the reason you dont see faith healers in a hospital is the same reason you dont see psychics playing the lotto

agree, proof would be mid night saturday in an emergency room. let the miricles flow brother. Sadly the room would still be over full and the wait time would still be 5hrs and you would still be bleeding.

well i am sure some go to hospitals, but it is when they are the patient. they are certainly never there to use any actual 'healing powers.'

nausea ok yea i can give you that point... i mean like if i had healing powers and i was a "good moral person" i know id be going to the hospital and curing people all day, hell id make it my full time job, all i would ask is if people want to donate they can, but i wouldnt require it, i would ask for enough to keep me doing the healing and not working, extra money i would donate to people who need it more..... but hey im only an immoral atheist, unlike those moral christians who only use their healing powers on people who give them money that they keep so they can live lavish lives..... ugh i guess it sucks that they will get to go to heaven while i burn for being such a horrible person

I went to a faith healing event once. The pastor will load up reasons why a healing won't work as well. "Satan is tricking you into thinking you're not healed," "you didn't have enough faith." The people that come up on stage in wheelchairs didn't come into the venue with wheelchairs, the wheelchairs were just provided to them ON STAGE.
Old ladies with scoliosis walking on canes can walk without their canes for a few minutes. So pastors will claim their scoliosis is healed and make them walk without their cane for a few seconds, somehow proving the healing worked when they shouldn't be walking without that cane.
Scam scam scam. And it's all tax free, and they need more donations for a private jet and mansion - for Jesus, of course.

"Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living
in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day.
And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you... and HE NEEDS MONEY!"

+Ebony Atheist There is the Real the Fake and The Demonic. Derren Brown is exposing the fake and there are plenty of them. The bible itself says beware of false prophets. The bible also says those who believe can do the same works as Jesus did cast out devils and heal the sick but many selfish people are stealing peoples money by using such false teaching and false miracles for there benefit. Many of the false faith healers are the ones that are televangelists on tv who earn big bucks and live in luxury houses like benny hinn and kenneth copeland however there are genuine faith healers out there like pete cabrera jr , tom loud and john mellor who take out more money than cash in for themselves and have proof that miracles did happen and not any placebo effect which also happens very often and some people praying dont realise how powerful the mind can be. There is more to life than the physical realm, the problem is your five physical senses cannot procces this neither using logic and science.

I read a medical article about a man who had his sight fixed after having been blind all his life. When the bandages came off and he could see for the first time, his brain had no way to understand the shapes, colors, movements, etc., because he had no frame of reference. He was so overwhelmed that it was like madness, and he said he wished he could go back to being blind because at least he understood the darkness.
Think about babies lying in their cribs, looking up at mobiles and the occasional face, and trying to sort all that info into understanding. Now try it again with someone middle-aged.

I have to say if these faith healers had real powers and I had them I wouldn't be going and trying to earn money I would go into a hospital and start healing the people with cancer and aids, but then again I am just a selfish atheist.

How dare you even think of spreading the gift of God without tithes and offerings! Do you believe that His Miracles aren't worth His Servants receiving the blessings of His People? By doing this, you devalue the Glory of the Lord! (sarcasm...Plus I'm really good as speaking Christianese. Allow me to show off my skills...) God rains blessings down upon those who submit to becoming servants for His Will. Would you deny His servants the blessings that come from allowing themselves to become a vessel for Christ? Do you not see the sacrifice that comes with the Anointing? These chosen men of God have given themselves completely to Him in full obedience. Therefore, it is God's Will that they prosper......eeeewwwp...I just creeped myself out....

    • @DanCleary1
      @DanCleary1 10 років тому +4

MirrorWitch13 Hahahaha... love the post. but you misinterpreted the meaning of the tithes and offerings. Sure, the "Prophets" (Is that how you spell it? For some reason I keep thinking it might be spelled "Snake oil salesmen") get some of that money. But a large percentage goes to god. I just applied to be a snake oil salesman, err, oops "Prophet" I mean, and the boilerplate documents god sent me clearly show that he demands a 25% cut of all revenue. Apparently this is because god is facing some hard times, and his children are thinking about going to university for science degrees

Its an 'if' case which means he mentioned that he would actually heal people for fre IF he had the ability. Either way, whats malevolent about healing somebody just for the sake of healing somebody?
Oh, and what I see in christianity is not a religion of benevolence, but a system of oppression and irrational belief in a higher power. All there is to salvation is unproven false hopes.

