Shelby, my situation is probably common with a lot of others. I was out of work and found out while I was on unemployment the state would pay for my truck driving school. That was a no-brainer for me. It was very very difficult in the beginning. I only lasted two and a half months over the road. I was very fortunate a local trucking company took me in with what little experience I had. it was honestly because they overlooked it on my application. I kept my mouth shut for the first year. After that I told my boss I was surprised you took me in with what little experience I had. He got mad and said did you lie to me. I said no good look at the application. Then he smiled and said you've been here a year accident-free you're in now. I'm a born again Christian and gave God all the thanks for getting me a local job so early in my career. Believe me it wasn't easy whatsoever I had a lot of adjusting and growing up to do. But the job serve this purpose putting money in my bank and helping me to mature as a person. God bless you Shelby. 🙏
Watching you being happy with your life and seemingly enjoying it, makes me happy as well. It's such a joy to watch people enjoying life as it's meant to be.
Good luck on the new job, shelby, but be careful in Portland. There is unrest over there. It's almost as bad as LA. Been driving for 19 years and ready to go from my current job. Tired of it and ready to move on.
Thank you for all the content in this video ❤ I'm getting into trucking because im a single mom trying to find stability in my life and provide for my girls. The one thing that makes me cry is how much I'll miss them while I'm away, and the guilt of not being there for them everyday.
Shelby your driving, backing, bumping dock skills are showing the industry vital techniques very few find out for years. Trucking has been the most fantastic job I've had for 38 years no matter what happens everyday it's the greatest adventure. But it's not easy to keep handling dangerous conditions that can happen in a split second 10x's a day. Convincing myself is getting harder and harder because my dashcam real time video shock the heck out of me watching the daily near miss death wrecks. I'm glad you're capable of sharing and teaching many things running OTR. So many topics need to be immediately learned. I've watched 1000's of great drivers give up after just 8 years. The impact talent implementing safety to those in the dark have helped save lives. Why you are leaving is sad but obviously what you want. We all wish you success knowledge is Gold. Please remember all the drivers you've left behind. We have and will continue to miss you.
Welcome to Portland. Ignore haters, I moved here a year and a half and it is one the most beautiful places. Hey, if all the hate keeps people away and traffic on the trails down, so be it. Anyway, welcome fellow Portlander.
Agreed. I've lived in city limits for over a decade, and the only issues I've had are with high cost of living, which happens in every city. Almost no one comes across a protest unless actively seeking them out.
Just wanna say, your videos are amazing. You always look at the brighter side of things no matter how gloomy the day is. Im hoping that you are here to stay as the adventure you have taken us all on so far has been fun. Hope to see more. Oh an my dog likes to watch Dakota too. Lol
A truck driver, UA-cam celebrity, motivational speaker, and very driven woman. I think I could see you running your own business one day. I can honestly say, this is my favorite of all your videos
This month is my 1 year anniversary of truck driving and i celebrated by seeing family ive been away from for too long. They are the purpose i started in this industry and this video reaffirmed my recent realization that I need to step back, see the big picture, and remind myself of the end goal!
Thank you for this video. I came across you today and started watching a few vid and they definitely re-grounded me. Last two years of my life have had some real bad set backs. It's been hard not wanting to just give up. But I know it's through pain that we grow. Trucking has definitely been the one constant thing in my life and over all is what makes me happy. Good luck with your new journey and god bless!
Once again you amaze me. Your words and enthusiasm for new drivers or like me seasoned drivers is out of the park. Finding your passion takes time. It takes patience and persistence. I’ve spent more than 1/2 of my career life chasing something that paid the bills. I went to school and it was intriguing, but always felt a longing for more. For 18 years I conquered many challenges, but still felt empty. Then one day I sat back and reviewed all the jobs that I’ve had and one common factor was driving. I had to drive to most of my jobs and I always looked forward to the drive to work or the drive home afterword. This lead me to a driving career. I’ve now logged more than 1.2 million miles and yes there are challenges, days where you just want to be done. However this country has so much beauty, so many beautiful people and places to see. Being away from family is one of the largest challenges. But knowing that I’m backed by my wife and kids for all the time away is all for the greater good. My time at home I cherish and I work for a Company that focuses on family. The company has adopted not only me but my entire family. Companies like this are very rare and very hard to find. I’m very blessed to have this fit and to be part of a great family. Finding Your Passion is hard work but let me say when you find it. You just know ❤️
Really beautiful and cool scenery of Mother nature. Congratulations for new opportunity. Portland is a nice and beautiful city. Best of luck and best wishes from my heart and soul.
