You must give this man some respect, He had did so much in Football.
That was jus for the finals as Portugal did scored goals in 2016 euros but it was definitely a situation where France was 2004 Portugal and Portugal was Greece of 2004 and YKW it happened in France jus like in 2004 when it happened in Portugal but Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo definitely deserved it..
With CR7 spending the rest of the match coaching from the sidelines alongside Santos. He could not even walk at that stage. He was injured. He did not care. His love for the game is what makes him the GOAT.
My dear, in football, as in life, there is always a winner and a loser, however this does not mean that a loss is not the auspice of a future victory. I believe that yes, those tears welled up the beginning of the best in the world, without a doubt Messi also made an excellent path and consolidated it with mastery, regarding this decision of choosing the best: CR7 vs Messi, it is only of interest to fanatics with no knowledge football player, because those educated in football are those who enjoy the game on the field and not off it... this video is about the best football player ever in my opinion, but I respect those who put them on the same level, and myself I've had periods when I chose Messi, for some years now I've been convinced that the best and most complete is Ronaldo, better athletically, better mentally, incomparable aerial game, or perhaps only comparable to Falcao...
I was 15 years old. I remember the tournament as if it took place yesterday. We were not playing with flair and creativity but you could see the iron will and tenacity in every challenge, every contested second ball. They were playing like pirates, with knives on their teeth. The pre-game analyses. The tactical rigidity and the mixed man/zone marking. The press triggers. Zidane had his worst game in his football career against Greece. So did Henry. Czech Republic mauled us and if not for the injury of Nedved they would probably have gone through to the final. We were lucky then. In the final Portugal appeared very anxious. They had to prove something in front of their fans. They knew Greece could hurt them on the counter and from set pieces, with beasts like Delas and Charisteas, and a free kick specialist known in Sevilla as the 'maestro', V Tsiartas. We could not believe it that we won against Portugal twice. But this is football. Believe me when I say, all of Greece was rooting for Portugal in the 2016 Euros. As per your conclusive statement, I want to add that Greek tragedies end in tears but also with the intervention of a Deus Ex Machina, sometimes firing a torpedo from 35 meters. With his weaker foot. In extra time. While being challenged by 2 Centre Backs. Love your content. Keep it up pal.
I wish I was older back then so I could see the final for myself. The celebrations after Greece as an underdog won the Euro... It was amazing! I am still proud of that generation. Best underdog story in football.
Its definitely one of them, I think 1992 Denmark deserves to be the conversation with 2004 Greece. 1992 Denmark didn't even qualify and only got a selection because Yugoslavia had split and were removed from the tournament.
thank you very much my friend to give your respect in greece. thnk you very much!!! you are a great person!!! with all the respect the greek tragedies dont end with cryes but with palinorthosis. the person learn from his mistakes and come back stronger and wiser!!! like portuguese team!!!
I remember I was at fourth grade when Cristiano was already a rising star and the highlight of Euro 2004. Oh the memories... I loved the "Roteiro" (the official matchball of the tournament). As kids we all had it as some kind of fake replica. I remember everyone talking about Cristiano. And as I was growing up my hatred towards him grew up exponentially, because he kept rising and he kept making people talk about him. I hated him with passion, because he was a diver, he was doing "gay useless tricks" and he was arrogant af. But man...After Euro 2016 something changed in me. After I saw him leaving the final in tears after Payet destroyed his leg and watching him help from the sidelines alongside Fernando Santos I realized this is an "Uno reverse card" of 2004. Portugal did what Greece did to them and Cristiano never stopped giving and trying to help his team. His burning passion for the game never seized to amaze me. I am 30 now and I am one of his biggest fans, because I want to have his mentality. His winner mentality, his never giving up mentality. When I feel bad and I feel like I can't push through something I watch some goals of Cristiano, I "Siuuuuu" with him, because his energy is inspiring and intoxicating. I've never seen an athlete or a player with so much confidence with so much power and resilience, such hard working ethic. He is almost 40 guys. And he doesn't stop. He trains, he scores, he entertains. It will be a sad day once he hangs up his boots, so let's enjoy him, because there won't be a player like him in the near future. Maybe Mbappe is close to young Cristiano, but no one else. For me he is trully the GOAT.