Raising the dead: Healing the sick and injured is the same as raising the dead. A dead person is just a person that is so sick or injured that their bodies can no longer live and support a spirit. A healer is saying that they can physically rearrange the atoms in a person’s body and make them work right. It is the same as saying that they can reattach a person's head after it has been cut off, or make a new leg grow on an amputee. *(page 190 Present with Religion)* For the *Real Truth* Google *TruthContest* and read the Present

I know this myself. I have UC and for nearly a decade my mom would drag me around to special preachers doing faith healing and such. Not one of them worked. For a fucking decade! And we still kept doing it. I was fully into it believing that I couldn't screw this up and the day I stop believing could be the day before I got a miracle. So I was completely wrapped up in this. The UC led to poor nutrition, which led to weak bones. Which ultimately resulted in both bones near my calf breaking whenever I was trying to play some football and a senior fell into me. I was still going around to the faith healers with UC AND now a broken leg. Eventually we followed this one particular preacher around until he showed up at our main church for about a month. By then I was using the last brace I needed. Basically my bone is completely healed but I needed to build up strength by using this removable boot and walking around with it on. So I go up there to get my stomach prayed over (something really convienent for the faith healers cause nobody will ask for proof of whether a colon full of stomach ulcers is healed). And this guy noticed my boot. He went through his spiel and then ordered me to take the boot off. In front of thousands of people I wasn't going to refuse and at this time I was fully wrapped into this so I did. Obviously since it's already healed it was fine for me to walk on, I mean I already was. So everyone shouted for joy and freaked out. Then he prayed over my stomach, and gave me $5 to go to mcdonalds to eat food I haven't been allowed to have since I was 9 (which was cool of him I thought. He didn't *have* to do that.). So I walk back on my "miraculously healed" leg and we eventually go to Mcdonalds that night, fully believing I'm healed (Even though I was choosing to ignore the pain and cramping in my stomach and acting like it wasn't happening). Ending up just several hours later after eating I came to terms with the fact that, yeah I'm *not* healed, and spent all the rest of that night and the next day suffering with severe cramping and running back and forth to the bathroom.
From then on I understood that it was BS and it slowly led to me becoming atheist. I was actually on the last stretch before *finally* deciding that yes I really am atheist, and I went to a week long bible camp. Honestly it's a cool camp, given it's a bible camp.. And people all around that wore glasses were having their sight"healed" just through singing the songs at services. One of them being my best friend, who I've been very close with for years before this. I already knew he wore contacts and he would wear them occasionally, but through the rest of the time at the camp I didn't catch him putting them on, given we were in the same room. Well another month goes by and I go over to his house. I've decided I'm atheist for sure now and I come across his glasses and an empty contact container. He confesses to me that even that night his eyes were blurry the whole time, like normal, and he couldn't put his glasses back on because he just said he thought he was healed. The best part is, my youth pastor (a real asshole we figured out after getting older) convinced him to crush his glasses. So now the entire time at camp he had to wake up early and sneak to put on contacts without me seeing or he had to go without for the day. Then when he got home he had to sneak out and buy new glasses since the youth pastor told his parents. So I was the only one that knew about him sneaking around with all this. Which just made me laugh inside because all these other people at the church went on like everyone was healed and all even using my friend as proof. Meanwhile we both know it's all bullshit.

