Bloodborne - Would Trick Weapons & Firearms Work In Real Life

- I am a big fan of Bloodborne. It was the first From Software game that I played and the Victorian/Gothic/Lovecraftian horror vibe was perfect.
But the weapons? While fitting in the game, could they work in real life?

Bloodborne is a 2015 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. Bloodborne follows the player's character, a Hunter, through the decrepit Gothic, Victorian-era-inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants are afflicted with a blood-borne disease. Attempting to find the source of the plague, the player's character unravels the city's mysteries while fighting beasts and cosmic beings.
The game is played from a third-person perspective. Players control a customizable protagonist, and the gameplay is focused on strategic weapons-based combat and exploration. Players battle varied enemies while using items such as swords and firearms, exploring different locations, interacting with non-player characters, and unravelling the city's mysteries. Bloodborne began development in 2012 under the working title of Project Beast. Bearing many similarities to the Souls series of games by the same developer and director, Bloodborne was inspired by the literary works of authors H. P. Lovecraft and Bram Stoker and the architectural design of real-world locations in countries such as Romania, the Czech Republic and Scotland.
Bloodborne was released in March 2015 and received critical acclaim, with praise directed at its gameplay, particularly its high difficulty level, atmosphere, sound design, Lovecraftian themes, and interconnected world design. Some criticism was directed at its technical performance at launch, which was improved with post-release updates. An expansion adding additional content, The Old Hunters, was released in November 2015. By the end of 2015, the game had sold over two million copies worldwide. Bloodborne won several awards and has been cited as one of the greatest video games ever made. Some related media and adaptations have also been released, including a card game, board game and comic book series.
Bloodborne takes place in Yharnam, a decrepit Gothic city known for its medical advances around the practice of blood ministration. Over the years, many travellers journey to the city seeking the remedy to cure their afflictions; the player's character journeys to Yharnam seeking the cure, something known as Paleblood, for an unspecified illness. However, upon arriving in the city, it is discovered that Yharnam is plagued with an endemic illness that has transformed most of its citizens into bestial creatures. The player must navigate the streets of Yharnam during the night of The Hunt and overcome its violently deranged inhabitants and horrifying monsters to stop the source of the plague and escape the Nightmare. Long ago, the residents of Yharnam began worshipping ancient, eldritch cosmic beings known as the Great Ones after scholars from the College of Byrgenwerth discovered something referred to as a "medium" in the ruins of an ancient, highly advanced civilization, on top of which Yharnam was built. The Great Ones provided the healing blood Yharnam was famous for, which is also the source of the plague.
The player character, a Hunter, is being operated on by an old man, who explains that he is performing a blood transfusion to allow them to sign a "contract", mentioning a mysterious condition referred to as Paleblood. He warns the Hunter that they will go on a strange journey that may seem like a bad dream. The Hunter blacks out and awakens as a large, flesh-torn beast rises from the floor and menaces them. A sudden fire forces the beast's retreat, and then little creatures ("Messengers") crawl over the Hunter as they black out again. After the player completes character creation, the Hunter awakens on an operating table in a different clinic in Yharnam.
The Hunter finds their first lantern, which when lit transports them to a spectral realm called the Hunter's Dream, where they encounter Gehrman, an elderly wheelchair-using man who provides advice, and the Doll, a living doll who assists the player in leveling up. Gehrman explains that to obtain the blood they seek and escape the dream, they must hunt down the beasts raging through Yharnam and halt the source of the plague.

If you're here and haven't seen my similar breakdown of Elden Ring weapons... Here you go! ua-cam.com/video/qADxwBC-PsA/v-deo.html
Eyyyyy I remember that beowulf movie
My favorite thing about the Bloodborne weapons is that they were all unique and memorable. Every weapon stood out and their designs fit the world so well.
Definitely. They put thought into "what weapons would be common if we had to fight a lot of monsters"
@@MarcusVance And also the concept of trying to fight the beasts and trying to mitigate the madness that came with it. the Church weapons used longsword designs in order to keep their hunters feel like humans, the hunter weapons were serrated and primal because they imitated the beasts they were fighting, the blood weapons represented Cainhurst giving in to the vileblood. The lore in general is why Bloodborne is my favorite FromSoft game.