yep and I hate all the Messi fans saying Messi is better just because he had more goals but Ronaldo had the devistating knee injury which changed the past 8 years of his career. Ronaldo is better than Messi no debate
This was the worst day of my life, i remember exactly, after the final i cried like a baby with my 14 years of age and i told my father that now we are never going to finally win a title without figo and the rest of the golden generation gone… my father calmed me down, saying there is no reason to cry about that, we have this young guy cristiano and he will do even better then luis figo. well…i have to say that he didn‘t disappointed me in this regard. but it’s crazy, as if my father foresaw that cris one day will finally lift the trophy for portugal.
I was 16 and it still hurts...And to make things even worse, Sporting CP lost the 2005 UEFA Cup final at home. Trust me when I say that I have a PhD in football tragedy...
Amazing video! It really showed respect at the end to give the compliment to the greek team. I think karma struck, and portugal got at the end their euros at france, beating the hosts ☺️ Great channel, continue as you are!
This is why he's the greatest of all time. Unlike others, he didn't get anything the easy way. He had to fight for all. The greatest player of all time. Only player that can talk to him is Pele.
i love ronaldo and portugal, porto especially. what a great city. im so glad you guys won it in the end, you fully deserved as much. a greek subscriber
His mentality is what makes him a top athlete. He doesnt need to be better than messi to be a role model. in hater's eyes his confidence is just arrogance, but its also that winning mentality that allows him to make comebacks single handedly in games. the one against wolfsburg, the one against athletico madrid, the one against spain. He has done enough to prove to me he is the best player of all time. if he is arrogant, he wouldnt have improved himself when he loses. People these days only care about the product of the game, the stats, the trophies; they think these players are all just fifa cards and have no emotion, which is why many fail to see athlete's mentality, hardwork, dedication, and other things like family issues to deal with. For me, ronaldo is more inspiring because he grew up a messed up and poor family but his willingness to become the best coupled with his discipline was what allowed him to achieve so many incredible feats. Other football players wont get that because not everyone give in their 100% on the field whereas ronaldo takes each game seriously.
My father and I watched that final matchup when I was nine years old. We were so happy to watch Greece win something for once, let alone score a goal or even make it out of the group stages. But after watching this video, it made me respect Ronaldo even more. From the moment I saw him crying after my country won the trophy, little did I know he would rise to stardom and become one of the best players to play the game.
Ronaldo at Sporting was frustrating sometimes because he would take on the whole team and make it with the ball to the end but he would either make a horrible cross or a not so good shot, but he did improve his shot pretty quickly and, by the time Sporting faced United, he already had it on point. By the half time, Gary Neville was already talking about ronaldo to Sir Alex Fergunson, telling him how good he was and how much difficulty he was having marking him. By the end of the match Neville urged Sir Alex to sign Ronaldo as soon as possible, they needed him and so it happened. I've also heard a story that Ronaldo was set to sign for Man United even before that match and that match was only for United to see what kind of player they were buying... He was going to sign for United but remain at Sporting as a loan deal for 1 season for him to improve and go to Manchester ready to play but... He played so good that they didn't want to loan him anymore, they wanted him right then and there.
daily odse brother , your normal voice is more appealing too hear while explaing the moments and small details and info, but i love your page , this brings people back like me born in 1984 ! :)