Imagine Christians running a hospital and all they are equipped with is the power of prayers. Consider how is prayer going to work in the following scenarios:
    -Ballistic trauma (gunshot wound)
    -Hyperthermia (heat stroke or sunstroke)
    -Hypothermia (frostbite)
-Severe burn (including scalding and chemical burns)
    -Myocardial Infarction (heart attack)
-Malnutrition and starvation (as in extreme anorexia and bulimia)
    -Cerebrovascular accident (stroke)
    -Attempted suicide (non-fatal)
    -Hypovolemic shock (due to hemorrhage)
No equipments allowed. Just prayers. I will allow them to use the bible, holy water and as many people as they would like to have in their prayers. Imagine that.

That was an impressive reply! You're one of the few readers who noted a difference between faith in things we can physically see and touch in this world, such as doctors and medicine -- and faith in a God who we cannot see in the physical world. Yes, there's a difference.
I'll now go you one further... Unbelievers cannot see or touch God because of their unbelief, but once they do believe, both God and Jesus will make themselves known and thus ALL believers will genuinely experience God.

What if faith helps someone cope with things that are out of their control? Personally, I don't follow or subscribe to organized religion. However, it doesn't mean that every person that has faith in an organized religious orthodoxy is weak or foolish.
I have met very nice and intelligent people who are religious. One person I know, a Christian, has a recorded IQ of about 180. He also scored extremely high on the SAT test. It is unwise, however, to stereotype individuals because of the foolish public actions of select, vociferous individuals or groups.

Faith healing works for those who believe, according to the bible. You also need to believe in the one performing the miracle. What darren is showing here is the work of false prophets. According to Matthew 24:24- " For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." So this blasphemes acts that darren is talking about is the acts of those false prophets, but let it be known the real prophets are out there even among yourselves, but your ignorance causes you not even to realise that they are there.

The Bible says that God causes it to rain on the just and the unjust. So God is willing to care for both the saved and unsaved.

A friend of mine believes in faith healing. He told me that it is my own fault if I stay sick with a serious long-term condition because I am "believing" in doctors instead of praying to God to heal me. He says that until I stop going to doctors and put all my faith in God, I will remain ill and am bringing my illness on myself because sickness is caused only by Satan so only people who are not true believers get sick. I asked him if he washes his dishes himself or prays for God to do it for him. He evaded answering with some mumbo jumbo about all GOOD things coming from God. Not sure how that answer had anything to do with what I asked.

I was a student of history, I studied antiquities for far more than weeks or months. Through my research it became abudently clear how religions came into existance, some flourished, some faded away, but all have similar fables, myths, and fantastic tales. Resurrections were one of the most common, in fact there are multiple examples of resurrections within the Bible, to the point where it almost seems to have been unmiraculous at the time.

I think this guy has nailed it, that faith healers deal with people who can sort of walk, sort of see, sort of hear, and just enough to perform for a very brief stage appearance. When interviewed later, these subjects never report a permanent healing. Nothing has changed for them. Sometimes pain can be temporarily allayed, as in arthritis, but it doesn't last beyond the show.

I'm deaf in my left ear and partly deaf in my right ear. My pastor had me take my hearing aid out to heal my hearing, went as far as to put his finger in my ear and called on the name of jesus to heal me; but so far, my hearing is the same and nothing has changed about it. He said that with faith it will return and to just believe that jesus healed me. I feel that miricale is the hearing aid itself, but ppl at church told me not to rely on manmaid devices and to let go and let god.

YourBrainOnReligion- Its simple really. I was diagnosed with a malignant tumor by MD Anderson Cancer Center. I was scheduled for a surgery that would have removed half of my mouth. I was told that i would have to undergo chemo and learn how to speak again with a prosthetic mouth piece. I put my faith in the Lord and prayed. Prayed without a doubt that I would be healed. A week before the surgery was scheduled to take place the doctors ran more test and saw the cancer was gone. All that remained

As for me being a "faith healer". I've never called nor ever considered myself a "faith healer". To do so would imply that I'm somehow special or have some power of my own. But my job in healing is to build your faith in God and Christ. In other words, the less I get you to see me and the more I get you to see Jesus, the better the job I have done.

