Summer 2024 in the Netherlands | Harvest of flax, wheat, soil cultivations

In our second video of 2024 we see farmers and contractors in the Netherlands working during the months of July and August. Winter wheat is being harvester and the first step of flax harvest also takes place. We also see soil cultivations taking place.

What is done with the flax? What is it used for?

This is used to make linen, a natural fibre that is used to make clothing. Off-cuts are used as biobased material for the car industry for example. The seed is pressed and the oil extracted. The cake goes for animal feed.
