And yet, despite this immense tragedy, despite the great losses in lives, the studio was able to rebuild and continue working on peak anime like nothing happened. Absolute gigachads. Part of it is because fans did their part to support them financially at the time, sure, but you don't get tons of money from people by creating mediocre anime, you know?
Thank you for reacting to it! I find the history of the studios and to see what studios made which of our favorite shows so intriguing. Part 2 please! Li Cree is American freelance animator who worked for mappa during jjk who did several interviews so it’s fine to interview them! 24:20 it also helps having a lot of talent in house that’s sticking around. Another big issue is a lot of time shows even from the same studio don’t have the same animators return for the next season because they’re just brought in for a few scenes on that particular season 32:00 Studios for sure have their trademark character designs but it can also vary if they get freelance character designers or the in studio ones changing over time. It also comes down to the manga art style of the source material the studio adapts which some studios try to be faithful to and others take more creative liberties or have to change them to be able to make the characters move better in action scenes

CLANNAD isn't even sad most of the time, it's just unbelievably beautiful to the point where your tears would just overflow and you can't stop it. After Story is, in my opinion, still peak anime writing, presentation, and animation. I wish I could erase my memory just to watch it again, truly one of a kind and beautiful experience it was. I still rewatch the scenes frequently after 10 years. I do have to admit, finishing it made me feel empty for years.
15:24 i think Vincent Chansard (worked with Pierrot, TOEI, Bones, Wit, Mappa and probably more) doesn't mind being interviewed, of course if he's available and not busy
4:44 It is Totoro from My Neighbour Totoro. It is a beautiful movie and one of my top Ghibli movies. I’m from Finland, and me and my sister used to watch My Neighbour Totoro almost every time we visited our grandparents as a kid, so the movie has a huge nostalgia factor for me. Still when leaving out the nostalgia, the movie is nothing short of amazing.
8:04 keep in mind a lot of "new studios" are formed by veterans who left their studio to form their own 9:56 I dont even watch any gundam, but even I listen to their OP and ED, they are fyre

Also the staff that went to work at the studio were alredy big names in he industry like Aot's director Tetsuro Araki (Death Note, Higschool Of the Dead, Guilty Crown)
7:55 No. It’s not the same thing. The video even shows it. Too much to explain in a comment, but shorthand, it was found by Production I.G, and included staff that came from Production I.G. They had the backing and talent from the get go.
As monogatari fan myself i can confirm it's really hard to recommend it to someone cuz I understand it's not for everyone and not easy understandable so even if i want more people to watch it I also actually don't lol
and it's not hard to recommend because of the fanservice. The most difficult part is that someone who hasn't already watched a ton of anime including harem trash just won't enjoy it in the same way as someone who gets all the references and how it parodies many of the tropes.
it's definitely not something Luke can watch rn, maybe a few more years, I really want him to enjoy it and he definitely won't understand a bit of it now
@@soasertsus the hachikuji stuff imo is fine because it's quite obviously comedic. The joke is how it just keeps getting more outrageous and it's never actually very fanservicey. Unlike certain other scenes lol (nise 4)
@@sakidickerson btw if Luke really want to reacts to gundam series, i think he can started by G Gundam and grouped several series in one video to avoid too long, and at last coming back to those before G gundam because those are too old, music-wise, visual-wise and fansbase-wise
@TheWilsonwu1000 I think he would appreciate seeing the old stuff too because it's kind of like looking at an evolution of anime styles through the years he's done some videos like that before where he looks at older popular anime openings to today
@sakidickerson I think he did, but views would be lower if the video only catch up to midway of the list or even earlier, would discouraged him to react to the rest, just like his Yu-Gi-Oh and digimon reaction, that's why I suggest he start from the 1/3 of the list instead of reacting from yhe very beginning
It would be much easier to reach out to freelance western animators instead given how common they are now in the anime industry. Would make the interview easier as well for you. Back in the day my favorites were probably: Gainax, Studio4C, Ghibli Nowadays: Trigger, Bones, and since watching Eizouken, Starwars Visions, and DanDaDan: Science Saru That's just off the top of my head, but I'd really have to think about it critically to say for sure what my fave studios really are with confidence. There's so many shows and films to consider over the years.
You may already know this, but the music video for Shelter, a collaboration between Porter Robinson and Madeon, was created by A-1 Pictures. It’s an amazing music video. The song is fantastic, and I still listen to it even now.
You should check out Day in the Life of a Anime Director and Mangaka (separate video) from Paolo from Tokyo. Very interesting look behind the curtain for sure.
Man, land of the lustrous is such an underrated gem (pun intended) I'm still upset we haven't got a season 2 because the manga is finished and gets really wild
Ask all the other reaction channels that reacted to all Gundam openings. If they can do it, you can do it. Also watch Gunbuster and listen to the songs from it. Gainax's Otaku no Video has a very good opening and ending theme.
