Excuse me for a rant, but Cid is the best character. Nothing edgy about his backstory, no government conspiracies about altering his DNA or losing a friend or a village, or being the supposed last of his kind. Actually, he's the first of his kind: screw having an oversized weapon or a mental hairstyle to compensate for something, this guy builds freaking rockets! And then he gets screwed over by a combo of the kindness of his heart & bureaucracy. His inventions from the rocket that's take him to space to an airship that'd take him across the world are seized. There's nothing graceful about that situation either, he gets PISSED OFF! Feck, when some spiky-headed weirdo shows up with some extra losers to try and nab his bi-plane, the only thing he has left, & goddamn Shinra show up again with a sudden second interest, even THEN he's still pissed off. Why do these plebs always show up to take his stuff & claim they're out to change the world?
The only comforts the man has is in the everyday. He drinks his goddamn tea, & when there's important meetings that bore his rocket scientist mind, he sleeps through them! Nothing like the end of the world is going to stop him from getting some things done on the bucket list.
And that's why he has one of the best theme songs. He's his own man, he started space tech & aviation on his own, the woman he eventually loves he criticises the bejesus out of all the time, & goddamnit if you're in his house, you sit down, shut up, & drink some goddamn tea.

Cid is legendary throughout the ff saga! Since ff2, his legacy of helping the warriors of light to obtain his glorious highwind is what keeps us coming back!

Who's looking forward to the remake of FF7? I certainly fucking am! Getting to relive my youth by playing a truly amazing video and not caring about it's age or outdated gameplay. As a youth, is was the best video game I ever played and to this day is STILL one of the best. It doesn't matter if you love CoD or BF or Lollipop Chainsaw, but what people have to understand is that FF7 touched fans emotionally to the point it gave us all lasting memories of how truly epic it is.

you serious? Cid had the strongest personality out of the cast by far. When he was on screen, he stole the show. Not only is he the best incarnation of "Cid" in the series but one of the best characters period. Strong in battle and even stronger in the dramatic scenes, he was awesome.

This is the song I listened to when I took my first motorcycle out for my first solo ride.this song only gets more epic when you're hurtling down the highway at 120mph with nothing between you and the road but a helmet and some leather.

Well put, my friend. It's not just a song that plays whenever he's on screen- it tells his lifestory in the form of a musical track. He's a man who chased his dreams, and had them crash down. He picks himself up, and the very people that gave him the power to accomplish his dreams took away his chance to fly. Anyone could've been distraught at such losses, but instead, he picked himself up, and fought against shinra and to stop Sephiroth, all to save the world. He is- Cid Highwind.
Cid's Theme is one of the few video game tracks that can actually move me, and it's not even sad! This version of it is great, and I had to add it to my favorites.
With absolute affirmation this song is going to be my country's national anthem.
Ah the good ol' days I neglected so many hours of homework and study during the life of this game when it was first released. How many years has it been? I can still feel the power of this song -thumbs up-

I only played this game in 2003, for the first time, after GTA 3 and other games. In spite of the graphics, it was the best videogame experience I've ever had.
I love how there's always a Cid in every game. Whenever I play a new one I always wait for the name to come up!

You know of all the games that I feel deserve a reboot, I believe Final Fantasy is the most in need of it. Not because I really hate the games, or because I don't like the recent ones, but because with all the great art and music that is put into each and every game to create a fresh world for we as the players to explore, they don't put as much thought into the main characters as they used to and the games are starting to suffer because of it.
I could cry, this reminds me about my adolescence..

This is also true for me, my first RPG was Super Mario: Seven Star Story on Super NES. My first Final Fantasy was FF7, and it was the game that got me to buy a Playstation and changed my entire gaming career!! Now, I will always love Sony and FF!!! Next, I bought Dragon Quest 7 and never got into it like I did with FF... Xenogears and Xenosaga are also my favs!!

Holy......I thought that Cid Highwinds theme in FF VII is already over the top epic and heroic and can't be topped anymore....and here I am, several years later, listening to THIS very version and...GODDAMN HAVE I BEEN WRONG!
Lessons to be learned from this:
- Tea is for the REAL man!
- You don't need a fancy sword, or guns, just a lance.
- Don't let the b**** fix your gas, do it yourself.
AND...
- A game that is truly well made with a deep storyline will always inspire and ignite the hearts of sentimental and intelligent people out there. Memories are made and dreams are shared and the Cid Highwind is a representation of those same dreams and ideals we all share.
I want this version to be used in the Remake.

Which brings me to a realization.. There is always a Cid in all FF games, yet they chose FF7's Cid for that game. That's just showing how great Final Fantasy 7 is as a game :D

Why we love Cid.
I actually feel kind of bad for all the haters out there. They endlessly mock us and tell us that this "stupid" game is dead. But what they don't realize is that they will probably NEVER achieve the same level of unity we all feel radiating from each other just from our shared experience of this wonderful, groundbreaking story. They are truly pitiable.
the story of this game was so amazing that it stands tall amongst rpg games still to this day
you know when you think about it, the reason they are considering using 15 and 0's worlds for several titles is because the worlds are so reminiscent of the late SNES early PS titles...not to mention a lot of writers from then are doing those one's stories. in a way this might be their way of responding to people asking for that exact thing, while still being able to completely change later titles...plus the way they talk 0 and15 they're really proud of XD

Thing is though the epic music, and awesome combat is what makes it a game and not just a movie... you can always play a movie and see it instantly, but a game is supposed to be slowed down by actual combat and playing, otherwise it is just movie or a graphical novel....What they need to do though for Final Fantasy 15 is make it a real roleplaying game where you can actually decide what characters do and the path they take... I just love multiple endings !!!

FFX-2 is in the same world as FF7 only about 1000 years in the past. A character named Shinra talks about the possibility of using the Farplain as a source of energy but the technology wouldnt be available for many years. There is a video on it.

It was a perfect fan tribute. The writer was called "Cindy" I think. She also had a "Guile" theme from Street Fighter that was more epic than any other I've heard. Disappoints me that both are gone, now. I think the Cid theme was part of a larger theme called "Project Rebirth" if memory serves me.
