The problem is he was private messaging an underage person which then led to him getting him something he wanted and eventually sex. Its nothing to do with him being gay, nothing to do with him having an affair, nothing to do with the age when the sexual acts happened. Its about private messaging a child and the eventual outcome which sounds like grooming. He may think it was all innocent and it may be but no adult should ever private message a child unless they are a close relative. Its also nothing to do with anyone saying hes a bully at work. Groomers arent bullys. I honestly think he just doesnt understand what hes done wrong.

There's some missing context around this situation that yourselves and people watching in different countries might not be aware of.
In February 2020, Phillip 'came out' by a written statement on his Instagram and then by appearing as a guest on the show he hosts to speak about his situation. The British public and his wife supported him 100%. Industry indsiders said Phillip's sexaulity was 'tv's worst kept secret', and celebs such as Joan Collins spoke about how Phillip's sexuality was known and accepted in the industry, but the timing of his coming out seemed odd. Speculation around toxicity and an affair with the show runner followed. It was revealed that colleagues had raised complaints around Phillip's behaviour.
Then, in May 2023 Phillip's brother appeared in court accused of child sex offences. He was found guilty and jailed for 12 years. Phillip was absent from his morning talk show while his brother was in court. The public felt he was hiding. At the same time, more rumours around Philip's alleged toxic and inappropriate behaviour swirled, all coming back to the runner Phillip was first introduced to at a theatre school he was a Patron of when the runner was just 10.
Phillip came back to host the show for a week, and the tension between him and his cohost, Holly, was unbearable, with Holly practically grimacing in pain and having to joke and laugh with Phillip. It was announced over the following weekend that Phillip wouldn't be returning to the show. Then followed Phillip's tell all interview admitting to an affair with said runner!
After Jimmy Savile's horrendous crimes and manipulation, we, the British public, are terrified of child abuse rings being covered up and an abuse of power within the entertainment industry.
When a trusted 'wholesome' TV presenter is accused of grooming a child for a secret relationship (even if that is when they have reached legal age of consent) along with his paedophile brother being friends with the owner of the drama school, (photographic proof of PS, brother & owner together) we wonder how deep it actually goes and fear that it is true that birds of a feather flock together...

    • @rachroselli
      @rachroselli Рік тому +5

@yasminec.3212 Yes, his sexuality is not an issue at all. Everyone sort of knew before he came out. Affairs happen... lots of actors, singers presenters have them and its not the end their career. This is different because it's suspected the TV executives knew he had a relationship with the runner, and helped get him a job, possibly for 'favours'in return, and covered it up even though colleagues complained.
The BBC covered up Savile and we're worried ITV has done the same. Although, as it stands no crimes have been committed!

This ‘little boy lost’ performance is embarrassing. The power differential between Schofield and the younger man is enormous - age, celebrity-status, access to employment opportunities and so on.
Imagine you’re middle-aged, and a male family friend, who was around your children when they were growing up, tells you he’s shagging your 20-year-old son. Would you find that acceptable…? Would you be thinking back to when your son was 15-years-old, and whether he was ear-marking your son for the future…? There’s definitely a whiff of the ‘predatory’ about it.
What is most disgusting about the likes of Schofield is the way they present themselves as ‘holier than thou’ and ‘clean-living’, looking down their noses at others who are struggling with life, but they’re behaving like animals behind the scenes. The issue for me isn’t his ‘homosexuality’, it’s the SLEAZE.

Mark was spot on - the majority of the UK view Schofield and ITV as another Jimmy Saville and BBC. The issue is the clear grooming of a young, vulnerable person alongside the fact that he was a married man having a secret affair. Sorry 3rd comment on this but I’m near the end now, can I just say, I’m from the UK btw, this intense spotlight right now on Schofield is NOT because is a. Celebrity (I used to like the guy) or b. Because he is gay, the UK is so inclusive on sexuality and gender preferences nowadays, we’re not all wearing bowler hats with umbrellas waiting in queues and drinking tea with a cup and saucer. This man, bending facts and truth to his own end, procured a minor over a number of years behind the scenes and used his position of power and promise of future to do so. This is grooming, whether the other party was male or female does not change that fact.
Can I also add, the fact that he doesn’t believe he has done anything wrong besides some little romantic kiss and other softening stuff added to his experience in acting, rehearsing and putting forth a persona for the public shows his skills in the art of deception has even had 3 of you 4 on the ropes in this video.

Schofield doesn't get it at all. When asked what he did wrong, he "takes full responsibility" for "kissing someone in the workplace" - yet completely denies there was a power differential, and tries to explain he treated everyone "equally." The way you treat people does not negate a power differential. The truth is, there was a power differential, whether he consciously realized it or not (that's how hierarchies work), which can influence the less powerful to do acts they don't feel they have a choice in, based on fear. With power, comes great responsibility, like it or not. So, he isn't taking "full responsibility" whatsoever.

It sounds to me like Phillip is in complete control of him and in my opinion making sure the other man is on his side to keep Phillip safe??? Phillip is a professional presenter and knows exactly how to come across, what to say and how to cover his own back. Also, he is using his mental state to protect himself. As a mum of a gay man I have a different perspective. Unfortunately, here in the UK there is an unsettling culture of older gay men thinking they are helping or educating younger, underage, impressionable gay boys. Sadly, none of them believe they are grooming and that it's just a love story that these boys end up in their bed when they are of age.
Well, It is grooming, it is wrong and its not acceptable. Yes, there are many mentors who never take advantage of the boys they helped through their younger years and in fact push them away but all too often here it's seen as acceptable and that the youngster has made an informed choice.
What's really sick is that this man really believes he did nothing wrong.
If you think those doe eyes are mean he's innocent, ask yourself this acid test:
Would you find it acceptable to sleep with one of your children's friends, the one that always came to you for advice?

I agree with everything Chase says about homosexuality not being acceptable in previous years. But I don't think this was the case for Philip. To Chase: Everyone in the business always thought he was gay & most of them were surprised to find out that he was actually married. He found it difficult here to say the words, because he's embarrassed & rightly so. He only just recently went on tv to make a grand statement, saying that 'just recently' he'd been struggling with his sexuality. Yet according to what he says here, the struggle with his sexuality was going on YEARS ago. He's used it as an excuse. He hasn't struggled at all, he's always known he was gay & has been ok with it. In fact, he was so ok with it that he carried on gay relationships, which everybody on the show knew about. He would sneak off to his flat on Thursdays, which he called playdate Thursday. The young Man would be brought into work the next morning, by an ITV car. So they most definitely knew what was going on. He got married & had 2 Daughters. He HAS to make an excuse for having led his Wife up the garden path. So fo say he was 'struggling' gives him a bit of leeway. Also, to Scott, Philip has had training in acting. I believe that the whole 'defeated' look is totally put on. He's a narcissist (according to quite a few people who have worked with him) & he's simply looking for sympathy.