As someone who got into anime via the music, idol anime seems like something that would be worth you checking out. The reason you probably haven't heard of it though, is because I find that generally, streamer audiences tend to primarily be interested in the shounen stuff like One Piece or Naruto. I don't think any of the streamers I've seen who watch or react to Love Live did so because of community votes, but because of their own preferences. Still, it's possible something like Zombieland Saga might get voted in, though I doubt enough of your viewers would vote in something like AKB0048, Wake Up Girls! or Idolmaster. (I did post a link to a playlist for Gundam Seed openings as well as my reasoning for starting with that in a previous video of yours.)
Ghibli is kind of like the Disney of anime. So much so that a lot of people don't really think about it as anime. That's probably why it's not often recommended.
Speaking of animator, Kay Yu immediately came to mind. Not only he worked on Studio Bind (Mushoku Tensei, Onimai), he's also worked on hololive and famously made HoloCure, the best fangame out there, so it's perfect for you, best of both worlds. He's done interview before too, so I think he could be a good intervewee.
It's sad that KyoAni anime usually aren't super popular; you'd have an even better understanding/recognition of KyoAni quality if you saw Dragon Maid, Hyouka, Sound Euphonium, etc. The only KyoAni anime you've seen are Violet Evergarden and Silent Voice, as far as I know. Imo KyoAni is the goat studio
Kyoto Animation, Ufotable and Madhouse are the Big 3 of studios. Although Madhouse work environment is a controversial topic it used to be borderline slavery
Watching and liking both Gundam and Love Live since they came out, I'm surprised that a mecha studio pull out high schoolers idols group singing in an amazing way❤
Brother Luke, I still think you need to convert one of your time slots into a dedicated “older anime” content slot. I know you say you’ll watch whatever we vote for, but everyone just wants you to watch the most recent stuff that they’ve seen. If you dedicate a slot to “90’s anime only”, that will force us to finally get you exposed to some older bangers like Neon Genesis Evangelion. You have to provide at least a little guidance as the leader of the channel, otherwise it will just keep going like this and you’ll never see some of the key moments that helped shape anime history. NGE, Initial D, Tenchi Muyo, Cowboy Bebop, any studio Ghibli movie…these all are experiences that an intermediate anime fane deserve (since you aren’t a beginner anymore).
That'd be pretty risky, since if there isn't a strong push for older anime in his community, how likely is it there's a strong desire for older anime reactions outside of his community? Maybe it's a huge untapped market, but more likely it won't bring in a lot of new people, and if his own community isn't too interested in it, it might really underperform. I think having an 'older anime only' poll to fill the slot one time might be a good test (similar to how on twitch he had a romance only tournament a while back) but to dive straight into a dedicated slot would be crazy. Remember this isn't a hobby but his job and how he supports his family, so if he's going to spend hours a week on a single series, it should be one that grows the channel.
I think the podcast 'Trash Taste' has had some animators as guests and would be,at least, a good start for looking to interview animators as they live and function in Japan (they've also had Mori as a guest in the past)
So glad you're learning more about the anime industry~ As for "what you've got" in terms of your health - there's been an abnormal increase in walking pneumonia (from the bacteria mycoplasma pneumonae) here in the U.S., I'm sure it's spread to other countries too. Make sure not to spread the germs (spread via air droplets from breath)! Do your best to treat symptoms, sadly there's no vaccine for it atm
Nowadays most of anime studio just hire indie freelance animators like mentioned in 16:47. 15:05 theres a bunch of indie english speaking freelance animator on twitter that animate for multiple studios if thats what you want, but if you want an actual permanent animator for a studio i feel like that'll be harder
The brilliance of CLANNAD is that it not only moves you, but also makes you laugh. It is a very engaging animation. If I had the ability to make a wish come true. my wish is for everyone to watch CLANNAD once. So please CLANNAD!!!!!!!!!!!
If you want to interview an animator, perhaps reach out to Kay Yu. He's a seasoned freelance animator who's worked on a great number of higher profile shows. I think you might have a good chance at interviewing him.

2. Ufotable -> God Eater (The story is meh.. but the animation is 👌)
3. Doga Kobo -> Plastic Memories (Acually there is a lot of recomendation from this studio, but this one is always my fav)
Back in the day my favorites were probably: Gainax, Studio4C, Ghibli
Nowadays: Trigger, Bones, and since watching Eizouken, Starwars Visions, and DanDaDan: Science Saru
That's just off the top of my head, but I'd really have to think about it critically to say for sure what my fave studios really are with confidence. There's so many shows and films to consider over the years.
Part 2 please !!!
Studio Orange, who animated Trigun Stampede, also made Beastars.
And their best work: Land of the Lustrous
Government: Tax evasion is s crime Ufotable !!
Ufotable: It's an obligation !
