge. In a small cave, it drew out Ruby's black stars, and it involved Gorou's corpse, just like Ame-no-Uzume drew Amaterasu out of her cave, Gorou drew the hateful side of Ruby out when she was in a cave, or something like that, idk maybe I'm just clutching at straws, but the God of Entertainment-Ame-no-Uzume-Aqua relationship is very curious.
Holy shit. Thank you for pointing this out, nice way to put it. Didn't consider it that way since I was associating pulling amaterasu out of the cave would be a more positive action. Regardless, since Ame no Uzume was name dropped in a way, definitely mightve been involved too in everything along with parallels

the fact that Ai could've had still-born babies, if gorou and sarina weren't reincarnated, haunts me. what if they weren't reincarnated? Ai would've still died for the same reason (the father), but the biggest difference there would be is that Ai will never truly experience true happiness (as a mother and idol).

Ai wouldnt have died, because she only died because she told the father of her new address in the phone call to convince the father to meet ruby and aqua, otherwise, she wouldnt have died, so if she had stillborns, she probably would have just quit being an idol

And he did jokingly promise to consider her if she turned 16. Which she never did. Again: he's partly a devotee of Ai's because of Sarina. She's an extension of her legacy. He fell off the deep end because without Ai, it's like nothing of Sarina remained. Without her and Ai, life lost its sweetness.
@@ayunurfatima1902 It's said in some prefectures. But it's not a story, although a couple of stories are cited as its origin. It's mostly a folk saying. It's also why on the event of twins being born in the Imperial House of Japan, one is automatically disowned and kicked out of the family never to be known by their sibling ever again.
It is said to be a continuation of their punishment from the Wheel of Karma. The star-crossed lovers wanted to be together in one life but couldn't so they offed themselves in hopes of being reborn into a life where they can be. They're reborn as twins to show that yes, you two will be together now, but not in the way you wanted.
Two stories are cited as the origin: one is a version of the celestial Cowherd and Weaver Girl (Hikoboshi and Orihime) from the Tanabata story. Only this version has a warped ending: apparently their love for each other and constant pining for each other got so bad they failed to do their jobs and violated the command for them to only see each other once a year. The Jade Emperor sentenced them to death and before they got killed they promised to be together still. To stop the lovers from trying to violate their divine punishment, it was decreed that they be reborn as siblings.
The second story is because, once upon a time, a disgraced crown prince named Kinashi-no-Karu lost his right to the throne and threw the court into civil war because he fell in love with his younger full sister, Karu-no-Oiratsume. That was a big no no. This is the legend of Sotoori-hime. And it's basically the Japanese Romeo and Juliet. In the end, their younger brother Prince Anaho (Emperor Anko) prevailed, the sibling-couple lost the war, and were compelled to take their lives. The Imperial House is kinda afraid of the two coming back to the family to cause havoc, so they developed a rule against twins. And they are part of the reason (there are many, not just this) why brother sister pairings, especially those between an older brother and a younger sister, have a more romantic, albeit still tragic and unfortunate, connotation in Japanese imaginations. Hell, the root of the word "imouto"「妹」is "imo". An archaic word for "spouse".

AI was JUST reading the manga right now before I got this notification(see what i did there… please laugh) after getting hooked on the anime! After watching todays episode, I decided I can’t stop myself from reading the manga anymore. I think it may just be my favorite Anime. Anyways, this episode was ridiculously hype, I also didn’t finish the video yet, but I’m watching it while typing this, and I’m more than halfway through. So I can safely say, loved the video!

I love this video and hope that there are more bangers like this in the future. The amount of research and mythology that was explained and that you likely learned yourself is really interesting. I’m a big fan of mythology and want to study more of Japanese mythology.
Also, I don’t think this story is going to have a happy ending where the siblings emerge together. Just not the vibe I’ve gotten. Maybe once the dust settles and one is going to pass they reconcile, but I don’t see that happening before their revenge.

okay so this may be unrelated to the anime, but the story of how amaterasu hid in the cave got me interested.
there is this folktale in my homeland called "krem lamet krem latang".
in this story, the sun and the moon (her brother) were humiliated by animals for doing something silly. out of shame and embarrassment, the sun ran to a cave and hid herself there, bringing darkness to the world. the animals were frightened so they decided amongst themselves who would be the one to get her out of the cave.
one of them was A peacock who tried to seduce the sun out of the cave but she kicked him out.
the rooster was the last one who finally got her out. he crowed thrice and the sun got out.
this story originated in northeast india, specifically in meghalaya. i wonder how is it possible for these two stories from far away lands sound so similar?
The fact that he's on the path of revenge is made even more since in his previous life he was a kind caring doctor and that his mother was showing genuine forgiveness to the person who caused her death as she was dying so if she was forgiving her murderer as she was dying it's pretty safe to say that she would not have wanted her son to head down the dark path of revenge that he is currently traveling!!!

I always found the supernatural of Oshi no ko the most interesting and intriguing moments we got because not a lot is said about the reincarnation put 118 we have conversation of the girl telling acqua and gift he has of being reborn and how everything is coming to circle, I always found it very interesting, great video love it and the research was done was amazingly.

Okay my respect for KitoSenpai just keeps on increasing bc he does as much research on it and shares it with us. It's not that Goro didn't love his previous life, more so he didn't have too much attachment to it. His parents died so he was raised by his grandmother and he decided to get into medical school, specifically gynecology to prevent mothers from dying during childbirth like his mother did.
Also even if the original manga page is drawn by Yokoyari Mengo, some of the panels you uaed was colored by a fan so maybe give some credit next time when you use fan colorings of manga panels

I read it in reddit long ago that the thick book aqua was reading in kindergarden has a main character who is named akane and written with same kanji as ours and she dies close to the end of the story and she not being in the interviews kinda supports this and kana saying something like even a knife can kill a genius which could also mean akane cuz they said she is one time to time. the small references are crzy and I hope the guy just spitting lies with this