Congratulations on your promotion!!! I just recently started watching your videos and I love how you share your experience as a truck driver. I thought about becoming a truck driver myself but it’s just a thought at the moment. I think it’s awesome that you get to see different parts of the country as you’re working. Keep doing what you’re doing and can’t wait to see more of your videos!!!
I got into trucking a couple weeks after my 21st birthday. Been doing it for 7 months and one of the first things I’ve realized is that I’ve seen more in that period of time than I have in my entire life. It’s changed my perspective on a lot of things and shown me the value of being to yourself and being able to think freely, and even think out loud where nobody is there to judge you 🤔 it’s been a great decision
Glad to see you back, and happy for your advancement! YOU will be the reason many drivers stick it out. My passion has always been teaching, and along the way in life i have learned many things, and continue to look for new things to learn. Hopefully Ill be able to pass on what ive learned some day.
Congradulations on your promotion Shelby! It couldn't have happened to a better person. I appreciate all of your insight into the trucking business and the drive it takes to make this passion a succesful career, as well as the motivations why different people drive. Be blessed
It was Fabulous seeing you. I missed your vlogs a lot. Best of luck in your new adventure as OM Stay safe in Portland. Keep the vlogs coming and I can’t wait to see your new adventures soon Be Safe 💕
Congrats on your new job and move Shelby,I wish you the best! After watching your videos,I have decided to get my class A again and drive. Thank you for your videos and giving me the push to drive again.
Congratulations on your new job. You right we need to find our dreams. For me trucking is a step. "Don't forget your purpose! Is a daily reminder. I hear a lot of audiobooks of finances and business while driving too. God Bless you.
Glad to see your back and doing well! I have a full time job operating heavy equipment and I don’t consider that trucking. I do drive for a ground contractor pt and I love doing it and it’s almost like getting paid for a hobby! Stays safe.
That's such wonderful news! They definitely selected the right person to fulfill this position. Best of luck in your new and exciting journey moving forward. Dakota's going to have so much fun chasing bears there.
Welcome back, Shelby. I enjoy your vibrant personality and willingness to give advice for those who are unsure on what they want out of life. It's hard and I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life.
When you said you have a new opportunity I was excited for you. When you mentioned it was in Portland, my face turned into an immediate frown. I will leave it at that. But from a business standpoint, go girl! I'm happy for you. Too bad you couldn't do it in Utah or Florida.
Hi Shelby, I started a bit earlier than Albert (Below) 1963! While growing up, kids in the neighborhood rode two wheeled horses. My bike was a semi, like dad and Granddad drove. When I look back I can proudly say I was a professional truck driver. Thanks to my father's instruction, my career was accident free. Yes, trucking was my passion. Good luck with your new endeavor. - Scorpio
Trucking is really a rabbit hole! You learn sooooo much! I feel you on the audiobooks and podcasts. I've learned more trucking just sailing down the highway than I ever did before I started driving. 😁
You are incredibly passionate and your love for trucking is very genuine. Watching/listening tonthis as I'm driving in canada. Great content since day 1.
Good to see that you're alright:) Congrats on the new position! Trucking for me was job security & not being stuck inside of a building or an office all day every day. I liked being able to ride around without paying for it & still collecting a check. Glad I'm retired now though...it just keeps getting crazier out there on the road!
Shelby you be safe out there miss your videos I've been a truck driver for 26 years hooe Dakota is good proud of you young lady keep between the ditches.
I have had family in trucking male and female. All have left because well we only have one life and sometimes change is good. Brings in a new perspective and things to learn. They also left the trucking industry doing it for years because it can be dangerous and demanding. They all miss traveling but do not miss the hours and endless dangerous roads. I am in Washington and family in Oregon. I am actually glad you will not be driving as much. My favorite song I have been practicing is Crazy for you. First heard it on this channel. Congrats on your new adventure.
