Headless: A Tale of No Heads (Part 1) was recorded at the legendary Sawmills Studios in Cornwall, England. Mixing and additional recordings at Mattison Studio in London (also England).
Music has a funny way of wanting to be played. Sometimes a melodic idea can be so compelling and chaotic that it will remain stuck in the head of its creator until they find the perfect vehicle for it. With a history 25 years in the making, Headless have formed (or reformed) to give life to those ideas that just wouldn’t go away.
As teenagers, best friends David Goo and Aner Rabinovitz got together and wrote a number of madcap songs that bridged the gap between pop, rock, cabaret and psychedelia, before just as quickly parting ways as life took them in different directions. David would go on to form the David Goo Variety Band and the 150 Friends Club while Aner was thousands of miles away focusing on his privacy career, but the music of their teens would always be there at the back of their minds.
Now over two decades later the pair have come back together as Headless to give those tunes a chance to shine, as they release their debut single, ‘Bored’.
A catchy mix of everything from Frank Zappa’s tongue-in-cheek jazz rock to the Presidents of the USA’s fun punk, second wave ska, musical theatre and indie pop, ‘Bored’ sees the band channel the energy and fun of their teenage years, while also imbuing the music with the nuance and sophistication that comes from living life.
The track is the first to be released from their forthcoming debut album, ‘A Tale of No Heads’, which the band will self-release later this year after recording its first part at the legendary Sawmills studios in Cornwall, and second part at Wales’ legendary Rockfield studios.
With more music to come, Headless is that start of a musical journey you’re going to want to be on.
