- How and where to find inspiration for your designs
I received a lot of comments and emails regarding my new series of videos. I saw that you are interested in the creativity part of a fashion collection and also in the inspiration coming from plants and flowers of all kind.When starting the research, try to find plants that are exotic or uncommon, let's say.
Try to skip the tulipes, roses or plants that are quite symmetric or boring or not rich in details. Don't get me wrong, any plant can be beautiful, but when wanting to get inspired, we need more than that.See now what kind of plants inspired me in this floral collection.
And now let's get to the creative part. Use simple lines, sketch with transparent layers. I usually start with the pencil but if you feel more comfortable with another tool, go for it. I try to capture as much details as possible. The mistake everybody does is the fact that just looking once at your source of inspiration and then thinking to create something, won't work.
You need to constantly observe the details and sketch them and adapt them to your costume. Try to understand how they were made, how th plant evolved and how those beautiful shapes were generated.Then use 2-3 layers of colors that you will mix to create the volume or the dark and shadow parts of your outfit.
When you are satisfied, just come over and press harder to obtain black lines that will re-shape the costume.
Think of that: when you will later on see the drawings, you should immediately know what was the primary source of inspiration and what you intened with your drawing. The drawing should be as accurate as possible so that later on you will be able to give it to somebody who will actually produce the costume to be worn.
For the second sketch, I was inspired by the volumes of the plant you see near my drawing. I kept almost the same colors as the originals and also I added the details that remind the source of inspiration. Now it back and enjoy my drawings!

Omg. It makes me so happy to see that someone else draws clothing like I do 😅 I look through all sorts of videos on UA-cam, and everyone seems to design very practical pieces, though nothing too eccentric, which is bit of problem, as I love overly wild things- which is why see your designs in this video made me so happy- because I could relate on an artistic level, if that’s makes any sense 🤷♂️

I'm the total opposite! I never look at references, unless its for the accessories part, cause I''m too scared to get too involved in the reference and kinda come out with a copy of it, so I mostly just draw whatever comes to my head🙄. I actually wish I was more cautious, but its a fun process

Awesome inspiration ideas but when you done sketching, do you know how to create every pieces of pattern that can fit together? ( If so, can you make a video about this, I’m really need em’ ) I’m stuck at this point, I can sketch a cool ideas but cannot think the way it fit together 😭.

I am currently drawig my own collection but I feel like its odd so I have these questions I hope you can answer them or anyone.
1. In a collection does it need a color coding?
2. In each clothing do they need to have something in common with the rest of the clothing?
3. What makes a collection...a collection?
Hopefully someone answers this because im making a collection about Suriname and the first three I made are very diffrent since I based it on the nature around Suriname and I need advice and help because to me it doesnt look like a collection it looks more of three seprate outfits
