A C02 type fire extinguisher is designed for electrical fires and won't hurt your hardware. They are WAY more expensive. But so is our gear. The fire Ext. ball is a great failsafe no matter how much hardware you have. Used correctly it can minimize the chances of your house burning down. I'm here in the USA, Denver
One of the reasons I turn everything off if we are going on vacation. Better safe and lose a week of mining rather than the house. May even check with your homeowners insurance to ensure there are no measures you need to put in place to be covered. Be as safe as you can guys, you won’t regret it. From Good ‘Ol Texas, USA.
Hey Red panda I'm from Texas USA. This video is eye awaking for home miners like myself to monitor all of our mining equipment to prevent fires...especially home mining fires .thanks for the great video
I would suggest you get all flammable items out of all the rooms. Boxes / banners and so on.. Treat the rooms like an electrical closet, nothing but equipment.
There are ambient temp alarms sold by gun safe makers that will alert you on your phone when there's a spike in ambient (fire). I believe you can also program them to call the fire department as well. Washington state USA.
halocarbon-based and inert gas fire suppression systems. Could you hear smoke alarms over the sound of all the fans? Potentially no power if power goes out because of no power. So UPS?
PLC + Thermal Couple to monitor temperature. If temp go beyond threadhold = cutoff power. Current monitoring device (DC output) + contactor = if fan not running, no startup/cutoff loop power. Industrial grade PLC (siemens) is very stable and precise on what it does, and its also has a lot of fun when learn thru it.
Canada Great advice about remote alerts. One suggestion would be remote alerting Smoke detector such as the Kidde Smoke alarm with Air Quality monitoring. These need to be connected to all of the smoke detectors and provide whole house protection. Agree with adding water detection and CO2 rather than dry chemical extinguisher
This is such an important crypto mining topic. I have a fireball extinguisher as well and a wifi smoke detector. But I'm always nervous when I am away for an extended time. I'm from the USA.
I think it is important to monitor your riggs especially when away. Its always good to have a backup too. Ex: backup fan kick on if the primary fails. Some webcams have fire alarm detection (Wyze). You may need a way to cut power if the rigs do not shut down. The unifi sensor devices are cool.
I'm new to mining and crypto in general, and this is one of my biggest concerns about leaving my rig and this video helps identify some of those failsafe measures.
those sensors are great but what you really need are smoke/fire detectors that are connected to your home security system that will automatically call the fire department . sometimes insurance companies will give discounts on these devices, usually they are wireless so easy to install. The smoke/fire detectors are the only reason i ever paid monthly fees for a monitored security system.
in the UK red fire extinguishers are water which shouldn't be used with an electrical fire. BLUE which is powder and Black which is C02 should be used on electrical. But I would still check that out RPM.
RPM, I’m in Texas USA. Thank you for the video and bringing safety awareness to this space. Complacency is no joke and is a leading cause for injury in any field.
I think having safety measures for the farm is very important and you just never know what may happen when youre not at home. Great video as always - USA!
Regardless if someone is a miner or not, these are great prevention tips that we can be better prepared to protect our electronics. Another good video will be about how did you prepare your insurance, since it is important to list the specs of the items besides the cost so in case of a tragedy they can potentially cover/refund you with something with similar specs and with whatever they want.
I actually had the thought yesterday about knowing if something is on fire because the weather has been getting warmer. Great video explaining your take on what to do. USA
Hello RPM, Good vid, this is a topic I'm sure a lot people wanted to know about, me for one, if not its something they should consider. I like how you have a camera on them as well. One thing you might wanna consider doing is finishing up the ceiling's, help give some fire suppression if a fire breaks out. Pretty sure this is the 1st time seeing a fire extinguisher in a mining vid. Keep up the good work. Indiana here.
A 2nd window fan setup on the left panel next to the other fan for redundancy would be an easy addition. Maybe set the power sensor to turn on a few degrees above the primary fan.
I’ve recently setup some similar safeguards for my farm as well. This should be everyone’s step one, even if they only have one rig. You had some great points and ideas in this video! USA
Great video to highlight the safety practices need to mitigate potential mining hazards. I would definitely recommend putting those covers back on those electrical panels too! USA