Except for like the 3 versions of the Saw Cleaver. Not complaining tho I love all them
@@praetorian217 the beasthunter saif definitely isnt just another cleaver tho. neither the tricked nor the untricked moveset is copy pasted like the saw spear and cleaver.
@@poseidonpwnsall ah alright. I haven’t used it in a while, so I sort of just associate it with the other two
The bit I like from the wooden shield description is "shields engender passivity" which is just such a burn at everyone that just circled around with their shield up backstab fishing in DS1 XD It's also good advice for former DS players in general, Dark Souls encourages you to take your time and wait for openings, Bloodborne still has some of that but it favours a more aggressive constant attacking style.
And that was the wrong lesson that DS teach because after BB all you will ever know is fashion souls with no shield.
To be honest, Bloodborne being aggressive was what I needed, I never understood hiding behind a shield in the Souls games.
@Sad Phrogé that's exactly what speed runners do, they don't even wear armor.
Bloodborne encourages aggression even further with Rally: the ability regain health loss by attacking within a small timeframe.
@@marverickmercer1968 Thorughout my entire DS career the shield in my offhand was almost always just a parrying tool. It's just no fun after BB to turtle with shields.
The Amy arm is apparently semi sentient so it should line up the edge it’s self intuitively because using it tricked is more akin to holding it out and letting it slash away at people then swinging a whip or flail.
I mean the tricked R2 attacks have followups that clearly show the weapon is alive and capable of attacking by itself.
The fact it's partially alive & moves means the added muscle might be able to assist in swinging it in the first place. Keeping control of the weight with all that momentum is the hardest part of wielding it I'd imagine.
@@CatsLeMatts Good point because the weapon IS hard to use
With the amount of hinges on these weapons, the Workshop must have known of some way to reinforce them that we don't have.
I mean they look pretty durable and have a sturdy locking mechanism should be usable but idk about practical as the weapons are still thick, wide and heavy metal. Especially since saws don’t make the best cutting edges hence the pushing and ripping motions that are intended.
@@zanemob1429 i mean if your goal is to rend the living shite outa beasts rather than just kill them then a bunch of razer teeths of a saw is quite fit for the job
Yea blood if you can have something that is sometimes a lube to allow moving and sometimes solid to reinforce plus u can always add more to the mix ..
@@havelthebonk1226 what
It's called bloodgems
In Bloodborne, blood crystalizes into shards, chunks, and rocks so the Bloodletter would probably actually be solidified blood which is pretty metal like most of the game is.
One note on the Rykuo: I think its meant to be more of a sabre with a short sword/dagger on the end, because when transformed, you use the lower blade and main blade together.
Came to the comments section to say this. It's definitely not a rapier
Exactly exept the r2 of both normal and transformed the long blade is always used to slash while to my knowlage a rapper is only used for piercing.
@@dollscentedhunter2514 correct. Rapiers are also different shaped. Essentially just a nail but with sharp edges. The gun sword that came after the rakuyo in this video is a gun on a rapier
The Kos Parasite was one of my absolute favorites from Bloodborne, since I really love the cosmic horror elements in it. The transformation required to use it at it's full potential just makes it even better: after dealing with so many tentacled horrors, you get to become one and use weird slug attacks and space magic.
I accidentally killed the npc while doing her mission. 😭
@@thetoyodacar2264 Ouch... How did that happen? Mistake her for an enemy?
Thanks to the moonlight greatsword I've always done magic builds in from games on my first playthrough and I gotta say, turning into an alien and floating around was not what I was expecting when I started bloodborne but god damn is it fun slapping the fuck outta everything
My favourite part about it is that the backstep r1 (or L1? I'm not so sure) has you literally barf fish on your enemy.
@@МаксимПлахотнюк-б9у I think those are slugs.
Funny thing about the Amygdala name, in the Japanese translation, the name of the boss is Amandoze, which correlates with the English word for almond, and when the localisation team were working on translating the name of the boss, they didn't want to call it an almond because who would be threatened by an almond? So they used the Greek work for almond, Amygdala, which became poetic since the amygdala is the part of the brain that controls fear. Just a fun coincidence.
Edit: forgot to mention: the Amygdala in the brain is called the Amygdala because it is shaped like an almond. So yeah.
would that not be an almondala?
