I am a classically trained violinist and accompanied myself as a singer (also classically trained) on a classical guitar for thirty-five years. I now play both instruments with effects and love the wide ranging textures I can achieve. I really like this instrument, and though I require an acoustic axe for strolling, I'd have a great time gigging with the ENYE. Thanks for showing it off!
I’m really happy this with you was helpful for you. This guitar actually knows a lot more, so I highly recommend you to check out other reviews made by other musicians to get a full picture about it it
Wow, a lot of additional features with that guitar, and although it’s not an acoustic organic sound, it’s a pleasing sound, especially with you playing it.
Thank you for playing "Spanish Romance"! I grew up listening to my dad who was also a classic guitar player like yourself playing that song and could never remember the name of that song. All I had was my memories of him playing it but now, thanks to you, I'm able to listen to it whenever I want. Yesterday was the 27th anniversary of his passing in 1995 at the age of 51 from a heart attack by the way. God bless
I love that you’re experimenting with this guitar. My question is how are your nails holding up? I play finger style on my Martin acoustic and it tears my nails so I have to use picks. Have you had any issues with this? You could also play jazz on this guitar if you want to. Congrats on getting outside of your comfort zone. Ignore the snobs. It’s all about the music. Bravo!
I play Acoustic - Steel- and Nylonstring. Last year I had to record backing tracks for a singer, when 2 of my nails broke right on the day before the recording. I went to a nail salon (nail studio) and the girls where somehow surprised - I am a 57 Year old man with a grey beard and my everyday appearance is the opposite of "stylish". They glued some very thin plastic nail on the edge of thy remaining nail as a support for the extending artificial nail. They did the nail with clear acrylic. That works really well and you can form the nail to your needs. But Acrylic turns a little yellow after some time. Now I use gel, which ist common in Nail Studios
I’d love to have one of these guitars. My wooden guitars are very loud, I have family and pets, so when I practice they are forced to listen to the monotony of repetitions. This would be a nice guitar to use. I have acquired many styles in my 60 years of playing, and this lovely sounding guitar, demonstrated by the hands of Beatrix, a budding master, exhibits a versatility that would work well for me. Thanks, Beatrix, for the heads up!
I feel your problem, I’ve been through that with my family too. What style do you play mostly? If you are more of a nylon string acoustic or classical player, you might want to check out Yamaha silent guitars too first. But if your style is versatile, I totally can recommend this guitar 😉
Good question, after 55 years playing, I play styles based on my mood, or a piece of music that I feel is necessary. I play, swing, country, blues, funk, bluegrass, rock, finger style, but due to the thinnest nails on Earth, I don’t play much classical. I used to play classical, it’s how I started.
throughout these years, i was never very clear about what a "classical guitarist" is.... but when i heard yo say "as a classical guitarist, you suck in chords".... it was a revelation.... i am right away looking up....
This is really awesome! I am a fretless 6 string electric bass player - my bass has a carbon fiber neck and is unbelievably versatile. This looks even more versatile (for practice and smaller areas in particular). I've been looking at buying a classical guitar, but this would also be a good guitar for my purposes. I hope they will have an actual classical guitar string spacing and neck width in the future - on of the reasons I gave up guitar and took up bass as a teenager was my inability to fit my left hand fingers to the guitar's string spacing (I also had difficulty finger picking with my right hand for the same reason)
Fun Fact. As a student Mathias Damann (Luthuer of Baruecco and Russel) explained me the importance of a regular structure of the wood. I asked, why not to use synthetic material. He explained me, that would never happen. Many years later he developed sandwich-clasical guitars with Gernot Wagner using synthetic material.
wooow I like this story a lot! Personally, I think a healthy balance is good. My guitar has synthetetic finish, not the french one. It's more durable, and way less stressful than a french finish, where it wears off even if you just breath on it :D
I'd like to see a nylon string version. I think the idea is nice, and we should explore other resources, especially if they are better, more resilient, westhervproof, etc. I hate the way it looks though. It's rather ugly. I much prefer the shape of a traditional looking guitar over the weird angular box and shape. Journeyman makes a nice carbon fiber nylon that is a much better looking instrument. I haven't tried it, but it looks great, and I like the ability to put it in a plane as a carry on.
I agree, and I think this guitar doesn’t try to replace traditional instruments but wants to offer extra convenience for a specific audience. Which is great 😊
I think this device would have many good uses. There are definitely venues I wouldn’t want to probably bring my nice instrument into and because of the environment this sound would be at least as good for them and more controllable. (Say outdoor wedding for instance). It would be safer to travel with and practice on. Many reasons to have it in addition to your regular classical.
