such a good review! The lines on this rig are perfection...looks like she's a ripper too. The weights of modern enduro bikes tho...scares me a little :(
I pick mine up on Saturday! I'm so stoked!!
A lot of the reviews seem to be somewhat shocked initially at the speed of this bike. Looks like a good racing bike. Excellent production on this video too, and very skillful riding. I subscribed, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for tuning in! It really is unlike any bike I’ve ridden to date. If you get a chance to try one out do it.
@@CapitalMTB Awesome, thanks for the feedback. Yeah would definitely like to try it out one of these days. I also like the way the Transition Spire looks. Do you have any feedback regarding that bike? Which would probably be the more planted straight-line bruiser type?
I’m not sure about the transition, I have yet to ride one. Check out the Pink Bike reviews, they’re pretty in-depth.
@@CapitalMTB Gotcha, thank you! I really enjoy your content btw. I work in digital/online marketing and this is excellent content, keep it up!
Have you ridden the specialized enduro? Seems to be getting all the accolades that the enduro did a year ago. Killer riding!
I'm happy to see the interest in high pivots!
Awesome video! Very well put together and high quality.
Man, it really does seem like every person who rides this bike completely falls in love with it. Really making me reconsider when I'm planning to get a new bike...
Thanks! And yep one might say it has a haunting effect on whoever demos it haha
Awsom riding dude,I think you like the rig 🤘
I sure do!
Great review that thing looks dialled. How was the climbing ?
It’s good, I think I may have forgotten to add in the climbing portion of the review :s. It’s a good climber given the style of bike. It’s super comfy to just sit back and cruise up the climbs. The suspension offers tons of grip too which is nice.
Nice review and riding🔥🔥
Love love love norco range ❤️😍
if anyone watches this and doesn't want this bike, there is something wrong with you. my Knolly fugitive is great but... I don't have 6k to through around lol
Any chance you’ve tried the Forbidden Dreadnought too?
These two are in the short list for next bike.
It’s also on my list to try but sadly I have not yet. I’d be more interested to see how the high pivot translates to a trail bike like the Druid though.
Can you give a comparison to the latest Specialized Enduro or maybe a YT Capra 29?
Sorry, I can’t really speak to the Enduro or the Capra… I have a couple buddies who ride Enduros and judging from what they say it seems like it has a pretty similar ride feel to the Range.
@@CapitalMTB if it has a similar ride feel then what’s the point of carrying all the extra weight??
A question regarding clearance. I love the design concept ....however where I ride there are quite a few logs to get over on the climbs ....with that low pivot...which looks to be a fair way below the bb....is this thing going to be bashing that pivot into every log as I try to crank back up the hill to descend again?
Yeah I was kind of freaked out by that initially but the pivot moves up as the suspension compresses so it get out of the way of most things. I did scrape it a few times but it has a huge skid plate on it so it’s well protected.
What size SLS did you ad? Mine arrives October and was going to whip out the steel one to save some beef. Cheers from NZ....
So I had a 450lb 67mm spring kicking around. The large came stock with a 500lb spring which was way too stiff for me.
@@CapitalMTB cheers bro. 67mm was the info i wanted but now I need to know more, but only what you weigh, don't need to know your chamois colour though 😂.
Lol I weigh 150lbs with gear. If you check out the ride aligned bike setup guide on Norco’s site it gives you all the setup info you need down to spring weight and the number of spacers under your stem.
What’s the chain slap like on these??! Would you say it’s a quiet bike. Sounds a little noisey. Cheers.
So that knocking sound is one of the cables in the down tube. The chain slap is there but it’s not too bothersome. I have another one on demo at the moment and it’s as quiet as my altitude.
The guy in the yt also pretty fast... Does the rear ward travel feel different on jumps? And what about slower NS style right tech?
What’s happening with the pricing of all these new bikes nowadays. It’s crazy isn’t it?
Inflation is a pain, but there’s definitely an increase in quality. I find myself always modifying my bikes and by the time I’m done I’ll have spent more than the higher priced models…. It’s nice to see bikes coming stock with top tier suspension and proper tires.
Sick.