I don't even think "Amygdala" is meant to be the monster's name -- it's more of a description. Like a less-spooky name for it would be something like "almond-head thing".
Of course, its head doesn't really look that much like an almond, but words failing when attempting to describe the monster is classic eldritch horror
It's also interesting in that its head looks more like a peach pit, which contains cyanide, which smells like almonds.
@@Anon26535 correction: cyanide does not smell like almonds. Almonds smell like cyanide.
Check out charred thermos and his theory on the bloodborne great ones.
The amygdala may just blow your mind. (Litteraly)
To be fair to the amygdalan arm, it does move on its own for some of the transformed attacks
Prediction before I finish the video: the hunter's blunderbuss is a very realistic weapon
But with the way normal whips work, wouldn't the threaded cane still work due to just moving really fast, like whips do? I'd imagine most of the weapons damage comes from a few edges that do actually connect, and the rest from the whips speed. Just a speculation but I'm a threaded cane enjoyer so I must at least try to put my piece in lol.
Usually the part of a whip that does the most damage is closer to the end. Combat whips did infact exist, however they were usually shorter and had metal or thick knots on the end. If the cane was shorter and the blades were more of at the end only it'd be much more functional. Hope that helped.
I don’t think it would go all that fast unfortunately; whip ends only move fast because they’re flexible elements that taper from thick at the hand to thin at the tip, amplifying slow motion of the hand to fast motion at the end, and having teeth would nullify that on its own. Threaded Cane looks equally thick all the way down, held together with braided steel wires, so it would handle much differently (plus, there is no way that you could make it a rigid cane afterwards without heavy or fragile locking features on each tooth and like a thousand pounds of tension keeping it from flopping on hit)
@@fly1ngG0PHER oh that's super cool, and makes sense. I'd imagine if the points were hollow, and more towards the end it would be a lot easier to deal damage yeah
There are weapons like the extended version, And it's used more as a ripping weapon then a slashing one.
I'm more curious about how you could transform a solid blade into an effective whip in the first place
Funny thing about the Rakuyo and Reiterpallasch is that they come from the Cainhurst nobility, which definitely fits in with the quirky rich people thing. Also with the Kirkhammer, the hammer head is literally a stone tombstone that they used for symbolic purposes, which makes it even worse since it'd be heavier and more prone to breaking! And your idea for the bow blade being two smaller swords coming together is exactly how Super Smash Bros. designed the character Pit's weapon.
The Wooden shield is actually pretty good despite its reputation. 70% physical damage negation, that goes a long way when messing up one dodge against the Cursed Watchdog of the Old Lords' big charge means death. It
really comes into value at higher health and stamina values, so I'm not sure about bringing it to blood-starved.
With the way enemies in Bloodborne like to combo, it has some pretty limited applications
Generally what i find in Bloodborne is that if a thing is viable against one dude without lockon its probably viable against three dudes without lockon. And the shield isnt really viable against more than one hit at a time.
I'll take that hint about the watchdogs, though. I know he hates executioners gloves.
@@hardgay7537I'm in a chalice dungeon rn going up against one of those and he does not care about my executioner gloves lol but he is a buffed up version I believe like a higher level bc I know I've spammed one to death with the gloves once lol I'm an arcane build too
To be fair the Amygdalan Arm isn't really judgeable as a weapon when transformed cause it's literally alive, and the edge aligns itself
The Amygdala is the part of the brain that manages Fear, so it was a very conscious choice naming the creatures as such in Bloodborne.
Love the video, I'm a big fan of the weapons in Bloodborne for their relative useability IRL
My only thought on the video itself is that Rakuyo is really more if a saber than a rapier
It's said to be made the same smith who made Chikage or something like that, so maybe it's supposed to be another katana hybrid, but to me it looks more like a swiss saber variant
Obviously the blade coming out of the end would require a great deal of training to use without injuring yourself even if your using wide swings instead of thrusts
But then again it is a weapon that requires a very high skill threshold to use
thanks subtitles for the "indian guitar"
For clarification he said "Katar" (Punch-Dagger)
Right?
@@JackWendigo1234 yes
@@liedo3358 O.K.
Just making sure I wasn't being dumb.
