  • Got a new @sansi_light grow light, let’s set it up and take some measurements.
In this video, I explore the essentials of indoor plant lighting, focusing on Sanzi's new tri-directional light bulb. I'll guide you through key concepts like foot candles and PPFD, shedding light on the actual needs of plants indoors versus perceived sunlight availability. Despite ample natural light, many indoor environments fall short of providing the necessary light intensity for plant health. I've rigorously evaluated the Sanzi bulb's performance in comparison to typical lighting solutions, detailing its effects on plant growth. Through this review, I highlight the bulb's spectrum quality, light intensity, and its practical benefits for various plant types. Concluding with a balanced overview of its advantages and any limitations encountered, this video aims to equip you with the knowledge to enhance your indoor gardening with optimal lighting.

Glad it was helpful! The only thing that kind of sucks is that a good light meter (that measures PAR), runs you about $500. That’s…a lot. But there are cheaper (less precise) options like just getting a light meter for photography. Either way, I’m glad it was helpful 😊

Oh my it's been a while ! Hope you two are doing fantastic !
This year i've deflasked my babies paphiopedilum glaucophyllum x bellatullum and i have a philippinense x godefroyae on the go 🥰 i love my babies.
Can you do a little update on your orchid seedlings and in-vitro project please ?

That would be a great idea! Also, I love that you’ve been deflasking paphs! I’ve actually got a few paphs crosses in flask now too and a BUNCH more Paph seed pods that I’ll need to sow.
Thanks for the kind message btw 😊

I’ve been tending to my plants, dealing with life, work, family-you know, the stuff that happens outside our hobby. I’m not here for followers. This is a hobby, it doesn’t pay my bills, and when I have time and interest I share my experience. Making videos takes a lot of work, even this one that is 3 minutes…4 hours of filming & editing. And honestly, it’s quite stressful to put yourself out there, so I guess…I’ve been finding my stride and balance with this hobby. Making sure it doesn’t cause burnout and stays enjoyable.
How have you been? How are your plants?

@@HerebutNot I'm good and my plants are also doing good.
I understand we all go through a lot outside our UA-cam persona but after COVID-19, silence doesn't look good.
I know for some people UA-cam is not main thing in their life but some update would have been nice. There might be other people who would have liked to know that you are here but not, just like your channel name. 😊
Anyways, good to see you back.

So, if you had the 4 gooseneck how would you focus the lights and how far away would you have them for carnivorous plants, like flytraps, sundews, or pitchers?

@@danielm.1441 - very! But I figured for me giving context around plant care specifics would be helpful. I never realized how much light my windows block. At most I get up to 35% sun at my east windows. Probably not a tool for everyone though. Cost more than most people’s entire collection. Haha

Apogee Instruments, also a good manufacturer of PAR meters, might have some models at lower prices. And i just noticed in Google there are some opportunities to rent them. Until I can afford to buy a meter, I hope it's valid to just consult the PPFD Maps for your particular light to judge how far to place plants from the light.