Have you ridden the Rocky Mountain Slayer 29"? And if so; how does it compare?
I have not but I have a few buddies who ride them and they love em.
@@CapitalMTB YES! Totally enjoying and ripping my fully coiled Slayer!; just always curious about a next level...;)
Damn I have a range on order but every video I’ve seen it’s noisy. Is that the internal cabling making noise?
I actually have another one on demo at the moment and it’s much quieter. There’s some chain slap but that’s about it.
@@CapitalMTB that’s good to know. Hopefully there’s a way to keep things composed sound wise!
Which size you were riding and how tall are you?
So I’m 5’8 ish and I tried both the medium and the large. According to Norcos size chart Im right in between a medium and a large. Personally I preferred the medium as it’s already a pretty big bike.
Whats that rattling noise coming from the bike?
I think it’s just a cable knocking around inside the frame. I think it could be quieted down with some foam. I checked out another one of the demo ranges in my area today and it didn’t make that noise.
Gnarly!.
Can you please do the c3 version
I don’t think they’re demoing that one. It seems pretty well spec’d though and should ride pretty similar to the C2.
@@CapitalMTB I don't have the money for the c2 and that's why I'm asking but I'm sure someone will do a review on it
Totally makes sense, what I’m saying is the way the bike rides will be very similar to the C2. The only difference is the fork up front and a different drive terrain. It will be heavier than the C2 and the brakes won’t be as good (tbh the brakes on the C2 were hot garbage though). All in all it’ll be a great bike and you could always upgrade some of the components down the road if they’re not working out for you.
@@CapitalMTB yeah for sure thanks for the Reply and the info man great to see
what bike does the Range feel most similar to?
Nothing I’ve tried so far haha. It makes my 2021 altitude feel like a downcountry bike…
@@CapitalMTB wow!
Yep, I’d love to try some more high pivots for reference purposes haha
How is the climbling?
Surprisingly good! Very comfy. Not fast but not overwhelming. I’m going to have another week on the bike in the near future so I’ll post a video with some more in depth opinions
@@CapitalMTB thanks, comparative?
Maybe a Pivot firebird29?
Haven’t tried a firebird but the DW link suspension they use on Pivots is really efficient but can be a bit harsh. The high pivot is super supple off the top and very forgiving. So if I had to guess I’d say it’s not a good comparison. Honestly I’m having a hard time finding something compare the Range to.
Could you get the C3 with brown frame?
To my knowledge no. I think frame only come in a sparkly black
May i know the price u list is it in usd dollars?
Those are the prices in CAD
@@CapitalMTB ah thanks canadian dollars
Whats the point of even making the shore......
37 lbs! How can he possibly say it feels light.
Maybe light isn’t the right word but the bike feels balanced and once you set the suspension up properly it feels super nimble and fun. I too was pleasantly surprised.
@@CapitalMTB I feel the same way about my 33lb Guerrilla Gravity Smash. But I am looking to go in a lighter direction in the near future and turn the Smash into a Gnarvana.
How tall are you mate?
I’m 5’8-5’9 give or take ;)
@@CapitalMTB I'm about the same height (174cm/5'8.5") with a +4 inch ape index. The Norco rep says I should size up and would feel cramped on a Medium, but the long reach and wheelbase give me some pause. How did the Large fit you? Did you also get to swing a leg over a Medium at some point?
Hey Neil, I’m actually trying out a medium at the moment. The large was quicker in a straight line and felt a bit more composed in the rough but it’s not as nimble as the medium. with bikes getting longer I prefer to size on the smaller side. Also a lot of the trails near me are tight and janky so it helps to have a more nimble bike. If you’re riding a lot of wide open flowy DH stuff I could see the large being perfect.
@@CapitalMTB Thanks! You don’t feel scrunched up with the medium cockpit while climbing?
I have long legs and a short torso so not really no. But I prefer being a bit scrunched. If I’m leaned too far forward I get back pain.
Dear 130mm bike owners. SorrynotSorry.
130mm is best all round travel🙂
Clean up your cockpit pal! Looks like seaweed.
Not much I can do there, it’s a demo…