The rakuyo is a saber and dagger, not a rapier and dagger
Technically, it’s a saber and a knife.
feels fitting to come back to this after supporting the Kickstarter for a D&D 5e book that's basically legally distinct Bloodborne, complete with its own take of trick weapons.
the beast cutter's whip form is primarily used for smashing, looking at it in game shows that its actually hitting with the sides of it
I love the design of these weapons. I've never played the game or seen a lot of videos about it but thos look lole PEAK Dark Fantasy. These weapons are just BUILT DIFFERENT!!!!
I demand to know if the pebble could work in real life.
Quite thrilling.
boom hammer, if you look at the face, ther is vents im between the studs, so the hammer would force the fires out the other end. Also the Rakuyo is a sabre
i'm sure you could get a pretty deadly irl kos parasite if you wrapped blue ringed octopodes around your hands
My dad has a weedwhacker he modified so he could put circular saw blades on it. He says that he uses it for shrubs and denser patches of overgrowth, but I haven't ruled out him fighting elder gods yet
The stake driver is basically the parry blade from armored core.
Fun fact ac 3 was arguably the first from game with a parry mechanic
All of these observations are made basically on human metal with hunters surpassed long ago the use crazy special weapons also a hunter is probably 100 x smarter stronger and fast then any of us ..not to mention there biggest weapons were made to face beasts of unrealistic size and speed ...plus the whole game takes place in a dream of a dream of a nightmare at least in theory one other thing to consider is faith has real power if you pray hard enough u can lift any sword basically
The dreams appear to be physical locations, not like actual dreams inside your head. But yeah, the hunter can just sidestep a bullet in game so I'd say they're many times faster than us.
8:00 Nobody expects the Attacktopus!
wtf is a Whirligig Saw and why were you talking about it with a picture of the Pizza Cutter on screen?
The indian guitar the most terrifying of weapons
Of COURSE I want a trained attack octopus
My favorite thing about these is how they're all really crazy ideas
I thought thar Chris Lambert Beowulf movie was a fever dream of my youth.
Ive been waiting for this video
Wait and hear i was referring the Rakuyo as a katana
Quiet reminder that the Threaded Cane *isn't blunt* in its cane form. It's basically a sword with a cane head.
I saw that movie. It's a very enjoyable b-flick through I don't remember Beowulf using his sword as a club, but it been a long time since I heave seen it.
Man-at-arms made w fully functional sawcleaver
I always thought that the saw and whip weapons where more rip and tear not clean cuts
12:10 - this is 100% real, you take your weed whacker you buy Circular Saw attachment and you thake circular saw of your choosing. Then it's only bigger saw = bigger weed whacker = more expensive endeavour for just a murder play thing.
the Stake Driver is basically a pile bunker
given irl the lunges and "running with a weapon thrice your size" is impossible, the Stake Driver would be pretty useless for it's intended use of armor cracking. Or at least to me, a giant spike that can be wound up to punch stronger feels like it'd kill with impact instead of cutting through
Tonitrus superiority canonically confimed
Good video man I love it when someone has a talking point about this game .To this game it was a console seller for me.
I love the natural editing at 11:59 🙌🏼
I'd like to add to the saw cleaver/spear/saif - in addition to the hinge being a weak point, in the saw form your fingers are dangerously close to the inside blade. If that hinge gives, all your fingers are gonna get chopped off instantly.
I think amygdala is named after the part in the brain
Just a quick feedback: would have been great if you showed both versions of the weapons when explaining them. i haven't played BB in a while and dont remember a lot of these weapons. just so i can understand what you are talking about, it would have been helpful to see them in both forms
The editing is really lacking, he could have shown some photos of the real life weapons he was talking about
The rakuyo is a katana, the guard just looks like one that's on rapiers
The rakuyo is not a rapier, but a sabre. Maria rarely thrusts with this in her fight. That’s the only error and with proper awareness it is properly functional
The Rakuyo isn't a rapier, it's a single-edged sword that's wielded with a lot of wrist work with slashing motions. Though I do see why you'd think that considering how it looks.
an example of a pata could be found in the movie willow
I mean, basically (rationally) you'd put......keys....in the hinges so they dont flop about
Personally I like the cane.
Sure, extended form might not be as efficient as a regular sword.
However. A whip in the right hands, a normal whip already? Could easily cut off your finger, and cause a pretty bad scar.
Now take a whip with sharp metal bits all over it.
