- It's been 3 weeks since the last update and a lot's happening! My parents are here to help so I'm getting quite a lot done. Customers are keeping the cafe and teahouse busy too.

About Ryunohara: Ryunohara is a kominka cafe nestled deep in the mountains of Ryujinmura, Wakayama Prefecture. We make our own tea from wild tea plants, and serve it at Ryunohara Kissa, where you'll also find a small library of books about Japanese culture. We also serve Singaporean Hainanese satay skewers alongside stewed meats, fried rice, and other dishes that showcase ingredients from across the Kishu region. The two buildings on the property are traditionally-built 60 and 120 year-old farmhouses, .
Sometimes it takes someone from outside to fully appreciate the things that make an old Japanese folk house special, and preserve those special bits whilst renovating, and to take ones time and not go in like a bull at a gate and destroy what is special. You've done all this and should be congratulated for your work.
Thanks Greggy Weggy! The house was good as is so the main thing I had to do was rip out all the new additions and return it to its original design.
This video was a varm hug of the heart. The beauty in everyday life and the seasonal tasks.
Thanks for watching!
I like your videos. Looks like a wonderful place. My aunt was stationed in Japan for years in the 1960s and really loved it. At 4:29 the dog on the right has an odd leash I've never seen before. Is it supposed to keep the dog from running by dragging under its feet?
Hello! Ume had a long leash clipped onto his usual collar so his usual leash (the thick red one) was dangling. He was waiting for his turn to be groomed so we just left the usual leash dangling. It’s normally not left like that.
@@Ryunohara I see. Thanks.
How nice if can be volunteer at your cafe and farm.
You can! We will have a house for volunteers from next summer (I’ll announce details here on UA-cam soon)
Wow ! Your dedication & hard work finally turn into fruity “ I’m so impress ! Wish u live longevity & good blessings for your futures “🙏🌸🇸🇬
Thanks for the kind words and well wishes!
Very inspirational video work, food and tea all the beautiful pieces that make ryunhara exciting!!!
Thanks Rajesh!
🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🥰 💪🏻💯
You are still here. That is good.
Are you skiing, or in the city?
Working on the guesthouse!
Wow your dad and mummy looked great! Your daddy, especially, he looked fit, slim, and very strong! He looked like he enjoyed what he had done then working on the latest communication technology. Amazing video 😊👍🏻.
I was waiting for the new one and I am glad see you 😍
Thank you for following the channel!
what you cant do in Singapore for Japan you have done so in Japan in your own unique way. Stay Skewers what a treat but dont forget proper Ice Katchan the way Japanese have never had it.
I am so very impressed with all the hard work you have put into not only the beautiful restoration (and by the way each room and dining area look just amazing), but also into the planting, harvesting and preparations of the foods, tea, and coffee. The time and effort looks endless, you must sleep well after so much work.
It is a lot of never-ending work! 🫣
Wow. What a fantastic lifestyle you have. Hard work with great rewards. Everything is looking wonderful. Remarkable achievement.
Thank you Jenny!
How is the cafe coming along? Sorry I couldn’t get time to come down. Are you opening all throughout winter?
The cafe’s doing good! We will close from Boxing Day till end March, and reopen on 1 April.
Nice to hear it’s going well. Get your surrounds mowed and then you can take a much needed break.
Well done, I'll watch your videos, I want to return to Japan again
Come back soon!
You are so amazing and inspirational. I hope to visit you one day. Love from Singapore.
Thanks Vincent, come visit sometime.
Given how much work you've put in and all the very positive messages your videos offer (not to mention the quality of your videography!), I'm kind of disappointed that more people haven't discovered and subscribed to your channel. I know you're not doing this for the "likes" and "follows", necessarily, but in a world where a guy with a cat can have millions of people following him on UA-cam, I think you deserve a much bigger audience!! You're doing amazing things--keep up the good work! 😃💜👋
Thanks for the kind words Stephen. This channel was meant as an update for friends and family so it’s alright that there aren’t too many followers at the moment. Everyone who is watching is really active in the comments though - thanks for that!
Heyyyy man good to see ur doing well I was waiting and hoping everything was all good since it’d been awhile good stuff love the views man
Sorry to keep everyone waiting! Everything takes x3 as long when I have to film it so I couldn’t update on a weekly basis with everything happening all at once.
@@Ryunohara nah totally all good glad to see you still uploading tho man love it good job on everything
I love autumn and prefab bathrooms! And shu-sensei looks so happy in element.
How many cans of gas does it take per stool? And how thorough must the washing be to prevent staining?
One can of gas can probably do 6-7 stools. The stool has to be scrubbed and washed twice to prevent staining.
Yo bro, can I have this place? its look so nice man in japan from way from city
I’m already living here haha
Heyyy Hello 👋
Hi!
oooooh what's the fruits that you were hanging? and hello uncle and aunty lee!
Those are persimmons. 😄
That’s right! Astringent persimmons. They are inedible right off the tree but become delicious after being hung out in the cold weather for a month or so.
why you play, sad, pointless music.
You’ll like the latest video; no music 😬
@@Ryunohara Modern music is very sad, discouraging, questioning owns life, I don't recommend it, because it changes brains functions to simply want to give up with life, it does not influence positively and life is a growth. Current popular music in America is sad and lifeless. Just like the second song you have here, avoid music like that, because wrong music can even make someone feel misrule. She sings like she wants to pass away no matter the lyrics. Do you remember song by John Bon Jovi, It's my life. It is energy, and influences your brain positively and changes waves in brain to positive and creates positive and creative energy, it makes big problems very small. Many people on this planet will suffer from indecision because of music like that and hopefully won't change their brains to no meaning for life. Restoring a house is a noble thing, it is giving a life once again. I would rather listen to Japanese music by street musicians of Japan. Good luck and Hello from Poland.
@@janosik150 Hi there, I choose my music very carefully from a music library. I chose this piece because it reminds us "there's only so many years". I don't think all music needs to be happy, but this piece sounds uplifting to me. Perhaps you might have different tastes in music but this was far from discouraging or "giving up" music to me. Thanks for your opinion, but I will be choosing music that I like for these videos.
