  • I’m not embarrassed to admit when I was wrong, as long as I learn from my mistakes. A few weeks ago, I posted this memory wire necklace tutorial, and I said that it didn’t need a clasp.
    I was wrong! :(
After wearing the necklace, I changed my mind. The glass beads that I used for this necklace are quite heavy, and even though the necklace didn’t fall off, I felt a bit insecure about it. It moved forward when I leaned forward, so I decided to change it and add a clasp.

I love the colors of this necklace and it fits you perfectly! I have some necklace size memory wire and will use your technique to finish the closure. Great idea! Thanks!

Your talking about the error helps all of us understand that it is not a crime to make a mistake, that even the more experienced designers make the mistake and that we can learn from it. I really love this video. It helped me to make memory wire necklaces which, believe it or not, are easier to do than crimping. I have neuropathy in my hands, so there are small movements that are difficult, but I'm not giving up. Thank you so much for your inspiration!!

Thank you Trudy. I totally agree that memory wire is easier than crimping.

Hi Sandy, thank you. Yes, we fixed the fence and weather is slowly improving - looking forward to spring. The necklace I'm wearing - I've been thinking about doing a tutorial for that one. I made it years ago and I wear it all the time. The best thing is the length is adjustable so I wear it with many outfits. I'll have a think about that - stay tuned - it might be coming up!

I love how you made this video admiting to your error and showing everyone the fix you did. It shows everyone not to be upset about making a mistake, even those that have been doing this for a long time will make a mistake, we are all human. Thank you for taking the time, back then, to do this. Personally, I think it sits MUCH nicer on your neck and looks definitely better. Very beautiful necklace!!!! Thanks!

Thank you so much, Dianne. I agree that it sits better, and it feels more secure. I also agree that it's important to admit when you are wrong and, especially with something like this, show how to fix it.

I've never used memory wire as a necklace, that is the only way I do my memory wire bracelets though.. I surely don't want to loose them. Thanks for sharing...🌻

Thank you Cathy. I have never put a clasp on a memory wire bracelet as I always do more than one wrap but I can see that if you're only using one loop, you would want to. Thanks for that piece of information.

Thank you! You fixed it really good and fast! You’ve inspired me to make a necklace out of memory wire! I have been making memory wire bracelets and stretch bracelets, but seeing this video makes me feel more confident to try a necklace! It’s also nice to see someone showing how to correct mistakes without taking the whole necklace apart unless you have to! Have a good day! You’re jewelry is beautiful!

Thank you so much Susan. I'm all about doing as little as possible to fix something if I make a mistake. I'm glad I've inspired you to try. Memory wire necklaces are just as easy, if not more so, than bracelets.

Your my favorite on UA-camr, when it comes to jewelry making. I find your videos to be straight forward and peaceful. ❤ Without all the hyper active and rambling about your cousins, sisters, husband's, best friends baby daddy drama... And Yada Yada. About things way off subject like most jewelry youtubers. Lol!!! Thank you being here on UA-cam. ❤❤

good video for correcting a mistake, thank you for sharing. I thought memory wire necklaces would fall off if made with beads that had weight

Yes you did the right thing. Very pretty. I watched the other video too. I would've made shorter as well. I have made chokers out of heavier gauge wire like 14/16 guage. Those are really pretty beads, I love those too. You, and another lady I watched do these memory wire necklaces, (she used acrylic tribal looking beads with turquoise colored magnesite) turned out really pretty, just like yours (who doesn't love dangles) I love the fact yours reminds me of the jewelry worn way way back in the day by royalty.( Or at least that's how it's portrayed on TV?) I saved both of y'all's videos. ❤

Hi, thank you so much for your comment. Yes, I can see the "back in the day" royalty wearing this one too.

When you added the clasp to this lovely necklace, why did you use a jump ring instead of adding the clasp directly to the loop of the wire?

    • @The_Stylish_Maker
      @The_Stylish_Maker  6 місяців тому +1

That's a great question. I would have found it very hard to open the memory wire loop. It was much easier to add a jump ring and add the clasp that way. I hope that makes sense.