Yeah, there is no way in hell someone would get out of that fight without some deep cuts, pray that no major arteries were cut or it never hit your neck.
I respect whips and people that can use one properly from a distance.
the amygdala are actually named After the amygdala in the brain! you know, fear and all
1:45 yeah you're not really the one controlling the scythe the weapon is alive
But you didn't talk about transformed rakuyo which is basically "sword and dagger"
The Rakuyo isn't a rapier, its a sabre. You can see the blade only has one edge, and it is slightly curved.
Beowulf. I think I remember him killing Grundel, bang his golden mom, she turn in a dragon and he kill her when he is an old man.
I'd love to see you examine the monster hunter weapons, there would be so much to talk about lol
i hope I'm not the first the wheel doesn't have only one use you could throw it like a Frisby
what is the name of the rapier with the blade coming out of the end? I can´t seem to find images of the example.
1:57 “Indian guitar” 😂
Anything is a weapon if u want it to be
Another note about why a handheld gatling-type weapon wouldn't work: recoil. The concept of the handheld gatling gun we see in Hollywood is a myth and quite physically improbable in real life. Unless you're using a light caliber like .22LR, the high rate of fire combined with using rifle-caliber rounds would make that thing climb FAST. It would be way too difficult to control.
I think most hunters could use this because they are stronger, faster, and more durable than normal humans, they're just a little crazy lol
Wait your telling the normal mode of the moonlight sword is too big and wouldn't work or the transformed mode size but in steel wouldn't work?
The whirlgig saw was one of the best weapons in the game.
This really tells us that Hunter's strength is above the normal capabilities of a human.
Bayonet you're thinking of a bayonet
Bayonet's are not sword-guns. They are an attachment you can use standalone. They're a separate weapon from the gun.
Isn't there a weapon from India that's essentially a long razor-edged metal whip?
And I get the Riflespear idea if it were considered a spear with a gun on the end. Though, considering it's design, wouldn't it seem more accurate to compare it to a rifle with an adjustable bayonet?
Yes. Firearms work in real life
Fixing the joint problems wouldn't be too bad but it would require much more strength and dexterity to wield properly. At least, like in the game. In our universe, not possible.
Don't just ruin the peoples dreams. Break down why
The rifle spear and Reiterpallasch are reversed bayonets.
This was very cool and thought provoking vid 👍🏻
That's a pretty beefy scar on your forearm. What happened?
I saw that movie in high school English class 😂
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t the person who made dark souls also make bloodborne?
Your comments on a real bowblade make me think, would any Kid Icarus Uprising weapons work as real weapons?
Oh god I need him to do a video on kid Icarus yes
Guitar… wow.
saw it bout the same time i watched mortal kombat
The word amygdala and the word amygdala is pronounced the same in both context because it is the same word.
I saw Beowulf!
It bugs me that "AH-mig-DAH-la" is considered the canonically correct pronunciation, when it's almost certainly only pronounced that way in-game because the voice actor didn't know how to pronounce the word "amygdala"
I enjoy it because it bothers my wife
Now i k ow youll probably never look at this comment and i know i barely know anything about blades and such but would the saw cleaver and them weapons work if you held your non dominant hand on the lower side of the handle and dominant on the higher and use it to well saw through what or who you desire just yiud have to get close and im sure put a lot of weight or force into the downward sipe
It wouldn't be the most efficient in a fight that way
So funny enough there is a shorter blunderbuss called a Dragon that was used by Dragoon cavalry
Don't just say their bad, give us a GOOD reason why. Hinges are fixable, is a human issue? What stops a person from perfecting this?
Um... the Rakuyo isnt a rapier coz rapiers don't have slice attack and yes theres animation in its base form that could be from a rapier move but theres also slashing type moves too and yes as in base form its not 100% practical coz u can cut urself very easily however its dual welding form is way better and more practical
Rapiers can cut
Rakuyo is a katana.
When you're a transhuman eldritch abomination in human skin, what weapons are viable or not tends to be different than for a normal guy.
I think the beast cutter is a lot better than you might think. It was made to bonk and puncture something like a hefty pick, not cutting (despite the name)so you won't have to worry too much about edge aligment. In the game it actually does blunt damage
Yes, though it would still be massively heavy and wouldn’t neatly retract without a lot more springs and pulleys, it’s less of a whip than a Chinese meteor hammer, albeit with extra heads (that would hurt if they hit, but not that much, and slow down the actual swing too much). If only the top head came off and extended, I’m guessing the head would be able to swing much faster and hit way harder.