I totally agree with you, although this guitar is clearly not a classical guitar so if you want to play only classical music maybe this is not the best guitar for you. But if someone is looking for a guitar that suits for a wide range of music and variety style, I think this guitar can be a good idea. I also can’t wait to try it outdoors during spring. It’s really cold outside now ha ha
@@beatrixguitar there used to be a practice guitar Called the Soloette that very much could be used for classical and while not so many bells and whistles (and quite expensive) didn’t sound half bad plugged in.
For the serious classical guitarist, this silent guitar's form and sound performance are way beyond. With regard to the fretboard alone, the traditional classical guitar at the nut (width) is 52 mm so the finger placements are in themselves quite different. Too much adaptation required. 2ndly, from the sound of it, it doesn't sound anything like a real or natural classical guitar. The closest so far, in terms of silent guitars that come close to the form and sound of a real classical guitar, is the YAMAHA SLG200NW. Of course my comments here have nothing to do with people who like playing the electric, folk or acoustic guitar and are looking for fun variations that cost less than the LAVA Me3.
(Missed design opportunity to have done the upper "hollow case-rest" to be able to be unlocked and swinged down around the lower part/body, so as an option, also for compacter travelling.)

I really like hearing a proper classical guitarist talk about non-acoustic guitars. Classical guitarists seem to be purely acoustic players. Have you ever had any good experiences playing classical on electric or elec/acou nylon string guitars (i.e, Godin Multiac)?
well personally I believe that there's a good reason why classical music is played on classical instruments. Electric instruments offer a lot but classical instruments are abel to project more subtle details, wider dynamic and colour range. On the other hand, it's unfair to compare a 600$ guitar to a 5K$ luthier made classical guitar I have, so I'll just say they are so different, they offer completely different benefits and they both are remarkable in their category :)
Yamaha makes their own version of a silent guitar the SLG200NW which has the wider neck of a classical guitar. Otherwise you play beautifully and as my Flamenco guitar teacher, Mariano Cordoba, would say whenever he was impressed by a good performance “Tío, La madre quien te parió”
thanks for review and some classical stuff on this guitar, exactly what I was looking for! :) The only one downside of the video - it seems like an ad. Much more interesting part - is the downsides of the guitar or problems or whtats bad in comparison with traditional wood guitars etc. Would be awesome to know about it and not to be surprised.
To answer your question when did we start making guitars with plastic. That would be in 1965 when Ovation opened their doors, some aerospace engineers/musicians who decided to apply their aerospace knowledge to move acoustic 🎸 in to the modern age.
Beatrix it would have been amazing if they built a classical size fret board on those Enja guitars..my main practice guitar is a full size Classical by Ryoji Matsouka..and my plug in guitar for recording is a Yamaha NTX900FM which has a regular guitar neck..I really find it's restrictiveness..could you if possible review Tim Henson's new ibanez or tell us viewers about your instrument(s) you play and what you like about it. Thanks for you great Vids.
Good idea, I'll write it up so I'll record something where I talk about playability and comfort on guitars in the future! Yeah as I said in the video, this is not a classical guitar, feels completely different, but it was very interesting for me :) It's refreshing to try something new from time to time and to challenge myself!
Hi Beatrix!🎶Thanks for showing this guitar, it looks like a very cool idea! I am thinking of trying a percussive fingerstyle guitar course, would it be possible on that guitar too? Thanks!
It has a rather good sound, and it looks a great new improved electronic systems. Still electronic sound has always a longer pick which covers the mistakes that you maybe cannot show in a normal guitar . With a normal fender from the 60s with a very near arm I also cam take this sound ... but the advantage of this one is very light... I guess.... but rather interesting.
Nice review. My one question (steel or nylon) was covered, so I’m good. Love the sound. I definitely would like a more portable version of my classical. Not sure that this it, but it’s in the running.
Good question! If you are a classical player, maybe this is way too different for you. But ENYA GUITAR is working on a similar guitar but specialised for classical guitarist, so you might want to wait just a little bit more 😁
I'm thinking it might be good for blues. Blues guitarists like to play along to jamtracks, which could be sent from an iPhone to the guitar by Bluetooth, if I understand correctly.
Could you please tell me what kind of a guitar this is? Watching you play it makes me want one. I've playing for 50+ years now and never have I seen anything like it.
I’m not sure whether there will be a large demand for this, don’t forget that Yamaha has been making a more or less similar product (but probably much cheaper) for many years now. But it absolutely is an interesting direction innovation takes here.