12:18 Kill La Kill is definitely worth watching... Just not for UA-cam reaction purposes 😅
You may already know this, but the music video for Shelter, a collaboration between Porter Robinson and Madeon, was created by A-1 Pictures.
It’s an amazing music video. The song is fantastic, and I still listen to it even now.
kyoani is my favorite anime studio and always will be, I used to dream to work there someday (maybe until now)
Eromanga-sensei is very underappreciated. The animation is fantastic and the story it tells is fine.
You should check out Day in the Life of a Anime Director and Mangaka (separate video) from Paolo from Tokyo. Very interesting look behind the curtain for sure.
Nice reaction 🙂👍
take a shot everytime he says something along the lines of "this is the best animated anime I've ever seen" lol
Luke, the soundtrack used that you liked is from deathnote, it's the main theme
Nice.
Oh 😮
4:49 that “chubby rabbit” is from My Neighbor Totoro and I guarantee that you would love that movie. And it’s a very popular movie
yeah my neighbor Totoro is classic... kinda surprising dude hasnt seen it yet
Love Live was my first ever anime and I still watch new episodes to this day. It will always be one of my favorites
12:39 I see that the Kill la Kill reaction will be coming soon.
22:16 I cannot overstate how great Monogatari is.
Fun to see some of my favorites in there
Yep, i'll be here for part 2
I was hoping J.C. Staff would be mentioned. It's my favorite studio.
Please react to part 2. I really want to see it. Hope you feel better soon.
Man, land of the lustrous is such an underrated gem (pun intended)
I'm still upset we haven't got a season 2 because the manga is finished and gets really wild
Luke:He’s incredible (Hayao Miyazaki)
People who don’t know: 🙂
People who know:😭😡
Ask all the other reaction channels that reacted to all Gundam openings. If they can do it, you can do it. Also watch Gunbuster and listen to the songs from it. Gainax's Otaku no Video has a very good opening and ending theme.
Even Hideaki Ano leave Gainax with his Evangelion IP after knowing how mess up the management is
Love Live & Monogatari mentioned 🔥
If you’re looking for recommendations, i *gotta* recommend “Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken”, it’s fantastic
Its so interesting to learn about! and Pay and care for your animatiors!
Oh 👀👀
Clannad and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, would love to see you react to those two anime~
22:20 bro, dont do this to me, im gonna have to subscribe to your patreon just to see the monogatari reactions 😭
😂
he has more anime studio explained videos that i'd love to see you react to
It's sad that KyoAni anime usually aren't super popular; you'd have an even better understanding/recognition of KyoAni quality if you saw Dragon Maid, Hyouka, Sound Euphonium, etc.
The only KyoAni anime you've seen are Violet Evergarden and Silent Voice, as far as I know.
Imo KyoAni is the goat studio
I'll always be recommending Sound! Euphonium, I really do hope he'll get to watch it one day
Kyoto Animation, Ufotable and Madhouse are the Big 3 of studios. Although Madhouse work environment is a controversial topic it used to be borderline slavery
Studio ghibli is absolutely a 💎
If you ever watch Clannad, remember to hug your kids and wife after every episode, that's the only thing I can recommend you to do
12:40 Yep, your brother loves the plot too guess)
Nicholas Light said i needed to come and give you love, so here i am, keep keeping on
Ouran Highschool Host Club is really good tho, one of the best Shoujo ever
Another interesting and fun explanatory video is "The Importance of Fanservice" from the Kap Cha channel.
Oh you have to watch Grave of the fireflies. Absolute mustwatch.
Watching and liking both Gundam and Love Live since they came out, I'm surprised that a mecha studio pull out high schoolers idols group singing in an amazing way❤
Kill la Kill is an absolute riot, defiitely recommend it.
24:33 that ages so damn well
Brother Luke, I still think you need to convert one of your time slots into a dedicated “older anime” content slot.
Why just 90's anime? Why not 70-90's?
I think the podcast 'Trash Taste' has had some animators as guests and would be,at least, a good start for looking to interview animators as they live and function in Japan (they've also had Mori as a guest in the past)
The problem is that investors want to make money, they don't want to give it to their employees
So glad you're learning more about the anime industry~
As for "what you've got" in terms of your health - there's been an abnormal increase in walking pneumonia (from the bacteria mycoplasma pneumonae) here in the U.S., I'm sure it's spread to other countries too. Make sure not to spread the germs (spread via air droplets from breath)! Do your best to treat symptoms, sadly there's no vaccine for it atm
"Is that Berserk?" I recommend you to read the berserk manga. Most wholesome thing in the universe😇
Yes. Jun Maeda is GOATed. Recently i played their gacha game Heaven Burns Red. The gameplay is whatever but the story is as expected. Heart wrenching
If you want to interview an animator, perhaps reach out to Kay Yu. He's a seasoned freelance animator who's worked on a great number of higher profile shows. I think you might have a good chance at interviewing him.
You heard him. Someone finds him a good Gundam op playlist to react to😂
