Miralay Ahmet Bey Mosque is an important religious structure located in the district of Tarsus, named after Miralay Ahmet Bey, the patron who commissioned its construction. Regarded as one of the historical treasures of Tarsus, this mosque stands as a testament to Miralay Ahmet Bey's contributions throughout his lifetime. Miralay Ahmet Bey, the son of Emin Pasha, the chief physician of Sultan Murad V, played a significant role in the construction of various notable edifices.
Among the structures commissioned by Miralay Ahmet Bey are the Old Bazaar Mosque, a medrese with 20 rooms, and the Alaybey Mosque in Bozcaada. Following the untimely passing of his first wife, Növber Hanım, Miralay Ahmet Bey entered into a second marriage with Nazire Hanım, the daughter of Major Şevket Bey, from which he had a daughter named Şükufe Nihal and a son named Raif.
Miralay Ahmet Bey's tomb, located in the Tarsus Museum, serves as a significant historical artifact shedding light on his life and legacy. The mosque, as a part of Miralay Ahmet Bey's personal and societal heritage, has endured to the present day, holding a prominent place within the cultural fabric of Tarsus.