Having lived through Portugal 🇵🇹 Euro 2004, just so much to say about it. The game against Spain 🇪🇦 was one of the best that Portugal had ever played. Excellent sexy football. I remember José Mourinho was the guest commentator on the Portuguese channel, and he talked tactics so much that he basically ruined the play by play. The TV guys were too referential to interrupt Mourinho when something exciting was happening and shut him up. The scenes of people flying the flags and saluting the players on horseback and on boats and in the skies was truly epic. It was quite the moment in Portuguese history that typically doesn't get nearly the amount of attention it deserves. The day of the final was very strange. I was on a plane from the Azores to Lisboa and sitting behind me were Xutos e Pontapes, Portugal's biggest rock band. Everyone was in a good mood, acting like the trophy was already won. Landed in Lisbon and rushed home, just in time to catch Nelly Furtado singing Força in the pre-match. But instead of feeling excited and happy, I was struck by a sense of foreboding and melancholy. It was as if the ghosts of fado had besieged the walls of Lisbon and were pillaging the city. When the game started, all you could hear were the Greek 🇬🇷 fans. They completely overpowered the Portuguese fans in their own stadium. Another omen. And when it was all over, the city was silent. You could hear the fado wailing through the empty streets. Went to the Colombo mall next door to Estadio da Luz and it was full of Greek fans who were singing and chanting nasty stuff about Figo. They were really sticking it to Portugal fans. This was Portugal's Greek tragedy. We all knew Euro 2004 was ours to win, our first big boy trophy and we let the Greeks steal it from under us on our soil. But the Gods of Football love irony and in 2016, history would repeat itself. Portugal became the new Greece. In an epic case of if you can't beat em, copy paste, Portugal playing ugly football went to France 🇨🇵 and beat France 1-0 in the final, just like Euro 2004. The fado had conquered Paris. The Portuguese Greek tragedy was now France's Portuguese fado. Turns out Football is a fan of fado.
I'm a Portuguese descendant from Canada and I must say very descriptive story about your day in Lisbon the day of the final. I had a bad a strange feeling that day as well but I chose to ignore it because I was trying to think logically that Portugal was the better team, thinking lightning wouldn't strike twice. After the game I was crying in the streets thinking Portugal wouldn't get another chance.
Greece played much much much more attractive and attacking football than that Portugal squad. Compare the stats, its shocking. Greece also never knocked out a team through penalties and the only penalty goal it had was against Russia in the group stages where Greece had its only defeat in the tournament
I can tell you as a Greek that no other Greek on earth has forgotten how Ronaldo was crying when we beat Portugal in the Euro final in 2004. Everyone here who watched that game and saw his later carrier will still have the cryong image of him popping first in his mind.
He cried because with the defeat he wasn't going to win the Ballon D'or, I've seen that psycho screaming of happiness and celebrating a team's defeat only because he score 3 goals. He's an egomaniac.
i respect and adore ronaldo because like others he has faced many problems and difficulties, but unlike others, he has overcome them and reached the top.
you should do a video on Paolo Guerrero, arguably the greatest Peruvian player of all time or at least Cienciano’s historic 2003 sudamericana and recopa sudamericana underdog story.
Definitely. People blame him for the Goal in the Euro final and criticise Portugal for not taking Victor Baia. Reality is, he'd every right to attack that ball at the corner. Plus, there is no way that the keeper would have took his gloves and scored the winning penalty, if they have Brought Baia. Ricardo wasn't the best keeper ever but he was very solid and had a fruitful career.
He had excellent reflexes but crosses were a big problem. Sporting lost a league title because of it and Greece's goal in the final is his fault as well
@@riccardodiluca6862 he had every right to claim that ball though. The biggest crime of that game, wasn't Ricardo at all. Portugal couldn't even score one bloody goal with all those superstars
Your epilogue (if not the whole narrative) was majestic! I love how you emphasized the tragic element e.g., scoring a goal in the group stages that would enable Greece, the nemesis advance. My only complaint is that you didn't mention anything about some questionable decisions during the match with the Netherlands. Oh well it adds to the magic of it all I guess.

