The game has always been bound by rules, and strategies evolve from it. Defensive style or not, the rules force the players to have some way of ending the point, instead of merely returning shots on the table. This is a magnificent example showing a different side of both players, forcing them to be creative and rely on techniques they otherwise won't use. Athletes have to adapt. This is no different than playing a leftie, or a penholder, or a long-pimpled player. Gotta change your strategy to win.
Also, for those who've ever competed in tournaments, the schedule delays are terrible in the best of times. Imagine being stuck warming up for your game for 4 hours because two people won't stop pushing back and forth since the morning...
Should really only exist between two defenders.. Feels like China played extremely passive in the first game to activate it in order ot get an edge over Honoka... Extremely lame.

It is annoying. Most shots never reach the 13 count cycle anyway. Players having that audio constantly must be nerve racking. Hell, let the crowd get into the counting. That'll probably be less distracting than that one monotone voice.
@@PianistsRavel I think its pretty weird that it continues on after every game, if it were for just that one match, then i wouldnt mind. maybe this rule happened because some players thought it would be cool to just not score for some reason. its an interesting rule ive never heard of until now.

New game should be back to normal... maybe with a shorter time limit. But to punish the audience and players for the entire match because of one long game... who thought this would be a good idea?
they should really get rid of the expedite system, it really just makes a joke of the game, regardless of how long the game would have been. It's unfair to the disadvantage of one party, just for the sake of saving time. And for the viewer it's super irritating as well. That's not a good way to promote the sport. In comparison tennis is proud of its sometimes extremely lengthy games.
i agree. they implement the expedite system because they don't want a 6-hour tabletennis game where the spectators all fall asleep. however, a 6-hour tennis match is EPIC and HEROIC. the audience is still on their feet in applause 6 hours in. this is why there's 1000x more money in tennis than tabletennis.

Expedite rule should not interfere with the strategy of either players. For example, make each player cover one eye, or make them play with smaller rackets, or larger table, etc.

The points were not boring at all, they always wanted longer rallies and then, when you finally get it you end with this anoying counting. Had to watch with sound off. WTT if you really want to expedite this type of game, just limit the score up to 6 points per game with no deuce. That way both players still are able to fully use their style without any annoyance in the background.

In 1936, a match between two defensive minded players featured a single point that lasted 2 hrs and 12 minutes. That was the opening point too. I do think 10 minutes per game can be harsh that said trying to play choppers.

This rule only activates in the event that less than 18 points are scored within 10 min in a game, which is very rare

Ten minutes including time between points. I imagine it would be too cumbersome to only count the play time.

桥本帆乃香的正手，基本没什么攻击力，但是她的反手快拨，却极具攻击力。所以，回她的反手球，绝对不能过高，否则很容易被她抓住机会。
