"Don't drink your calories" is a good starting point. But, I'll add- artificial sweeteners are likely just as bad for our health and our microbiota's health, so don't be fooled by "diet" anything. The sweeteners I use or recommend (in approx order) are stevia, plain monk fruit extract, or honey/maple syrup/molasses.
Pro tip.. If you have grand parents take tips from your grand parents and plan your diet plan.. Because your grand patents are live example of helthy living
