So amazing the French people just know this in Latin, and sing it without the words or the music, just as they sing the Magnificat, at Notre Dame ... without the music or words in front of them. Such a great blessing, from "the eldest daughter of the Church". Thank you for posting this. Bless every one of you.
I am old now, but ND de Paris is still on my "bucket list." I want to attend Mass there at least once before I die. No explanation as to why I never got there (other than I HATE to fly).
In 2008 I was in Rome attending the International Congress Pilgrimage of Consecrated Virgins. On the eve of the Feast of The Most Holy Trinity held in the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva we sang this hymn by candlelight. It has been my most favourite hymn. Greetings from Dunedin, New Zealand. Carol Taurua OV.
🌞🌞🌞❤💙❤💙💒🕊🌿😘😘👍

Laudate Dominum, laudate Dominum, Omnes gentes, Alléluia !
The choir is actually in the choir section of the cathedral. While there is an altar at the rear of the choir, it is not the main altar of the cathedral. The main altar is in the middle of the transept. In Notre Dame, this main altar is a very modern brass altar with images of the twelve apostles. This main altar is obscured in this video as the Mass celebrants are sitting in front of it.
Laudate Dominum means "louons le Seigneur!" in French, "O praise the Lord" in English and "Alabado sea el Señor" In Spanish. By the way This is the Psalm 117(116).
You made me laugh -- but I completely agree! Who could possibly hate such beautiful music, even if just for the sake of the music even if you disagree with the text?!
The melody is XVIIth century ''Folies d'Espangole'' written by Jean Baptiste Lully, but probably inspired by a much older folk melody. Picked up and adapted by the Taize' community and performed here in the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris for the ordination of a RC priest.
@@waltertaljaard1488The melody 'La Folia' or 'Folias' goes back much farther for sure. Gaspar Sanz has a version for baroque guitar from 17th century but that itself was based on a Portuguese dance melody from even possibly as early as 13th.

What a triumph for the world it would be to see France, Eldest Daughter of the Church, brought back into the Fold.
Magnifico sublime canto grande onore e gloria.

Love this work
Impressive!
jesus j'ai confiance en toi .
With this kind of music, such resonance, and gothic lines,
one can really ascend to the infinity ands stay there fo eternity.

Old Europe that is not coming back...
Louvemos o Senhor.

The one "dislike" must be from a Hell-bound atheist. This music is absolutely gorgeous.
j adore
I don't spak english well, but i try to translate from latin: "Prise Lord, prise Lord, all you people, halleluia."
Deus abençoe a França.

I totally agree!
Wow !!!
Thank you very much, it's very pretty in Latin.
It is an episcopal ordination. The new bishop is being given the Book of the Gospels with the charge of preaching and teaching.
I wondered why red vestments. TY
Never liked the Taize service, but the music is catchy.
Greetings from a Byzantine.
alléluia!
please somebody make a loop of this for 10 minutes
No. This is by Jacques Berthier of the Taize' Community. You can find this sheet music at GIA publications. Recordings, also.
I am Müslim but i like this music
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Could someone please let me know if Mozart composed this also ? It is celestial and devine.