I bought one last year, unfortunately none in the UK, and I was stung a huge amount by UK customs, after buying one in Australia (also the warranty is invalidated) The instrument is fine, reasonably versatile; the app. isn't, it's only valid for a year, and whilst the Chinese version seems to have all the bangs, and whistles (hard to tell, everything being in chinese) the English version doesn't! Expensive, gimicky, sounds surprisingly good, and, at least theoretically, it's bomb proof, as long as the Russians don't put it to the test 😉 PS a surprisingly good mic!
Whenever something has an integral battery, I'm always concerned about how to replace it, as all rechargeable batteries degrade over time (just like cell phone batteries). Knowing this has such a battery, there's a fair chance battery replacement not straight forward and that it may require a proprietary battery that could be hard or expensive to get. Please keep this in mind if you're interested in a long term instrument.
I as a classical player would have a use case for that guitar and I think it would be outstanding for improvisation. Seems like a perfect guitar for that purpose, you're getting built in quality effects and a digital element without having to buy extra equipment. And then the steel strings might provide additional expression and have more bended sustain (not sure what you call that / something classical guitarists don't really do).
@@beatrixguitar Beatrix, just curious, if a classical guitarist of your status ever plays with others, or are you like me and besides my teacher during lessons I only play solo guitar?
Hello, I really like your work (and my students to) Thanks for it! What is the piece you play on the intro please? Thanks a lot! Wish you a wonderful day! 😀
Thank you!! I’m playing Fossegrim by Maria Linnemann, it’s on my UA-cam channel and my album too! Thanks for the kind words, happy playing and teaching!
Thinking of going acoustic in case the power goes out..... soon that won't be a option unless you buy vintage. Plugging your Classical Guitar into your PC.... Looks nice, but having a wireless transmitter right on my lap for hours.... that "control center" should be a 6 foot cord away. I would be great for recording Nylon Stringed parts and as a piece of functional Art for the living area.
Something to think about before buying something like this. Within 10 years this will be junk. An ordinary run of the mill traditional acoustic classical guitar that sells for the same amount of money, will retain its value and function for hundreds of years, if treated well. If I wanted a silent practice guitar, I would not want one with complex electronics. Instead I would want one with a simple piezo and under bridge microphone that can be repaired, and which might continue to work for 20-50 years and be used by my children.
That's an interesting thought, thanks for bringing it to my attention! On the other hand, I saw my boyfriend buying a PS4 years ago, he played sooooo many hours on it, it made him very happy and gave him a lot of entertaintment and fulfillment. Then he switched to PS5, same happens. And this doesn't mean that the PS4 was not a good console because it doesn't last forever, it just served it's purpose, he played a lot and then when it was time to change, he moved on. Yes, traditionally built instruments can last longer. I've seen 1000K worth guitar falling apart after 5 years not once, but generally speaking, they are durable for sure and won't lose their actuality. But there's always a price you have to pay for technology, new waves. I loved my previous laptop, I used it for 6 years and bought it for the same price as this guitar costs. I moved on. This guitar offers extra features which makes playing really fun, colourful and innovative, and it gives all these in a very comfortable way. For this, you have to accept that it might not last forever, so you have to bring the best out of it while it lasts. I think comfort and long lasting, technlogy and tradition will be something we are gonna balance with forever. But I think it's good to have various options, so everyone can find the guitars they need. This guitar feels like it entered into a market where they can satisfy a lot of people who probably were struggling to find their own option so far. At the end, I totally get where you are coming from. But it's good to have options :)
@@beatrixguitar Well said indeed. I have a big closet full of high tech disappointments, so I tend to bring a lot more cynicism to the table. Us Cynics are just disappointed idealists.
SAME 2 THINGS I ALWAYS ASK WITH THESE GUITAR VIDEOS but SELDOM SEE/HEAR: HOW MUCH ARE THEY and DO THEY MAKE LEFTIES (also in This case, I'd want to know if the APP was ALSO 'LEFTY FRIENDLY'.......VERY IMPORTANT!!!
I think the guitar is kinda cool but, I can make the same exact sound with my electric guitar with effects settings. So did it become pointless to make a electric acoustic with effects that essentially makes it an electric guitar?
I think this is a good alternative for acoustic players who don't want to invest in gadgets. Personally, I always found hard to play outdoors, I know nothing about amplification, but with this guitar I surely will play outside and the sound won't get lost in the air.

