Actually, they used a 12" record from the local library that had rain sounds and mixed the sound in. It was recorded by Bart Thurber at Albert Menduno's parents house. I interviewed Albert about Calm, Mohinder and A-Set! If anyone is interested in reading just message me, I don't know if I can post links in here.
Calm's bandcamp page says this was issued in the summer of ’95. I think the self-titled 7-inch was released in '96. Great record. Thank you for uploading!

comes to show supergroups don’t always work out. even being this early on in emo/indie/post they overused that shit out of that sus2 chord, sounds very dry and uninspired. meh. when u ask your mom for unwound and ur mom says “we have unwound at home”
their use of modal harmony, chord choice and dynamics sound very similar to me. the difference is that they don’t know how to give it urgency so it just sounds like a bunch of random chords thrown in a pile. thumbs down.
@@stressfacture i can definitely see where you're coming from, but i feel like calm usually is darker, and while using similar guitar tones, unwound tends to use higher notes to create a sharper sound, while calm goes for a more moody and lower sound. but i feel like agreeing to disagree might be the way to go this time around
HaHa , as someone that bought these records at the time and saw so many shows of this stuff in basements and bowling alleys. Even those of us that liked this missed Mohinder and thought this was like frat rock Unwound through a Hum filter. Still love this record for all its awkward inspiration and visceral delivery. So weird how the youth love Duster so much. To us they were to Bedhead what Modest Mouse was to Built To Spill. It’s as shocking as thrilling to witness these fan bases grow.
Thanks everyone! That's me on drums! We recorded this in my bedroom at my moms house 🤘🏼
