Honestly love how frosts knowledge of the game feels like bro science. I’m not discounting his skill, but it just kind of works. And the way he describes things is just very vibe oriented
I honestly don't think his knowledge of the game is any more bro science than like Jorbs for instance, I think if he HAD to explain his thought process to a new player with a justifiable reason other than just "it just feels right" he could, he's just been playing for so long that he doesn't necessarily *need* to think about the reasons to have the right intuition. Him playing with Otz, Rarran, and Malf (Haven't watched Squidinkadink's videos yet) has really kinda instilled this belief in me because every time he just randomly throws in some fucking like *deep* reasoning to a decision that you wouldn't expect from how he plays on vibes: Like the dead adventurer portion.
Watching frost stimming to avoid speaking out and giving the game away to otz is so funny to me, id be in the same situation trying my hardest not to say a word.
This is the duo commentary analysis that I never knew I needed until I got it. Love both of these guys already. Also love their contrasting analysis styles and manner of articulation for the game. It's perfect for me. presuming I got the time to watch.
Having this sort of run is so nice, splitting the collab in one person picking for you with you then playing it out. It's a different dynamic and maybe like, a pre-step for learning when compared to you fully teaching? It's learning how to play more optimally with common cards that others might be picking with a different thought process, pretty cool
this is a great idea for content honestly, reverse coaching... now you gotta do it with a brand new player & get those perfected strikes/bludgeons going
Tbh, some decisions that Otz wanted to make like resting before the elite enemy on Defect and drinking potions during Hexaghost fight on Ironclad clould have saved those runs... Just saying that he was onto something ;D
1:17:10 This is where the run died for me,the spot weakness would’ve been amazing since we already went down the heavy blade route and on top of that we could’ve picked a boomerang later in the run (1:23:16). If we had paper phrog the shock wave would’ve been more interesting as a choice, but I don’t think Vajra is enough to justify passing on spot weakness. I would’ve maybe considered passing it if we had a red skull. At that point looking at the deck, We had zero win conditions and a bunch of strikes, spot weakness would’ve been the win condition with heavy blade. That additional information is the power of hindsight, my monkey brain would’ve seen spot weakness and I would’ve taken it for heavy blade. Boss and relics be damned.
Awesome video! Reminds me of hand and brain chess. Would be interested to see you do this with newer streamers with you as the brain. Maybe you're allowed to say the first card you'd play each turn as well
Do I overvalue Slavers Collar? I really like it as an energy relic without a "drawback" per se. Its obviously not as good given how many more hallway fights you face vs elites, but I like the more reliability in the goalpost fights of the bosses
Slavers Collar is better at low ascensions. The higher you get, the more likely you are to get chip damage in hallway fights. It doesn't matter if you steamroll the boss if you are on one hp when you get to it.
Weirdly enough, I think the boss fights are the easiest part of the game, especially since its a known quantity from the beginning. Its the decisions and the random fights/events across the act that will kill you. The extra energy is nice for the boss, but something else that helps across the entirety of your run is much better.
Slaver's Collar, IMO, is very hit or miss and heavily depends on your deck. If you have a deck going into the next act that you know can deal with hallway fights relatively easily but struggles with longer fights like bosses or elites, Slaver's Collar isn't a bad choice. But if your deck is gonna struggle with the hallway fights in the next act, Slaver's Collar is a huge miss. I feel like it has potential but if your deck isn't up to par with the act, its just a bad choice over taking something that will immediately make your deck better.
I'll definitely take Slaver's if the other relics' downsides are too much. (Fusion Hammer when there's a card that needs an upgrade, Coffee dripper with poor block, Velvet Choker as any character that isn't the Ironclad) I'll also take it over Astrolabe if I already got rid of a decent number of my strikes/defends. Same with Bird Cage.
Slaver's Collar's drawback is not helping you in most of your fights. You could also think of it as the extra damage you take in regular fights that could've been avoided with more energy (or a strong boss relic that does something else). Several of the other energy relics (namely Fusion Hammer and especially Coffee Dripper, before even talking about class-specific ones) have much more reliable effects in exchange for downsides that are comparatively more mitigatable in higher ascensions.
when you do this Frost should give his opinion right after Otz makes a decision, not saying let frost override, but please give your contrasting opinion, otherwise what is the point of this video?
47:17 Retroactive backseating time, you had exact lethal with 2 strikes and lightning orb smh why didn't Coach Otz catch that I thought he was the GOAT
Unfortunately this was not the only moment. Somehow the varja was forgotten that it gives extra damage to those strikes on other occasions as well. I counted a decent amount of moments on the defect run where a huge amount of HP overall would be saved with missing lethal or varja bonus. Still, great content overall.
I think this was a very good video in terms of dynamics between two very smart guys, but oz was perhaps even too considerate and apologetic while Frost didn't lever his knowledge effectively which could be achieved even with some subtlety on pick screens. I think, in line with the opening idea, a wild, out of the box deck should and some back and forth banter could make this duo even more powerful but i understand also the pressure to perform and ultimately win on top of which it must be said that im relatively new to the game. Either way, good shit Cant believe he took clash. Gl w the challenge but i doubt ill be watching that
Creative AI *adds* powers to your hand, it doesn't count as *drawing* them (at least, I'm pretty sure), so Snecko would not affect the powers it generates unless you discard & then redraw them. I'm curious as to why you think Snecko with Creative AI would win, is it just the fact that Snecko can't make Creative AI cost _more_ than it normally does? In my opinion, Snecko was a risky pick because he had a lot of 1-cost cards that would have about a 50% chance of being more expensive, which in my head doesn't seem very good, but I've never been above around Ascension 5 or so, so...
@@KamitsukiLuciela Snecko is statistically the strongest relic in the game. Pair that with a card that is a win condition on its own, and you draw faster to find it, and it costs less most of the time. Sure you might have bad turns but there are ways to medigate that. His deck was relatively thin, he would have drawn into creative AI early into most fights and been fine. He went the safer route which caused him to be lacking the damage to beat some of the elites.
ok, I have an odd question, and I am not trying to start anything, or drag anyone or badmouth anyone. But back in the day during DBDs big rise, when Monto, No0b3, Otz, H20Delerious and them were all posting DBD 3 times a week, did something happen where Otzdarva had some kinda scandal with cheating, or something along those lines? I know Frost is pretty good about not dealing with scum, I know I stopped following Otzdarva, but I cant remember if it was because of something shady, or just burnout from DBD content.