@@fly1ngG0PHER bloodborne tech
@@fly1ngG0PHER beast cutter makes beast butter
The model I have works pretty well on -furries- beasts.
A note with the boomhammer is that the face actually has holes in it to allow fire to get through the front. They are between the meat tenderizer spikes
To be fair, you aren't really swinging the Amygdala Arm. It's more like you're holding it back.
Part of the limited edge alignment for these weapons is that the beasts of yarnham are less susceptible to clean cuts, instead the hunters found that the blunt but serrated weapons could RIP AND TEAR their quarry much more effectively.
The Ludwig's Holy Blade actually does Blunt damage in its Tricked form aside from its thrusting Heavy Attack, so it's basically a stylized version of the idea you brought up a minute earlier of a sword with a tetsubo sheath.
Why does it exist, then, if it's functionally the same as the Kirkhammer aside from still having a Thrust damage attack in its two-handed form? Well, the Kirkhammer is a dedicated Strength-scaling weapon, while the LHB is the best "Quality" weapon in the game going by raw scaling, and also one of the best Arcane-scaling weapons in the game, if you want to stick elemental damage gems on it. I defer to your expertise here, but I think that kinda tracks with their design, with the concentrated mass of the Kirkhammer needing more heave to get moving, while the more evenly distributed weight of the LBH benefiting from more skillful application.
Also, while the Stake Driver can readily be compared to a katar or pata, I think its charged attack specifically draws more from the idea of a captive bolt gun used to humanely slaughter animals, which is kind of a stroke of thematic genius. It's a little hard to tell exactly how it's being employed under the fire and smoke, but simply pressing or punching it against a target and then firing the charge would probably be more effective than firing it as part of a thrusting attack.
Holy blade poke like a spear, with better range then the spear. I love spears, so i use it.
Poke.
@@ishnoll I have 2 build strats in Bloodborne: Quality LBH jank, and abusing the two trick gun weapons. LHB heavy attacks have nothing on the "backstab from the other side of the hall" range of Rifle Spear heavy attacks.
Makes sense seeing how djura renounced his hunter status
The trick weapons in Bloodbourne were created with a dual-purpose in mind. Most of these weapons in lore, were created to defend against the ongoing beast curse outbreak, and the angry mobs lobbying for blood from the churches. Thus, the churches created weapons that can combat both MEN and BEAST. Hence, the usual dramatic shift in size and/or function. Take for example, Ludwig's Holy Blade. A simple sword meant for man at first, however, when sheathed it become a great sword capable of taking down things MUCH larger in size. The weapon even hints at it in the description. Something like "the greatsword was for taking down foes of a inhuman size".
Bloodborne is one of my favorite games of all time. Thank you for this. Edit: Bloodbornes weapons are so unique, that even though there aren't that many weapons in the game (by other rpg standards) it feels like there is way more than enough because every one has 2 modes and is just so unique. GOD I love Bloodborne
It's a great game.
I'd like to point out that most weapons in Bloodborne are designed for ripping and tearing flesh, as opposed to making clean cuts. Stuff like the Threaded Cane, for example, are designed to get embedded in your opponent's flesh and tear the affected area apart as they try to break free. The same goes for the cleaver-type weapons (or really any serrated weapon). You get one good hit in, and then watch them struggle to unbury the weapon from their flesh as they slowly bleed to death. Now, they don't work like that in-game because the game is too fast-paced for that kind of weapon to be portrayed accurately, but that's the lore reason for why a lot of weapons are designed so weirdly. And yeah, they may not work too great in a full-scale fight, but they're great for duels or skirmishes with smaller groups of enemies.
And as for the hinges being a weak point, they're stated to be one of the most heavily-reinforced parts of the weapon. So it'll take a lot more than just a few sword swings or a mace to break them.
If you do not drain the beasts of blood and burn their bodies then they will recover a short while later, hence why the weapons are serrated (or super-heavy because breaking their bones also works).
I like how his analysis of the Bloodletter is that it's extended form couldn't be used because of the weight, and not because it requires the user to IMPALE THEMSELVES with it