In the last 4 months. Have you driven to Portland Oregon? I do not recommend moving there. It is not safe for truck drivers! Especially pretty women. but if you choose to go there I wish you nothing but the best. and I'll see you on the road, sister.
I agree. For most people, their job is all they have, but what they really need is a reason for going to work. Work to have the free time to enjoy life and find an excuse to live an interesting and exciting life. Find a passion, whether it's hiking, painting, playing music, traveling, or something else that gets you motivated each day. I like to travel and be outside, so I got interested in native American history. Just my own thing.
Shelby returns!!! 🙌🙌 So happy to see your videos again! I just started a new trucking job this Monday after graduating from CDL school on July 21st and you've given me so much motivation and smiles!
Glad to see you back, missed you. Congrats on the move and new job. Florida looks great I stayed on Sanibel Island years ago, pretty place. And where you are now is beautiful, love the view and water. If your passion is your work then that is cool. We all need to find our passion to enjoy what we do, not just make money doing a job we hate. Thank you, Shelby for your advice
Glad to see you Shelby and Dakota back on UA-cam and I wish you the best on your new trucking and also a new state I look forward to your next UA-cam video whenever that may come out! Is bkm still driving with you and Dakota?
Hi, I just came across your channel and I think we would all appreciate a video of what it’s like being a female truck driver. I think it would be great to get some insight considering there isn’t a lot of female truck drivers.
The Sanibel lighthouse is very cool and has a great fishing pier. I have caught many fish there, and a hammerhead shark. Good luck in Portland, Oregon.
Hi, Mom holding the camera! Shelby, you sure pic some really cool places to take Dakota out for a walk. The sites are amazing, especially the ones with you in them. I hope your new position makes you happy!
Welcome back Shelby, good to see you as always, nice to see you looking your usual happy self too. Scenery in the video is superb, you sure you dont want to be a travel vlogger, travelling the world with BKM documenting it for you :). Congrats on the new job sounds really cool, I'm delighted for you, good things happen to good people! Best wishes to you, until the next time have a great one
Going to miss you and your light hearted fun and all the great scenery passing by. I'm a non-essential Engineer building large scale Lithium battery systems and stuck at home wishing I could have some fun and travel a little bit. Your video's were fun and a great change from working at home all day. Hope the desk job doesn't wear on you and you still get to travel some. Thank You!
Congratulations on the new job, promotion, and the move. Always enjoyed going out west to Northern Cali, Oregon, and Washington state because of the scenery especially along the Columbia River but haven't been out that way in a long while. Interesting that you post this video and ask that. It is a really good question to think about. I never really stopped and think asking myself exactly why I wanted to get into trucking other than because it was something that I wanted to do as a kid but there is probably more reasons. This pandemic has also made me think how important we are as truck drivers and also how powerful we truly are giving the fact that this country is basically at our mercy. I plan on going locally get a little bit more of a life
Glad to see you back and happy has ever!! Also glad you got to spend some time with your family. Good luck on your new journey stay safe looking forward to the next vid
It was entertaining to watch you try to be a truck driver. You even showed progress at being able to make and brake the trailers. Your almost complete misunderstanding of gauges and twitches was charmingly amusing. It was inevitable that lack of need and lack of true commitment would lead you to a more conventional trucking job.
I wish you well on new job just be careful with the riots up there east of Portland just before you get there if you watch the mountains you can see the bighorn sheep on the side of the mountain good luck
I have always wanted to become a truck driver I've been one for 24 years next month my wife and I have a music Ministry so driving a truck allows us to travel around and sing southern gospel music so I have the best of both worlds keep up the great work Shelby
Welcome to Oregon. Having lived in both Oregon and Utah, both are great places although if you stand still too long in the Willamette Valley you mold and soon be covered by moss. Good luck with the new job.
Funny how time works...I moved to Portland Oregon when I was 26 to start my career and I’ve been living my dreams in Oregon...now I’m 60 and a working retiree! I still wonder how that happened! Best to you Shelby and Dakota! Live your passion.
