Put your big squid in the freezer overnight, as the ice forms in the flesh it expands tenderising it without having to beat the $hi+ out it😊

I soak my squid in Bicarbonate of soda and milk makes them nice and tender About 1 heaped tsp to a cup of milk soak for about an hour or more