As a newbie to the community I recently purchased the Ks0Pro and immediately had these concerns of the miner being a fire hazard, this video was very informative and your channel has gotten me into the community and I’m excited to see where everything takes me USA 🇺🇸 💪🏽
Great topic! I will definitly be purchasing some sensors and the fireball. We all get comfortable until something happens and it's too late. It is better to be prepared. From the USA.
Always great to have backup security on your hardware, fricking sucks that the hardware doesnt forllow the firmware shutdowns like they are supposed to. I'm building a mining shed in my backyard this summer, i was going ot see if i can find a tempsensor that i can link to my electricity to do a direct power cut if the temp gets to a extream. USA
Water sensor is a good idea, may also consider some security cameras, a good PTZ camera does wonders and I see them a lot of in offsite hosting. Some cameras also can detect alarams/sirens and notify you.
Quite the eye opener on things I should probably get and setup myself. I think you are off to a great start! I'll have to look into the availability of some of these in Ontario, Canada.
I’m in the USA, I currently use a ring indoor camera in the garage for checking for fires, hoping that if anything ever catches fire that it detects motion and notifies me. Have the camera named fire hazard for ring.
Monitoring and prevention are great, but even the best made plans will always have oversights. I can't count the number of times I have heard a tech or maintenance person say "well, that wasn't supposed to happen". My general rule is "Out of town, power down" USA
You really can’t over do it when it comes to you and your family’s safety so I’m glad to see you’re going above and beyond in precautionary measures. Stay safe RPM. Thanks for the info. USA.
Definitely a good idea to have some sort of monitoring system or power shut off system that can be controlled when you are away. Good for day to day use and definitely when on vacation. Excited to see what you do as I need to do it as well. USA
you can get fire extinguisher bottles with real sprinklers (bottles are fat, they have another shape then normal bottles.... so they can hang from ceiling ) somehow i find them better to place so it makes stuff safe. also when it comes to temps i trust the good old sprinkler heads better
I just started mining in my dad's garage with just two asics (s9 and a l3+) it's been hard to tell how heat causes damage so I did what did with your ASICS as well. Usa based
Red Panda, I use the HiveOS app on my android which sends me hourly notifications indicating Rig(s) online and total hashrate. I also get rig offline and high temperature live alerts which lets me know when to panic hysterically. As a general rule, if I'm out of town, all equipment is switched off - better safe than sorry I suppose. PS: In South Africa, so not eligible for the giveaway.
As most of your rigs are in octominers, your fireballs arent going to be very effective.. They are best used above open rigs where the fire sources (gpus, psu) are more exposed. I suppose you already know this though as you mention its more to stop flames around the rigs/other things catching on fire, and better to have than not.. This type of solution is particularly popular in parts of SEA - its cool to see fireball usage spreading elsewhere now.
Great video to help protect miners & monitor for heat to prevent damage. Have you considered DePin sensors (ie. Fry) that will let you mine tokens while you monitor? Ontario, Canada
redundancy on exhaust fans brother! have two instead of one going full bore > if one goes down it should be able to ramp up and sustain while you get alerted to address higher than usual temps
love the idea, i dont really have system to fire fight, but i have my Hive (nickname for mining room) placed on the roof top , placed on concrete ground aware from everything else.
How do you give away an asic from UA-cam? Is there an emailing system? Also how is mining with gpu’s still profitable with the scalping price of graphic cards and the return on investment. America btw.
I have a few of those fire extinguisher balls too, but I cheaped out and didn't get the Elide Fire ones. But some youtubers have done some testing, and it seems the ELIDE FIRE brand are the only ones that work as intended. Anyone else have any experience with these?
Love the topic tonight. From USA and first couple months of mining and boy what am I going to do when I am on vacation? I saw Red fox shut his stuff down, and didn't want to do it on my trip, but heck by the time it gets here might have to because of earnings. Let's hope for pump soon! Love the content brother!
I only have 3 rigs and i always grt paranoid when i leave for vacation and jm always checking rigs and temps. I jave a fire extinguisher in the kitchen but probably shouls get one thats safe for electronics. Canada
Excellent content. I really need to do the same. When I go out of town, I am turning everything off just in case, BUT I really need to get some failsafes as well. Thanks RPM! 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸

I'm gonna try to get some ambient temp alarms and a webcam! Oh I live in texas in the u s a!
USA. Overheating / fires are definitely a concern for me. Excellent video to serve as a reminder to make sure were all mining SAFELY!

Great idea to have a camera there to watch! I got a fire extinguisher first too and a fire blanket. Gotta get a fire ball too.
I'm new to mining and crypto in general, and this is one of my biggest concerns about leaving my rig and this video helps identify some of those failsafe measures.
It’s always good to be thinking about safeguarding your rigs while you’re away. USA 🇺🇸
All your ideas there were great! One thing to mention is to have someone close by you can trust just in case you are away. Always helps. USA here.

I did the same finally near the end of last summer. I had 6 of the same fans but one went out and everything went wild hot! Peace of mind now. USA
USA
Blanket coverage with the multiple monitoring and prevention methods. Fun to follow the evolution of your setups. Canada
Thanks for keeping us in line this stuff is important! Canada
Great video to highlight the safety practices need to mitigate potential mining hazards. I would definitely recommend putting those covers back on those electrical panels too! USA
You should use class c fire extinguisher for mining rigs/computers. abc will destroy the cards. USA
Great idea. There needs to some auto-temp failsafe for farms to protect the GPUs
Never head of a fire extinguisher ball. Cool concept and hope it works it comes to that! USA

I’m in USA, Texas. I had a small fire with a bitmain power supply. Everything was moved out of the house to a shed 300 ft away.
These are great fire prevention and notification measures. I really like that Sensor Push system. USA
I'm from Texas USA and the Temps during the summer are very high so I bought a few portable A/C units to help cool them down.
USA, I am always worried about having my rigs running while I'm out of the house, I usually ask my friend to stop by and check in on everything.
This haas definately given me more idea to look at to keep an eye on stuff while I am away for work or fun.
Water sensor is a good idea, may also consider some security cameras, a good PTZ camera does wonders and I see them a lot of in offsite hosting. Some cameras also can detect alarams/sirens and notify you.
US, good to see you are taking safety not just profits seriously.
Quite the eye opener on things I should probably get and setup myself. I think you are off to a great start! I'll have to look into the availability of some of these in Ontario, Canada.
This is definitely an eye opener. Thanks for bring this to our attention and I sure this is a possible reality commonly ignored or forgotten.
I’m in the USA, I currently use a ring indoor camera in the garage for checking for fires, hoping that if anything ever catches fire that it detects motion and notifies me. Have the camera named fire hazard for ring.
I need to pick up a couple of those extinguisher balls. Good video to keep awareness up especially with warmer temperatures on the way.
Monitoring and prevention are great, but even the best made plans will always have oversights. I can't count the number of times I have heard a tech or maintenance person say "well, that wasn't supposed to happen". My general rule is "Out of town, power down" USA
Great video, definitely need to clean out my gpus rigs and check everything! Thanks for the recommendations Canada
Canada. For any equipment that is on 120v, I use a smart plug. I can monitor the wattage and easily tell if something isn't functioning.
Great vid. Also good to learn from other miners past mistakes
I really appreciate the safety knowledge. Will very much be focused on this for the home and office farm! I’m in the USA!!
You really can’t over do it when it comes to you and your family’s safety so I’m glad to see you’re going above and beyond in precautionary measures. Stay safe RPM. Thanks for the info. USA.

Your videos have been very helpful and I look forward to watching the rest of the Playlist. Thanks!
9:00 Don't forget a water sensor for the Farm Basement. 👍
Thank you for the content. Fire safety is no joke and everyone should be taking precautions.
(In the USA)
RPM! Thanks for the fire safety reminders, I gotta get on that! USA!
you can get fire extinguisher bottles with real sprinklers (bottles are fat, they have another shape then normal bottles.... so they can hang from ceiling )
somehow i find them better to place so it makes stuff safe.
also when it comes to temps i trust the good old sprinkler heads better
Hope taking all those safety measures pays off if needed! Usa
The autofan Critical temp (with shutdown option) could shut off your rigs when that exhaust fan stopped
Make sure to turn that fire extinguisher upside down once in awhile so that powder doesn't harden on the bottom. USA
I just started mining in my dad's garage with just two asics (s9 and a l3+) it's been hard to tell how heat causes damage so I did what did with your ASICS as well. Usa based
That’s some great ideas, I always worry coming home and think I see smoke coming from the area where my home is. USA

I love that fire ball. I can use some of those. I'm in the USA, of course, and my first RPM RX5700 needs company!

CO2 fire stinguisher recommended, not dry powder.
I have two rigs and maybe I got lucky going on vacations. No issues so far but I gotta implement some failsafe mechanisms.
Good strategies! Makes me think about smoke sensors that can alert you like those temp sensors. Happy solar mining from CA USA
Canada here. Hard days for home miner. Although we know next year we will have better porfits, it's really hard for this year...
Hello from Ohio, in the US. WOuld those ubiquiti all-in-one sensors work with Home Assistant, too?
this is a nice fire alarma system but I got a question for you what would you do if your rig burn? and I'm from Canada
Monitoring your temps should be on every miners mind. Great video! USA
fire balls are a good idea. ABC extinquisher is very important. I like the idea of a video camera with motion notification is a good idea. From Canada

USA - Good ideas for helping with fires when you are away.
Hi Red panda you also need wifi controlled powersupply if need turn power off. When you on holiday
I have a heat and humidity sensor attached to Helium hotspots.. this is how you would know
i have definitely become complacent. Fire safety is definitely something i need to get set up on. USA.
I haven’t had any issues with my cpu rigs yet. But the motherboards have gotten pretty hot! I hope I don’t have any issues. USA
Very smart setup. From Canada.