Hello from Mar del Plata! I see that in addition to being young and talented, you are curious to investigate. Last week I saw & listened a wonderful-sounding 12-string wooden guitar and it probably looks like another one George Harrison brought back from India to record Sgt. Pepper's Band in 1965. You discuss the current benefits of this model and I would like to remind you what Jeff Lynne said when releasing the Electric Light Orchestra album in 1986 "Balance of power" recorded in Switzerland: every week a new chip comes out on the market and you have to choose one to finish recording... In that moment he chooses the right chip. Can you change chips on this guitar?, because I don't like the way it sounds and it overshadows your interpretation that deserves another guitar something better. I'm talking only about sounds, not fashion or compatibility with computers or tablets or cell phones. Surely your paths will lead you to other models that work as you wish and are attractive for a record. Please listen that 2 examples I detail because are for enjoy very good music with guitars... Best wishes for success in this 2023!
Not sure about the tone, depth and sustain. Seemed a little twangy compared to really good classical guitar. But interesting nevertheless. Good review.
yeah, but on the other hand, it doesn't try to be a classical guitar. ALso, for 600 usd you don't buy a classical guitar with a good sustain and depth in my opinion :/
Must be very expensive. I didn't here what this guitar costs. It sounded good. I would have loved to hear "for under $500.00, or for under $1000.00" something about the cost would make a huge impression on me too. I like traditional classical guitars made with fine woods by a craftsman luthier, but I would consider this instrument if the price was reasonable. Money is hard to come by these days.
One thing that bothers me with this marvel is that it probably won't be one of those legendary instruments passed down for generations with reverance. Other than that very cool stuff.

Thank you Bill! Yeah I know about the Yamaha silent guitar, though I never tried it. Hopefully one day :D
I think you make it sound really good. It makes you sound really good too.
thanks MR!! Happy you like it!
It's good when you want to listen carefully with the family and noises details
thanks for review and some classical stuff on this guitar, exactly what I was looking for! :)
The only one downside of the video - it seems like an ad. Much more interesting part - is the downsides of the guitar or problems or whtats bad in comparison with traditional wood guitars etc. Would be awesome to know about it and not to be surprised.
You’re so amazing great playing and absolutely beautiful
Thank you!
@@beatrixguitar you’re welcome
Thanks!
Yes sure it’s doable as long as you are looking for a guitar where you can hit the strings not the body, this guitar is good for you.
@@beatrixguitar thank you!🤗
It has a rather good sound, and it looks a great new improved electronic systems. Still electronic sound has always a longer pick which covers the mistakes that you maybe cannot show in a normal guitar . With a normal fender from the 60s with a very near arm I also cam take this sound ... but the advantage of this one is very light... I guess.... but rather interesting.
hairstyle is looking good
Thanks :DD I really appreciate this comment to be honest :DD
Nice review. My one question (steel or nylon) was covered, so I’m good. Love the sound.
I definitely would like a more portable version of my classical. Not sure that this it, but it’s in the running.
Good question! If you are a classical player, maybe this is way too different for you. But ENYA GUITAR is working on a similar guitar but specialised for classical guitarist, so you might want to wait just a little bit more 😁
@@beatrixguitar Good info! Thanks
Nylon or fluorocarbon Savarez strings? Think about it.
Lovely playing and excellent review!
Not sure if you've seen, but they came out with a Classical Guitar with Nylon strings recently! Would love to see a review from you!
I’ve been thinking about it, stay tuned!
Awesome!
I'm thinking it might be good for blues. Blues guitarists like to play along to jamtracks, which could be sent from an iPhone to the guitar by Bluetooth, if I understand correctly.
I love that guitar, 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Спасибо спасибо спасибо😘💕

Could you please tell me what kind of a guitar this is?
Watching you play it makes
me want one. I've playing for 50+ years now and never have I seen anything like it.
Awesome 😎... thanks.... I say it definitely has a place in the world....
Great vid, cool guitar, beautiful playing by a beautiful lady, what's not to love?
I’m not sure whether there will be a large demand for this, don’t forget that Yamaha has been making a more or less similar product (but probably much cheaper) for many years now. But it absolutely is an interesting direction innovation takes here.
I bought one last year, unfortunately none in the UK, and I was stung a huge amount by UK customs, after buying one in Australia (also the warranty is invalidated)
The instrument is fine, reasonably versatile; the app. isn't, it's only valid for a year, and whilst the Chinese version seems to have all the bangs, and whistles (hard to tell, everything being in chinese) the English version doesn't!