I’ve missed your vlogs a lot and I liked your trucking videos. Hope to see more of them. But good luck in your new job. Greetings from Nürnberg/Germany 😊
Thank you so much for making these videos it’s really helped me from being reminded to be organized, teaching me a bit about moss (your favorite plant) or maybe even just to have a laugh sometimes, especially FINDING MY PURPOSE. Long and short of what I want to say is, you are a amazing person, and even that you have a job that a lot of people complain about, you make it fun, happy and exciting! Keep up the GREAT work. ❤️ From Virginia!!! Congrats!🎉👍
I'm a long time old school truck driver I started in the eighties I've lived in a town close to Portland for a while and the city is not the city used to be but I do hope you find happiness there you seem to be a really good decent person and that's a hard quality to find in this day and age. Much luck in your new chapter of of life.
You are magical. You keep the spark alive in so many drivers who want to throw in the towel. I'm so glad I found your channel. I had a terrible day today and this video helped tremendously. Thank you and keep doing what you do ❤ Also, can you do a video on how you handle accidents or link one if you've made one in the past? Shaking the anxiety associated with past accidents I think is what causes a lot of my negativity personally. Best wishes on the new career! I really hope I get to meet you out here one day!
To be honest, why i started driving was because it was quick training and I knew how to drive a truck and needed a better paying job. I knew before I started this was going to be temporary living for me being single with no kids it was the best opportunity at the time. So with 6 years experience driving you think a lot while your driving. I am happy that I just went with it and did it. Because the huge amounts of knowledge I have gained from just listening to podcasts and books. I have learned how to save and manage money and make plans for my future.

A year and half for me as well. I love it! Having lived in DC for twelve years prior to Portland, it has been a boon to my physical and mental health.
what about antifa and democrats ruining the city? not a good time to move to that ultralibt place

I plan on going locally get a little bit more of a life
so happy to see that you are back! such great news about the new position, can't wait to see more! keep the great content coming!
Glad to see you back and to know you’re alright. All the best in the new location/position, Shelby.
Thank you dia for keep us updated, stay safe and God bless you and your mom all the from Namibia 🇳🇦.
Welcome back 😊, congratulations and good luck with your new job & position
Another Excellent Video... Thank You for sharing.
Congratulations on your new position! You’re moving up the ladder and there is likely nothing that’s going to stop you! Enjoy the ride! 🌹
Good to see a video Shelby. Hope you're staying safe.
You are a source of energy. Greeting from a Belgian army trucker
I’ve missed your vlogs a lot and I liked your trucking videos. Hope to see more of them. But good luck in your new job. Greetings from Nürnberg/Germany 😊
Glad to see another video from you!
Congrats!🎉👍
Thank you so much ☺️ it helps to know I am helping even just a little bit
You replied!!
☺️😃
I'm a long time old school truck driver I started in the eighties I've lived in a town close to Portland for a while and the city is not the city used to be but I do hope you find happiness there you seem to be a really good decent person and that's a hard quality to find in this day and age. Much luck in your new chapter of of life.
You are magical. You keep the spark alive in so many drivers who want to throw in the towel. I'm so glad I found your channel. I had a terrible day today and this video helped tremendously. Thank you and keep doing what you do ❤
Also, can you do a video on how you handle accidents or link one if you've made one in the past? Shaking the anxiety associated with past accidents I think is what causes a lot of my negativity personally.
Best wishes on the new career! I really hope I get to meet you out here one day!
Happy to see that you are doing great. Congrats on the new job.
OMG so happy for you in your new path in life you
Great video Shelby, Congrats on your big moves!!!!
Great to have you back, great video and an awesome positive view of life! Good luck in your new ventures..👍
I live in Portland and I am so excited that you get the chance to experience this wonderful place. I love your videos, keep them up! 💚
Hi Shelby, keep up the good work loved your video and walk of the area ! Gary from Australia

Hi Shelby. I myself am thinking of becoming a truck driver. I'll maybe see you on the road some day. All the best.
No you won’t sorry to break it for you
@@KulinBan777 why not?
@Mark because of the lure of open roads and my love for driving. Also I love to spend time with myself.
@Mark maybe I'll see her by chance in a truck stop somewhere is what I meant.
@Mark yeah probably. It's not something I'm stressing about.
You are so incredibly inspiring!!! Thank you.