I have healing(s) in my ministry all the time. And I'm certainly no fake! And when you have healing(s) in your ministry like I do, you don't need to be a fake to impress anyone. Even so, I can't just walk in and start waving my hands all over and heal everyone in sight. You have to PREACH HEALING FIRST to build people's faith. Then you begin praying for them and then God heals them. First develop their faith, then do the healing(s)...

StanBennet, the reason that people keel over when Benny Hinn makes a gesture is because they are doing what they know is expected of them. If you'll notice, children are rarely brought up onto the stage for 'healing' by any evangelist, because they don't know what to do. When they are, they need to be manually pushed over to be 'slain in the spirit', whereas an adult will perform this by rote.

A couple serving probation for the 2009 death of their toddler after they turned to prayer instead of a doctor could face new charges now that another son has died.
Herbert and Catherine Schaible belong to a fundamentalist Christian church that believes in faith healing. They lost their 8-month-old son, Brandon, last week after he suffered from diarrhea and breathing problems for at least a week, and stopped eating. Four years ago, another son died from bacterial pneumonia.

And to say something about me : When I have a headache or a sore throat I don't take pills ... I only repeatedly tell my head or my throat that I love them and that everything is fine. It is kind of a suggestion but it shows prompt results that seem to be kind of "magic" but the result is what matters to me. And NOT what others say who did not even try that once.

And after a good hard thought i give my opinion for the given topic, and i think that that is far better then to blindly follow something and never question it.
And no, i choose not to believe in any religion because simply i find it highly unlikely that it could even be in the ranks of plausible. Also i don't need a 2000 year old book to tell me not to kill people.

    Those are good questions:
    1. Bring me a man with malaria and I'll pray for him -- and God would be glad to heal him.
    2. And yes, you don't need any preacher to pray for your healing. You can do it every bit using your own faith.
    3. Faith healers do not use their own power to heal, neither do they claim to heal using their own power, but by the power of God.
    4. Of course God will heal sinners. If he didn't, you wouldn't live long enough to come get saved.

There can be placebo effects from faith, just as there are legitimate studies that taking a suger pill and telling the patient it will cure pain will show actual results of curing pain. The body is a wonderful self-healing system, but sometimes it may take the mind being tricked in order to kick start a currently dormant healing process... that is the essence of placebo, and the essence of any tangible results from 'faith healing'

Why do hospitals exist? Because faith works like a trailer towed behind your car -- whichever way you choose to go, the trailer follows you. If you choose hospitals, that's the direction your faith follows. But if you choose to trust God to heal you, then your faith goes in that direction instead. Even so, many people who ask God for healing let 'doubt' get in which overcomes their faith. Doubt is the enemy of your faith. And that's why not all get healed who ask God for healing!

Yes, truths are conditional. Although that does not mean they are weakly held or weakly supported by the evidence available. All it means is that there are not any "absolute Truths". Basing 'truth' on only my own perceptions would be a mistake. Therefore, beliefs(truths) supported by more physical evidence and outside confirmation, should be considered more strongly believed.

I myself am a Christian, Have I ever seen him ? No have I ever seen God personally ? No. It's all faith no proof is available.
Even when Christ raised people from the dead Jesus said people would still not believe no matter how many miracles he did.
It is God's grace alone that faith is given thats why as Christians we should be humble of heart and lowly of spirit not so self righteous against others.

Yes, the human body has an incredible capacity for repair. The one instance where an experiment was done into the effects of prayer on health, tested on a large group with heart-problems, and who were in hospital, found that those who were being prayed for by prayer groups on a weekly basis, were more likely (with a statistically significant difference) to suffer a serious heart attack or have their condition deteriorate, compared to the control group. Now, guess the conclusions of this study?

pitcalco I think it is because younger branches of Christianity need more stunning shows to bring in more followers. Because Catholicism is relatively old, and is in some places very cemented in culture, it expends less effort. Newer groups need grandiose displays to assert their "divine authority", hence the faith healing fiasco.

Okay, the first one wouldn't have worked anyway because he didn't say "In Jesus name." And also, the healer would need to have the Holy Spirit in him and FAITH. oh and btw real faith healers wouldn't take money for the healing, just FYI.