Expensive, gimicky, sounds surprisingly good, and, at least theoretically, it's bomb proof, as long as the Russians don't put it to the test 😉
PS a surprisingly good mic!
That’s a great point I didn’t think of, thanks for sharing it!
Great video.
Loads of information.
Have liked an subscribed..
Thank-you for your video posting
cool guitar not gonna lie
I agree, and it was so fun to experiment with it!
I think the same, and also it's really good to drag me out of my comfort zone, I think it's a really healthy addition to me.
@@beatrixguitar Beatrix, just curious, if a classical guitarist of your status ever plays with others, or are you like me and besides my teacher during lessons I only play solo guitar?
Класс! красивое звучание...

Hello, I really like your work (and my students to)
Thanks for it!
Very different guitar. Good honest review, thanks. How are you getting on using it for finger style?
That's a cool guitar!!!
This is pretty cool. Do they have a bass version as well?
I have no idea but I think they do not :(
Beautiful
Need them to put the top on the top. That's where I do my thumps and rest my hand when I'm doing two hand legato.
Could you record how "silent" it is compared to your normal guitar, when played without amplifier/speaker? Thanks!
Good idea, maybe I’m going to do a comparison video in the future
It have a very metallic bright sound. I hope it can be controlled? 🤔🤷♂️
Are you playing silent one ? How do you put the sound on UA-cam, does it have aux out put ?
Hello, where can I find that guitar? and do you know the price?
hi, you can find some links in the description under the video
they came out with the classical one already you shoud try it
Oh really? Do you have a link to it?
Looks like I'm going to have forego getting my car fixed. This guitar is worth it.
Hahahah sooorryyy
@@beatrixguitar No, don't be sorry. I'll just ride my bike to work, in the middle of a snowy, cold winter.
@@leesdroidaccountharbin9665 now that's the attitude! 😆
Have you heard of Lava Music? They also build guitars out of carbon fiber
SAME 2 THINGS I ALWAYS ASK WITH THESE GUITAR VIDEOS but SELDOM SEE/HEAR: HOW MUCH ARE THEY and DO THEY MAKE LEFTIES (also in This case, I'd want to know if the APP was ALSO 'LEFTY FRIENDLY'.......VERY IMPORTANT!!!
but.... where do i thump my thumb (flamenco style ) ?
Are you worries what those steel string will do with your precious classical fingertips? Will it work if you restring it with nylon strings?
I think the guitar is kinda cool but, I can make the same exact sound with my electric guitar with effects settings. So did it become pointless to make a electric acoustic with effects that essentially makes it an electric guitar?
I think this is a good alternative for acoustic players who don't want to invest in gadgets. Personally, I always found hard to play outdoors, I know nothing about amplification, but with this guitar I surely will play outside and the sound won't get lost in the air.
Does it have aux out put to connect to external speakers or amp, or mixer ?
How do you put the strings on this guitar??? Can you tell me please?
Can this be used with a DAW such as Ableton Live or SoundTrap?
Did you replace the steel strings with classical strings????
Budapesten hol lehet ilyen hangszert beszerezni?
fogalmam sincs, szerintem sehol, de neten tudsz rendelni, szerintem a némez amazon szállítja hozzánk is:

You might like a telecaster
Not sure about the tone, depth and sustain. Seemed a little twangy compared to really good classical guitar. But interesting nevertheless. Good review.
yeah, but on the other hand, it doesn't try to be a classical guitar. ALso, for 600 usd you don't buy a classical guitar with a good sustain and depth in my opinion :/
Very Nice....
Yamaha makes a version of this with nylon strings. Yamaha SLG200N
But not this versatile. It has wider neck than this guitar.
What is the name of the piece at the start?
4:25 is « Jeux interdits »
Save a tree I say.
Made in left handed, I wonder? 🤔
Oh I have no idea, check out their website, you find some links in the description
Does this have nylon strings ?
The battle of ducks and horses? My bet is on the hundred duck-sized horses. Surely the horse-sized duck can't take out all of them?
Must be very expensive. I didn't here what this guitar costs. It sounded good. I would have loved to hear "for under $500.00, or for under $1000.00" something about the cost would make a huge impression on me too. I like traditional classical guitars made with fine woods by a craftsman luthier, but I would consider this instrument if the price was reasonable. Money is hard to come by these days.
They can now be had for $360.00 USD if you don’t mind skipping out of the upgraded case, included ear monitors, and proprietary microphone.
One thing that bothers me with this marvel is that it probably won't be one of those legendary instruments passed down for generations with reverance. Other than that very cool stuff.