This man went through alot, like *alot.* and after all of this his confidence is still in another world like no other.People don't understand what Ronaldo went through.Nowadays if people experience Ronaldo's harshful struggles, They would probably just cry out loud, stay in bed for the whole day and act like a cry out loud in the internet,But nonetheless Ronaldo still work hard after all of this. All of this also applied to Messi.
You must give this man some respect, He had did so much in Football.
I got goosebumps watching this vid. Thank you for your amazing content
And then, Portugal was the Greece of France. With Ronaldo off right at the start of the match.
There's some poetic justice right there.

Hearing how hard this man works on himself to better his craft makes my love for him to grow more stronger than it already is.
I forgot how Euro 2004 was that crazy. Thanks for reminding us.
thank you very much my friend to give your respect in greece. thnk you very much!!! you are a great person!!! with all the respect the greek tragedies dont end with cryes but with palinorthosis. the person learn from his mistakes and come back stronger and wiser!!! like portuguese team!!!
Amazing narration! Great video. Thanks for sharing.

And Ricardo suffered a very similar goal vs benfica in 05 which also made us lose the title on the penultimate game...

Amazing video! It really showed respect at the end to give the compliment to the greek team.
I think karma struck, and portugal got at the end their euros at france, beating the hosts ☺️
Great channel, continue as you are!
This is why he's the greatest of all time. Unlike others, he didn't get anything the easy way. He had to fight for all. The greatest player of all time. Only player that can talk to him is Pele.
Well spoken
The GOAT debate is about embodiment and since Pele no one has embodied football at the highest level than Cr7
Not even R9?
i love ronaldo and portugal, porto especially.
what a great city.
im so glad you guys won it in the end, you fully deserved as much.

Portugal is my favorite country of all Europe..astonishing beauty , amazing People ...from A hellenic fan who was there
back when ronaldo was a dribbling winger breaking opponents ankles and staff people only talk about his hardwork but not his talent
Scolari has had an undeniable stroke of unluckiness. First this, then the 7-1
Love your channel 😩
That was a great summary
so sad to hear about this from ronaldo...
Bro took it personally and became the greatest of all time 🐐🇵🇹⚽️
My father and I watched that final matchup when I was nine years old. We were so happy to watch Greece win something for once, let alone score a goal or even make it out of the group stages. But after watching this video, it made me respect Ronaldo even more. From the moment I saw him crying after my country won the trophy, little did I know he would rise to stardom and become one of the best players to play the game.
Absolutely crazy to think this guy was just a kid back then. And now he is the most prolific player. How time has passed😢
Ronaldo is the best nr1 player all the time God bless him 🙏 always ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Another great video. Good job brother 😁
So sad that our portuguese team isn't a family anymore instead they let the ego speak and don't care about Ronaldo...😔
He will forever be remembered as one of the greatest in history
Here in Greece we remember that win every day along with Ronaldos cries
Love your videos bro
Brought me to tears! Amazing Video!
That goalkeeper was a fucking badass
I am Greek, I've never heard this story from a Portuguese perspective. Interesting
Love and respect to him always
i love this page awesome contents
daily odse brother , your normal voice is more appealing too hear while explaing the moments and small details and info, but i love your page , this brings people back like me born in 1984 ! :)

in my eyes ronaldo is still the goat, its sad not to see him lift the cup but hes still the goat lifting the cup or not
10:41 imagine if he missed..
6 to 6.10 is the saddest part. Now they have players like Bruno, Jota who don't want to pass him. These selfish bas**** cost Portugal World Cup
Thank you my friend for this comment, it gave me chills down my spine. Portugal sempre!
@@steliosmitr8245Portugal were the biggest performers at the tournament so that's a lie

Amazing job, making the viedo as poetic as the story. Great script
It's so sad seeing Ronaldo being mistreated by his Portuguese teammates now after doing so much with the national team.
Im from greece and a huuuge CR7 fan im ashamed I hadn’t seen this video
i still cry when i remember 2004. I still can't stand greece because of it. I should get over it, but I think I never will

Been hating on Ronaldo fans since I was a kid because of the rivalry with Messi. This video made appreciate his career in a new way 🙌. Good job!
It's crazy how Portugal lost a final from a ugly goal just to win their Euro by a very very lucky Chace by Eder
I can tell you as a Greek that no other Greek on earth has forgotten how Ronaldo was crying when we beat Portugal in the Euro final in 2004.
Everyone here who watched that game and saw his later carrier will still have the cryong image of him popping first in his mind.

Really, after almost 20 years?! It was more memorable than who won that cup I can see 🤣
@@pedromendesousa I mean it's Cristiano of course it's going to be memorable.
He cried because with the defeat he wasn't going to win the Ballon D'or, I've seen that psycho screaming of happiness and celebrating a team's defeat only because he score 3 goals. He's an egomaniac.
Its definitely one of the most memorable moments in Euro history whether your Portuguese, Greek or any other nationality.
France lost the Euro Finals at home as well in 2016
Ronaldo❤
Wow dude, great vid, your best so far!
i respect and adore ronaldo because like others he has faced many problems and difficulties, but unlike others, he has overcome them and reached the top.
I love that reference you made "they sink the heroes of the sea".
Could you do a video about ronaldo's knee injury in 2014 and how it affected his play style afterwards.
Don't think Ronaldo had any knee or major injury in 2014.
@@FirstNigerianprince the knee injury is the reason why ronaldo completely redefined his playing style

love your videos
please do a video about lingard🙏
Ricardo was so underrated
