3:26 runtime - I'll watch it at home on our projector. Looking forward to seeing Lily's performance and seeing how they care for the story. It's been said for years that media needs different voices and stories need to be owned by those that experienced it, but this is one move in the right direction.

Yesterday I watched the movie in theaters with my wife. I was really afraid that it was going to be a bloody action movie with much violence and that my wife was going to leave the theatres... Instead we were both immersed in the story. It was a realistic and disilliusoning portrait of the human nature. A story of greediness, manipulation and cowardice. A story of people without a set of value. People who have lost (or never had) a heart. It is realistic without any romantic happy end. It is shocking. From the cinematography aspect it is beautiful as a painting. The storytelling is slow paced - which also adds to its value. Thank you @markbone for recommending it.

How “Bury my heart at wounded knee” isn’t mandatory reading in American classes is beyond me. It’s not meant to evoke guilt, sympathy or hatred. I read it and overwhelmingly felt the need to have empathy in things I do not understand so that I’m not doomed to repeat an endless cycle of hate. Maybe this film will have that same emotion for some.

@@mysteriousoklahoma777 Unfortunately a movie or show will not do it justice. I can only remember parts of my favorite shows, but books evoke something so vivid it's very hard to forget.

@@SteveAmor …Killers of the Flower Moon was initially slated to be a movie about the agents and the formation of the early FBI…but DiCaprio convinced Scorsese there was a deeper story here…one of treachery, murder and inhumanity. So the story was rewritten and told from the Native American perspective. Their cultural and traditional trauma was only magnified by the malfeasance of those who chose to exploit them for love and money.

Muhahah I thought the exact same thing about the water. Can't drink anything an hour before I go in. Scorsese is a master director. I'm so glad we are able to watch films he creates. He is my favorite director without question and I'm beyond excited to see this film. Finally, art in the theaters not soley focused on making money. Art can still be created in Hollywood. I lost hope for a bit after Fast and Furious X came out.

Agree with pretty much everything. Beautiful craftsmanship and hard-hitting true events can’t overcome a problematic script. And the movie has no business being 3.5 hours long. I give it a B-.

(Gets to 2:54) Oh Marrrrk...and I was gonna join AOD.
    (JK) XD
In all seriousness though, I always get excited over watching a new Scorsese film because he always loves to try something new in each of his films, and/or explore a different areas to the theme's he is interested in. He definitely belongs in that elite category of filmmakers...don't forget Kurosawa!
Have you seen Italian American? Fantastic documentary about his parents talking about their upbringing. So good, and please tell Mike to watch it. :D
I've seen the film and I liked it. How much I liked it, I'm still marinating on it, I've heard alot of polarizing remarks from my Indigenous friends and people of color who saw the flick, they respected that Scorsese didn't whitewash the film but they also think they could've shown more of the Osage perspective. These day it's a real balancing act of who should be telling the story, is it too much of a sob story, are they treating the character's respectfully, is the violence on the indigenous people appropriate or to intense to the point where it's distasteful and triggering. Why not make Indigenous people Jedi and put them in more fun films. Alot of questions I thought about while watching this.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

I think this is one of the view movies that doesn't even need any review videos. It's really a good movie and people are naturally gravitating toward it. One of its beauties is that it is indeed historical, and it is indeed kind of political. But in which way political? It shows us the wrongdoing of people, and it shows us a strong female character. Modern topics, but it does it in a very natural and human way and not in a woke liberal way that tries to preach. No. It tries to show, and it does it very well, so you can decide for yourself and try to understand the tragedy, the people, the culture, and the love that people are having for each other. But enough from the political side, because the main theme of the story is not political. It's about history; it's about tragedy, betrayal, love, money and greed.
And I think I have to correct you. The reason for the rewriting was not that he thought it was too "white male-dominated". It was because he didn't want to have a white savior story, and he felt this tragedy had to be told from an inside view (the osage) and not from the outside world. And he didn't decide it just on his own. It was more of a discussion with several people. For example, Leonardo DiCaprio.
But I think we definitly will agree on the most important thing: It is a truly great movie! :)
