- Sage 17 is a modern design has been created by Mr. Jerry Montgomery. A lapstrake hull provides rigidity, tracking, wave deflection, and is a style trademark of Jerry's designs. Sage 17 is designed to be safe and seaworthy. A fractional 7/8 sailing rig provides performance and versatility. An overall light boat weight makes for easy trailering. Sage 17 is sophisticated enough for experienced sailors that might be downsizing and simple enough for a beginner.
hank hill
Nice boat but why is Hank Hill selling it? I can't be the only one expecting a propane sale any second.... :)
Expanding from propane & propane accessories.
hahaha...hank hill must be running behind, lol.
Came to the comments for this exact question.
More cabin and less cockpit than our 1981 Capital Yachts N-17 (Neptune 17). Our hull is smooth so we do not get the lovely chortling sound of a lapstrake hull. Other than that the two are very similar. Also very much like a Capri 17.
Hank Hill on Heroin man I can't take this seriously lol
Comes with riding lawnmower
A "pocket" Schooner would be awesome, but likely a bit big for a trailer.
Everybody beat me to the hank hill jokes! Bahahaha
He sells sailboats and sailboat accessories
Hmm, i wonder if it could be turned into a cutter...
I should get one and sail around the world
That looks brutal.🤣 Just kidding. I love it.
Клинкерная обшивка это бомба . На воде, даже без волн, всегда " шуршит"
Looks a lot like a Compac 16.
At twice its cost
Hank Hill sells a boat
Very nice boat but listening to the commentary voice ,fm do all Americans sound like that
Not bad over all but PocketShip still beats it in every way.
Agreed, PocketShip really is something special. Unfortunately the economics just don't play in favor. Still though, that's where it all began and ultimately led me to my 1984 Wellcraft Starwind 19 needing lots of TLC. It was love at first sight.
boom bang not boom vang
Looks to small to lay down any were
The port lights are unattractive.
Dear Lord, that narrator is AWFUL!
“Sailboats and sailboat accessories”
All I heard was "I sell sailboats and sail boat accessories."
lmao
yep. i tell you what. dang good boat.
Anybody know how much these usually cost?
Beautifully shaped hull and superstructure. Personally, I prefer a traditional rig and tan sails, but this boat is a beauty. Adventures waiting to happen. :)
I just dont understand all these bermuda sloop rig coastal cruisers. a balanced lug rig is just so much better for coastal cruising; its simpler, easier to handle, no standing rigging, very good for beginners and not any slower than a bermuda sloop. but I guess some people just like all the ropes. other than that though, the sage looks like a beautiful cofortable pocket cruiser.
That mast looks really questionable!!
Dropping the anchor outside of the pulpit 4:49? That's novel. :)
Noticed! I guess it wouldn't be in keeping with the flavour of this vid to see a guy pullng the anchor back up again, while all the time swearing, and calling himself a dumb... ...person
@@hackledrummer1543 The anchor rode was properly lead under the pulpit but there was a camera housing attached to it so I had to lower the first 10 or so feet of rode over the bow pulpit to orient the camera.
Very impressed my last boat was 18ft Valient in Scotland.
Dang it bobby!!..
Beautiful in memory best time of the sailing and the boots Neptun Greif Made in GDR,, 1980,,🌄🍀⛵✌️
OMG, It's got a vang!!! Seriously, are these guys sailors????
The only real 17ft pocket cruiser is the Leisure 17.
I feel like hank hill is selling me a boat an I am sold
Hard to compete with a Siren 17 at 1/10th the price.
All shot in the Port Townsend boatyard!
Hank is that you?
Had to mute just to watch, voice is terrible! Can you talk without whistling through your teeth? See your Orthodontist for details.
Does it have cushions so my girlfriend doesn’t get black & blue marks on her back, ass and knees? Her mom’s starting to get really uptight!
Love the lap strake design.....
Hank Hill, is that you?
Well that has to be the weirdest voiceover ever! Was he on valium when this was recorded? 😂🤣
No, propane.
Wait, what?? 14" tyres and trailing arm axles are selling me a boat???? I'm under a minute into your video and you're talking about the trailer, not the boat???
PRICE $22,000 (with trailer) OMG, all for you.
Good pr I ce tage
watching this in hank hills voice made this 1000% better
Vcs poderiam disponibilizar o projeto?
Might want to rethink how you deploy an anchor. Good looking little boat though.
The anchor rode was properly lead under the pulpit but there was a camera housing attached to it so I had to lower the first 10 or so feet of rode over the bow pulpit to orient the camera.
It needs a small kitchen and a bathroom.
Thats a lovely boat 👍
Looks lika a Swedish Strortriss. But you can get a Strortriss for 1000$ used
What a beautifull boat! What is its weight?
The website doesn't even exist anymore. 😕 It seems like that's all I find these days.

Sage 17 is rated a protected coastal inland water boat. The S17 are sailing both east and west US coasts, US and Canada Great Lakes and coasts of Malaysia.
Yes but You need 30 years of experience to counter all that could go wrong. Imagine 10 meter / 30 foot waves at night and You have to sleep. Getting out of Your wet sailing gear isn't easy inside a small cabin. Your provisions will make the boat heavy and unstable, the rigging isn't built for ocean sailing, the sails will take a lot of abuse from the heavy winds. Where will You put the inflatable rescue dingie and 500 liters / 100 gallons of water. You don't drive offroad in a Rolls Royse. Things are built with a purpose. This thing is perfect for inshore cruising and light enough to trailer behind a car. If the weather is nice it's the best place to be. I wear a lifejacket and a PLB at all times when sailing solo (inshore) in my 24 foot sailboat. Best of luck mate!
@@FrekeOne To whom it may concern.
FrekeOne is telling you the absolute truth! Heed his warnings.
Hell Noooo...
Only if you lose your way
Whats the base price
sagemarine.us/pricing.html
just a guess, $35,000 base.
As of 8 December '16 the Sage 17 base price (includes, sails & trailer) is $27,000.
@@sagemarinevideo ha..
I'd like to sail this to HI. from CA.
This dudes voice sold me
Can you take off the sails and just use it as a fishing boat with out the long sails on it ? Or are they permanently attached to the boat ?
