Original bend tests were for people who accidentally sat on their phone. If you need to pull over somebody who specifically rock climbs, because your grip is not enough to bend an iPad, a device with significantly more area, it passes.

No because it is a legitimate worry. The thinner something gets the more you worry it will break. This videos purpose was to show you that it’s not an eggshell, you don’t have to be overly cautious when using it.

If you call a grown man trying to bend it as hard as he can easily bent, then sure it bends. If you treat it like a £1300 device and give it the care it deserves, that bend test is very reassuring for such a thin device.
I mean that's still impressive that it held a bend like that and was working. Generally speaking most people have the keyboard cases or something for these so this would never be an issue for 99.99% of people.
I like that they make it thin, like they don’t know people will immediately put a case on it because it’s far too expensive to not protect and too thin to properly hold.
Just a heads up, I know you know more about tech than I do, but please make sure the battery is removed or at least fully drained before you do this to prevent a puncture then fire or explosion next time

zack from jerryrigeverything has bend tested it. the failure point metal frame on the usb c port creates pressure point that crack the screen. iPad isn't bend resistant when you bend it the other side
I think it's actually a good thing to show under which stress this product can and does fail. Knowing that it takes really a lot of force to permanently damage it makes me think that Apple did enough to strengthen it
Actually The fact both withstood the “someone sat on it” type of bend and the only way the 13inche broke was being bent at the corners I think actually paired attention to why the older ones broke

Since it only has support built in along one side, when bend along the horizontal axis it snaps easily
The fact that it took that much effort from a ROCK CLIMBER to break it gives me confidence
to break, but it did bend quite fast
